Years ago, in a music appreciation class (one I took to fill space to get my degree) we touched upon the baroque style....one line of instrument, with layers added one by one by one, to a full crescendo. Call me nerdgirl, but this song fits that. So - I say, minus the crazy psycho girlfriend in the video, Bach could've written this. I love this song. Composing is not dead, it just has a newer form (albeit an older contemporary song.....)

I disagree, as much as I like this song and despite how awesome it is, it can't compare to the works of the great composers. This is fairly simple riff which Brahms could have blown away easily, and he in fact did. That being said for all the genius and complexity of the Great Composers this song is simple and dynamic so it is far more appealing and remains in your head forever. Both Everclear and Johannes Brahms are therefore worthy of respect and admiration.
