alaraa75 is right about Romani and their different styles according to the country they're in. It would be natural after many many generations for there to be some sort of fusion between their culture and that of the country in which they are in. Belly dance is not from the Romani and never was.... however belly dancing is part of Turkish culture and there are Romani in Turkey.... hence the fusion. I don't know what the confusion is about. It's just logical.
I admire Didems talent she really is the best belly dancer in Turkey but she is not that good enough on roman dance she is dancing oriental much better. This is just my opinion of course
wow i love all her DANCES ... SHE IS VERY VERY VERY TALENTEDDD!! i love all her dances . ad she is very beautifull.. i know everything about her!! i always practice her dancess.. coz she got the bestt... i bet people who says she doenst know how to dance maybe they are jelouse or blind co now one in this world will ever say she doesnt know how to dance... keep on going my hunny didem.. wish u all the best!!
@pembetas No it isn't. It is just the Turkish tourism that tries to sell it in as Romani (Gypsy) dancing due to it being seen as un-Islamic. The truth is Romani don't and never have had any form of belly dance. It is a Middle Eastern form of dancing that dates back before Islam. We have our own form of dancing and this isn't remotely like it. All throughout Europe in all the different Romani branches are a form of tap dance and clapping - but not one belly dance. Why say it is ours??
@Tsigano sorry but I think you are little bit wrong about it. Its not a turkish tourism thing.Every place has its own different kind of romani style like flamenco in Spain for example, so it depends on where romans lives. And the music culture gets mixed. Yes the roman has not a form of belly dance but like I said the culture gets mixed depending on which part of the world romans are living.
@alaraa75 The thing is Flamenco is very similar to real Romani music as is the dance. It is common belief amongst many Romani that the dance is originally from us - as is the guitar. Spanish Romani came down from Flemish lands in 1425. Listen to Romani folk songs from the Sinti of Germany and you will hear music that is very similar. The dance has tap dance and clapping as every Romani branch of dancing. That or we clap the back of our legs. We move our feet. We do not gyrate our waste line.
@alaraa75 flamenco uses a 12 beat which is an Indian beat. The word Guitar is from Indian "Geet" meaning song and "tar" meaning string. When the Spanish Romani arrived in Spain in 1425ad, we then find records from the beginning of the 1500s that they were valued for their music. In the early 1500s Romani from Spain are even recorded as being sent to Scotland & Scandinavia with their music. They must have had a massive impact on the Spanish music much like American blacks do on modern music.
@Tsigano and besides this is not even belly dance. And please its funny when youre are trying to teach us about turkey what is roman dance and what is not.For God sake this the dance name is "Roman" as we call in Turkey and this has excisted for God knows how many many years in Turkey so dont come here and try to teach my own country
@alaraa75 Sorry but it say "Romani" which is the name of my people. The fact is that so many Europeans try to say dances such as belly dance is "Romani" or "Gypsy" dancing. I even had it when I was actually in Turkey. I am raised Romani and know what is Romani and what is not as all true Romani do. Like yourself, I do not appreciate people trying to teach lies about my people.
@WhiiteAss u said she doesnt know how to dance???? u have eyes or something.. thats not arabic dance ,, thisis turkish roman dance its very dificult to dance.. wow go read about her and watch her other dances the say she doesnt know how to dance .. she is very talented... where are u from ??
