  • TOO SMALL TO BE HE-MAN

  • Everyone I ever talk to about this show always say the same thing. That's it's a poor cartoon conmpared to the original. That it took what made the original good and twisted it into and inferior version.

The problem with that criticism, at least for me, is that I was introduced to He-Man through this series.

I never watched the original show so I don't have the same hate for this one as other older fans seem to have.

  • Woah...this guy does the voice of Man-At-Arms in the 2002 series. Weird hearing him as He-Man.

  • No. Just no.

  • not my cup of tea of he-man

  • @Aeric98 In the eye of the beholder.

  • whoa...........cartoons were cool back then

  • why do all the male characters look gay?

  • Ironically the ending credits and theme came bizarrely into my head today at work. And yet I genuinely could not remember what the show was called. I was so sure it was He Man but when I clicked on the 80s intro, it was nothing like it. Then I found out this version, clicked here and well, the ending credits for this show some of the clips shown in the intro and the music used here is the same in the intro. Thanks for helping me prove I didn't imagine it! Not as good as 80s He-Man though.

  • the only reason i clicked this is because it look so bad quality

  • ... what the fuck is this

  • Yup...I remember this. So disappointed when it came out. I was just a lad, but was a huge fan of the original. What a suck...

  • "My name is Primal of Cybertron, when good is threatened, by the power of the matrix, III AAAAAM OPTIMUUUUUUUS"

  • What the fuck is this?? I remember the old old Heman at the end of the theme song when Adam would say "I am Heman. The most powerful man in the Universe!" *punch cameraman* And I recall the Cartoon Network Master of the Universe Series (2000th) but I've never seen this version of Heman.

  • I always wondered what became of Eternia and the other characters when He Man left for the future! did She Ra have to deal with everything in He Man's absence! I guess she didn't have Skeletor to worry about because he had followed He Man into the future! He Man didn't seem to have any trouble moving on and forgetting all his old friends.

  • This was appalingly shit.

  • The updated animation was great...but was a shame they changed the theme of the show...serves the production company right...

  • This new Skeletor looks like a gerbil.

  • @anxietydown ....with a massive overbite.

  • Ilike this show, but it could never replace the orignal for me. But I did think the storylines were a bit more complicated than the original.

  • Now this is the He-Man I remember. Didn't realize it was Japanese-animated. Cool!

  • I preferred this show to the original.

It gave the same tired idea a fresh look and feel.

  • I loved Skeletor in this one. He was allways so damn sarcastic. :P

  • Believe it or not, people actually love this stuff.....well, people love spin-offs and remakes, but not me.

  • I agree with Nightmarcher, all the He-Man series were great. I even liked the 2002 remake and I was 19 when it came out. I don't remember much of this one because it was so short lived and I was so young at the time.

  • i remember not liking this one.but thats just my opnion.

  • i remember getting that sword for xmas...it was good. Would've liked the original sword.

  • Let's be honest - If this was the first He-man, it would have blown kids minds. If the original followed this one, everyone would have laughed at it.

  • LOL by the power of greyskull, I just threw up in my mouth!!!!

  • The babble continues?

  • Leave it to the French to @*&* this up!

  • All He-Man series have been great, including this one. Heavy sci-fi adventure with some fantasy thrown in (in that sense, the reverse of the original).

  • i liked this version better than the original

  • @gbrazor1 I did too!! I grew up on this show and like @overload81 said, the toys were amazing. To be honest the animation was simply awesome. The original is a classic, but come on, this series was insanely awesome

  • Wow... I've always had this extremely vague memory of something He-Man related from my childhood that wasn't the movie or the first show but since I never heard from it again I kinda thought I had imagined the whole thing. But no, it was probably this.

I have no opinion on the show itself. Just wanted to share my amazement that this really existed.

  • Great premise ...shitty designs and a shitty overall series ...great premise though

  • @TrsDevil WTF? How was it shitty? It was better than the cheesefest original

  • Oh, I see the problem. It's made in France.

  • @nexus1g

Nope it was made in the US by a french producer. which doesn't mean much, as the guy produced as much shit (Popples, the latter seasons of G.I.Joe, etc.) as he produced good stuff (Ulysse 31, Cities of Gold, etc).

  • BIGGEST INSULT TO HE MAN

  • By the power of GREYSKULL you imposter!

  • @urtv1 "He" was summoned to the future I always assumed he said that instead of Greyskull because castle Greyskull no longer existed at whatever point in the future this series was set!

  • Adam of Greyskull? By the power of Eternia? Why change such elemental aspects of the mythos?

Anyhow, I don't remember this show. Probably a good thing.

  • @TampaRed It's not as bad as it looks..That's not saying a whole lot tho.

  • @TampaRed I think the reason they did this was because castle Greyskull no longer existed in this future but they wanted to retain the link to the original series and I suppose at this point he had to call upon the power of eternia instead.

  • I heard about this version of He-Man and the MOTU.

Everyone said that it was a god-aweful series.

It looks like they were right.

    XD

  • man, did this series suck.

  • @markhorneyuk Wow, interesting you say that.. I always remember loving this. Masters of the Universe was the film I use to watch every day as a kid. It used to drive my dad mental. I preferred this one to the original series.

  • @kase85 ....ermmm.... why?

  • Uh answer me this why does He man's power sword looks like a key blade from kingdom hearts LOL

  • Hey get this Optimus Prime is on a new planet and oddly enough it's called Primus Lol which was a planet size transformer in cybertron.Or you could say Planet cybertron was primus himself.

  • 0:50 - 0:52 The gayest He Man ever.

  • Never heard of it , its 2011 now and I have all the original He-man and the Cartoon Network He-Man, yet somehow this has escaped my attention all these years. looks really bad though.

  • The power of the good and the way of the magic?

  • @platypusrex, yup and that was just 1 in a million reasons why this series ONLY HAD ONE SEASON....PMSL

  • looks like the writers of this crap must like dick sandwiches

  • This show had a charm of its own.

  • @ianpatph And it will always be on its own. Hehe.

  • Comment removed

  • this show sucks the other series(s) are so much better

  • He's not as bulky as the original fella.

  • Skeletor sounds like a Librarian in this show.

  • send me a PM if anyone knows where i can get or watch this again ^^ for free of course lol

  • filmation is american this animation is japanese

  • Why is it that Skeletor didn't recognize Adam that whole time?

  • That's a good question because he see Adam in one of the episode called Adam's Adventure .Beside he could have put 2and 2 together then got He -Man .

  • I would like to punch everyone who had a creative hand in this crap right in their fat mouths. That is all.

  • This and the 2002 he man are good where heman doesnt move gay and isnt a rip off of conan the barbarian

  • @HaohmaruOfTheWind , Dude, don't know if you know, but it all started with conan the barbarian, He-man is BASED ON CONAN! Mattel came up with the idea of the toy line Conan the barbarian, but they thought as the movie was too volient and parents wouldn't want them to play with their toys, they renamed the toy to He-man and the motu, thus all the he-man cartoons are ACTUALLY PROMOTIONAL CARTOONS FOR THE TOYS, If there wasnt a conan movie, there wouldn't of been a he-man cartoon, incredible.

  • holly shit i cant say how bad this ist.

    Heman in future?

Bad bader Heman in the Future oh no not again

  • this is what killed he-man...

  • It's because people are too closed minded about He- man and when someone tries changes it everyone cries ....

  • @BlackRaptor1900

Well, I agree on most of it but still... When I was kid I didn't care is he rip off or not or whatever was behind that cartoon. I watched few episodes of this He-man and I got disappointed because "morality" which this cartoon had with all those advices was gone...

  • @BlueThunder2396

However this show was made because of the flimation, the team that made the show wanted He- Man to have fresh start and not just copy the first. Also the New Adv was the final chapter in the He-Man story..... I guess you saw the ending right??

  • @BlackRaptor1900

No, as a kid I rejected to watch New Adv and when I grew older I didn't want to see the ending 'cause I felt like part of my childhood would end :) as I said, you have a point. I am a bit close minded on this subject but it's hard to help it.

  • Still as gay as ever, so I'm happy

  • WOW THANK GOD I DON'T REMEMBER THAT!

  • The melody of this opening followed me for 18 years, now i finally found where it belongs, lol. I remember that this was one of my favorite series, can't find out why all the ppl here are whining about the story and compare it to the classic series. This one had the better looking sword! AND THAT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT for an 8 year old! And it had spaceships!

  • @GravitasFreeZone

You too?! Thank you !!! I thought that the New Adv was awesome !!! When it dvd I had 2 get it , that music was amazing and beside the guy who did the music "Haim Saban" did alot of music in the 80's for disney shows ..

  • i wonder why so many people are pissed about the series. sure the first one was iconic and the 2002 series was far better in storytelling, but i remember that i really liked the show when i was a kid so it did its job to entertain children. then we all have to agree that it had far superior animation than the first series. and from a toy collector´s point of view it had awesome vehikles, especially the giant spaceship.

  • @overload81

I thought that the The New Adventures of He-Man was a pretty decent sci-fi cartoon in its own right, but c'mon, they took He-Man's *muscles* away.

  • They wanted to give him a new look and show that he had a brain too.

  • @BlackRaptor1900

According to Roger Sweet (the toy designer who invented He-Man), the Mattel company literally had him downsized. A big reason they made him with less muscle was so they could use less plastic in manufacturing the action figure and thus cut costs. Due to the changing economy of the late 80's it was getting impossible to continue making action figures with the bulk of the original MOTU toys, and still be able to sell them at the standard $5-$6 a piece.

  • @logik316

I remember the toys I had He-Man and that power sword . But all in all I liked because it was different kinda of He-Man toy . As for what I said about him having a brain ,you got to see the episode called Crack in the Planet . He- Man used Skeletor's staff against him!! Also the episode called the Youngest Hero.

  • @logik316

I remember the toys I had He-Man , Skeletor ,Hydria and He-Man's power sword . But all in all I liked because it was different kinda of He-Man toy plus they moved alot more then others . As for what I said about him having a brain ,you got to see the episode called Crack in the Planet . He- Man used Skeletor's staff against him!! Also the episode called the Youngest Hero.

  • @overload81

Starship Eternia , yes I remember that one !! It was awesome !! They named it that because He- Man save the

planet from burning up with some crystals .... I think the episode was called Quest for the Crystals .

  • Okay, that was the guy that voiced Optimus Primal in Beast Wars, as well as Prime during the Unicron Trilogy, and the planet the "good guys" lived on was Primus? Seriously?

  • @TheOmegaParadigm he's none other than

    garry chalk

  • Had a ton of this toy-line that was released.

  • is that uncle phil???

  • i totally agree that the original and the 2002 version were awesome.. the 2002 version was pretty good for me cos it added a lot more dynamics in terms of backstory and where it was all leading..

  • Did they watch the original series? He should say "My name is Adam of Eternia" and "By the power of Greyskull!"

Still, I've seen even worse cartoons so.

  • im a fan of the oldschool heman and i collect the figures but this shit is gay ass hell dam

  • I only recently watched this show. Yeah He-man himself was bland but I did like the changes to Skeletor. He went from "I'm Evil" to "I'm Evil and an asshole"

  • hell yeah I remember watching the first episode and thinking WTF! well not wtf but the 8 year old equivilent! This was shit! A shocking revival

  • this show is a disgrace to the original one, the 2002 version does the original justice

  • Just crazy, that line up of heroes is so bland, and He-man jumping around in that hyper-motion sickness anime way!? This show would've been rememberable if it had been a completely original character. Lucky MOTU was redeemed by the 2002 series.

  • well ya it was not great but still interesting a little bit but it would been nicer with remake

  • wtf I never saw this, this sux....old he-man and new one from 2k's rule :D

  • prince adam cycled off the juice he did in the 80s.

  • I can remember watching the origian He-Man, I was there every afternoon. Loved that cartoon! But, this new He-Man never really grabbed me like the original did. I don't know, but I never go in to it. It might have been because I had grown up (although my tastes in cartoons hadn't changed that much), I don't know! Guess that He-Man's day had done came and went. Oh well

  • Prefered the classics. Those were too much Japanese style...

  • I had forgotten that this show even existed! Thank you YouTube!

  • I didn't like the new adventures of he man, I was so used to the old one, however I thought the toys for this series were awesome!

  • Really ? The episodes weren't that bad , I mean the show lasted almost 3 or 4 years on re run and thats only because they 66 episodes I think...

  • i loved this show, classic school holidays early mornings on GMTV Kids here in the uk. Usually a bit of this and Legend of Zelda before Richard and Judy with shitty This Morning

  • You can tell this was animated in Japan. What year was this from, 1989?

  • I liked this series, may not have been all filmation an junk but it was still fun to watch. I have all the dvds for it.

  • Wait a Min. Did Adam say "I am Adam of Grayskull, by the Power of Eternia!"?

Even though this was a Spin-off they should have kept it Adam of Eternia and the Power of Grayskull!

  • There was a reason for that , because he was so far from Grayskull he had to call to on Eternia , In fact if you watch the first episode of the New Adv of He- Man Adam does say by the power of Grayskull .

  • how long did this show go on for

  • 65 episode and this was really suppose be what happened after Masters of the Univerus .

  • It winds me up so much that I can't find this show in the UK, well on like amazon and play they have quite expensive region 1 dvds but that doesn't help as 1 I don't have that sort of money at the moment and 2 I don't have a region 1 dvd player, well I don't have a normal dvd player full stop!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...whatever

  • I mean the way of the magic!

  • LOL ..and the power of the magic

  • you mean the power of good and the way of the magic

  • I hated this so much.

  • seriously, i live in europe, where the hell can i find the dvds under 30 gbp?

  • Online or a best Buy

  • hell no ,this Heman kicked ass,it was just different,u are just used to the original show

  • Dam right !!!

  • Shouldn't it be "Adam from Eternia" and "by the Power of Grayskull"?

  • Yes and no

  • @sagaofbluewing I assume Greyskull was gone in the future time period in which this series was set so it made more sense to reference Greyskull first as the origin point, having said that I don't remember seeing eternia either.

  • i suppose its like me with transformers(, i cant stand the enw continuity's and prefer the G1 stuff ) with you guys , but i actualy liked this series as a kid , i was born in 89 and loved this show, lost all memory of it and for the past few years thought the original was the one i watched lol

  • Loved the original series as kid growing up, but this version is horrible... they should leave good classics alone and stop trying to remake or reinvent them.

  • This was made because of the classic He- man , See the interview of the new adv of He-man

  • This just never did it for me. Was happy to see He-man back on TV, but, don't know, there was just something missing. Needless to say, it piqued my interest at first, but I got turned off to it shortly thereafter.

  • Loved the original series but never got into this...

  • I user to wach this When i was a Kid. I've 2 Action Figures only.

  • cud never stand this version the original he man was great !!!

jayce and the wheeled warriors were brill!

  • tak he man to jest to

  • Is that Optimus Primal?

  • Yes, yes it is. Gary Chalk himself. He later voiced Man-At-Arms in the 2002 He-Man series.

  • yes, I had to listen a second and third time, but at the end he says, The Babble continues

  • he clearly says battle

  • Skeletor was so camp in this version

  • @katakisLives

he was done up to be The Joker to He-Mans' Batman.

And even though he was camp, he actually succeeded at being a villain. Something the original never did.

  • By the power of Eternia, I HAVE NO BALLS!!!

  • I preferred this version as a child.

  • this suckzz - original he man is much better

  • Not only does the animation suck, but the storyline is BORRRRRRRRING!

  • Boy, I remember watching this when it aired in about 1990. I was absolutely shocked cos I thought it was going to be new episodes of the orginal He-man so when this came on I couldn't believe my eyes. Still watched it, but it's not that good.

  • @shitcasecinema, I'm a huge fan of he-man, i'm so pathetic, I thought masters of the universe movie was watchable, but.....this... I would rather chop my own dick off than watch theses series, I watched one episode and that was it, the beggining, I thought "WHAT THE FUCK???, By the power of eternia?!, Adam of greyskull?" skeletor talks like a faggot, he-man looks a skinny gay right parade leader, it just sucks! "

  • i hate this version

  • this version ITS PURE SSSSHHHIIITTT, I HATE THIS VERSION the version of the 80s was the best

  • wasn't this made just after the live action film of He-Man

  • YEAH Man

  • ok just wanting a hand couldn't remmeber cheers sure to watch this during the summer holiday

  • I remember Having the Toy Sword

  • To this day I totally love the design of the mutants mothership. It's so awesome! (also, a couple of vehicle / robot designs are very cool as well).

Also, as mentioned before... this versions Skeletor is so great!

I am probably the only one that really likes the music in this too.

This, Thundercats, Dinoriders, Mask, Transformers and a few others were the shit back then, and still are very entertaining today. Too bad they don't do 'em like that anymore...

  • By the power of Dildos, and the endless rimmed tunnel of his anus he is SHE-MAN! LMAO j/k but this series sucks more than a whore who takes tips in free cookies!. May I add my Grandmother can yell "I have the power" better than this ass-clown in her sleep! :D Long live the real He-Man!!!!!

  • Hehe, it's hard not to watch this intro without picturing the 2002 Man-At-Arms standing in a recording booth reading these lines, since this version of He-Man the 02 Man-At-Arms were both voiced by the one & only Gary "Optimus Primal" Chalk.

  • I`ve met He-Man. I`ve eaten with He-Man. And let me tell you sir, you....are no He-Man

  • Cheep as chips!!!!!! long live the real motu.x

  • Yes...long live the show where the animation was even..erm..cheaper

  • Visually it does look very good! I recently picked up the Prince Valiant series done a little after this and it looks similar visually. Valiant is a great series.

I'll most likely pick this up. I'm very forgiving.

  • this cartoon sucked ass!!!!

he-man went from an adonis to a athlete and prince adam looked like a fucking pauper in those rags. also why would skeletor follow him??? with he-man gone grayskull is defensless!!!

  • Because He-Man absorbed all the Power of Grayskull before he went through time, meaning that Grayskull is without power anymore. So Skeletor had to follow He-Man if he still wanted the power.

  • it blows goats

  • THANK YOU!!!!

i HATED this version of he-man!!!

  • 1990!!! OMG!!!

  • Adam looks like something out of a bible cartoon.

  • you know what this cartoon was really gay i remember when i was about 7 it was christmas eve and i was waiting for he man 2 start thinking it was the origonal,oh i was disapointed IT RUINED MY LIFE!!!! lmao
