  • far better than kareena's "free love"

  • [iminent led]i like this song[/led]

    _____________

I have just posted some super Text FX!

  • One out of 10 songs which I like most and ever remember. Both the singer Asha and the actress Rekha have jointly given life to the lyric. In fact, my craze for this particular song never ends.

  • LAA JAWAB--A matchless perfection...............

  • Oh heavens!!! She was pure personification of elegant, womanly appeal, feminine strength, matchless beauty with core and power, and the raw magnetism towards men... yet NEVER what we term as "besharm"... Charming in her own distinctive manner, evoking the sensuality in men and envy in women, yet in no way vulgar or overt. Rekha redefines the words "ada", "lachak" and "nakhra" in a way that is pure yet brazen, gentle yet passionate... The one and only Umrao Jaan is Rekha. Never can she be remade!

  • Excellent... Atleast it's not a mixture of hollywood like present bollywood industry... !!

  • what a fantastic combination of music song and dance and matchless acting... :P

  • @TheDrjungi yeah.. outstanding song

  • Awesome

  • Unhone palkein uthaayi...... aur waqt tham sa gaya..... A voice n beauty that has transcended generation after generation of people... a timeless classic, this. :)

  • 12 ppl who disliked thought that it was button for download....

  • ek gaane ka nau-lakha haar ?? bhai ekdum sahi jarela hai dandha.. bujheli aarti mein ded lakh !! LOL

  • This song makes me tear up.. its beautiful & enchanting!! .. A classic song because of Rekha's acting & Asha's beautiful voice....

  • With all due respect to Ash, and the many beautiful faces of Indian cinema, this film and this woman can never be remade

  • GRET SONG

  • To me this is incredibly enchanting. I'm originally from Bangladesh but I've been living in the UK since I was 11, I nearly forgot my own language and had almost no connection left with Bangladesh.

I recently started watching Bollywood and other Indian/Bengali stuff and the style is so familiar yet so exotic it's quite strange.

I hope India regains it's glory and importance in the world, as for Bangladesh.. I hope they see the error of their ways soon, it hurts to see it in its current state.

  • this song is viry netural life

toyaif ka seny ma b dil hota ha

  • Superb song!! very well sung!!!

  • In ONE WORD......rekha is.......'GORGEOUS'......

  • Either this movie was really sad or I was just having a bad day coz I cried my eyes out watching this movie!

  • Can some one tell me who is the dance director or choreghrapher of this song?

  • I dont know the meaning of the words, but it is so catchy...

  • @Flash6384 its amazing, you should definitely look it up

  • Love This Song........ Great Song

  • There is such a refinement to high Indo-Muslim culture (poetry, music, literature, architectures, handicrafts, etc.)), that if you know it, there is nothing quite as sublime and sophisticated in the world like it. None of the "high" culture of Europe, etc., can compare. I remember watching this as a child. What a beautiful rendering of an Urdu classic. Rekha and Asha were a dynamite combination. And the music is achingly beautiful.

  • @RainPoetry 100% I agree to you.

  • @RainPoetry No doubt.........

  • @RainPoetry Why do we Indians always find it necessary to make disparaging comments on other cultures to flatter ours...

I'm pretty sure you aren't familiar with Ballet or European Classical Music, so please don't show your unculture here...

I love Indian Classical Dances and Carnatic and Hindustani Music as well as European or even East Asian Classical Arts, I don't have to make uneducated comparisons to flatter one by belittletering another...

  • @Varoonmg ~Sigh. Sometimes I forget everybody is a critic on Youtube. No one is more belittling than 'desis' I've found. I'm not Indian. I have grown up in the United States, I have studied and performed Western classical (symphony) music (played clarinet since the 3rd grade until I entered college). Favorites are Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Ravel. I basically love all forms of music, except opera and country, but that's just a preference. Don't make presumptions.

  • awsome lyrics with well decent video

  • Beautiful. Touches your soul, almost liek sitting in the mountains watching a stream flowing by.

  • wat a gr8 song...

  • SOUL TOUCHING SONG! REKHA SHUD TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS SONG BECAUSE EVEN YEARS ON PPL REMEMBER THIS SONG BECAUSE OF HER. HER TALENT AND PERFORMANCE HAS TRULY BEEN OUTSTANDING THROUGHOUT HER CAREER IN THE INDUSTRY AND U CAN WATCH THIS SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN. SHE TELLS A STORY THROUGH HER EYES!

  • Heart touching song

  • 6 people that didn't like this are obviously gay

  • Comment removed

  • @kzayzay you are so retarded..if anybody, it would be gay people that would like this..i don't understand a word but i find the music so captivating and her outfit is a dream, from the red henna to tip of her veil..she takes me to another realm

  • @ChanceMuse you are the retard, if anybody did like this why would it be gay people? they would probably prefer a man strutting around. anyway, what's it you, you must be gay. i was referring to people that clicked dislike on this. waste man.

  • this song is my most favorite

  • This is just something else - the film, the songs, the ghazals, the performances, especially Rekha. I'm trying my best to learn Urdu and especially Lucknow Urdu.

Why did they make a modern version of this film? How could they improve on perfection? This and the 1972 Heer Ranja, are my favourite films of all time. Both make me cry. Both great films.

  • @had79gul adaab :)

  • In this film there is a song by ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan if anyone can upload it thanks

  • The "sarangi", the "sitar" and Asha Bhosle's voice, a reminiscence of the first utterance of woman-kind ever heard by man and which humbled him, entices one to drift into that hall and allow the eyes and ears a forbidden treat of this worldly life.

  • Zabardast...Wah....!!!!!!!

  • zabardast!!!,

  • zabardast!!!

  • good

  • Why would anybody dislike this? What's wrong with you 3?

  • Honestly when i watched it with Ashwairiya doing the part i kept on searching for the mesmerising beauty and grace which Rekha constituted and i deeply feel the emotion with Rekha is stronger the direction, scene, the melodious song. Yes it is extremely sad that such direction and beauty can't be seen in todays hindi films.

  • heart touching song

  • TRANS Thousands are intoxicated by these eyes...Associated with these eyes are a thousand tales...The Intoxication of these eyes...You are not the only one disgraced for love of me...In this city, there are thousands like you...Thousands are intoxicated by these eyes...I'm the only one who intoxicates with my eyes...Though there thousands of taverns in the world...Thousands are intoxicated by these eyes...You think a gale can scare such a flame...A flame which is protected by a thousand moths...

  • rekha wasnt the most beautiful but she had one of the best screen presence she is so graceful

  • A killing combination of golden voice ,poetry, romance,Rekha's delicate expressions and great clean Indian music . Could not be better. One of finest piece of music and art.Immortal

  • THE MOST IMPORTANT INDIAN MOVIE EVER MADE, OF ALL TIME.

i am a movie critic in new york city, and i can honestly say no other film anywhere (usa, japan etc) is as epic (choreography, acting, cinematography. superb.

  • THE MOST IMPORTANT INDIAN MOVIE OF ALL TIME. I AM A FILM CRITIC HERE IN NEW YORK, AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY NO FILM -- IN NO OTHER CORNER OF THE WORLD (USA, JAPAN ETC) IS AS EPIC.

  • Epitome of perfection. Nothing better is possible.

  • This is the embodiment of "PERFECTION". The music, the lyrics, the choreography, the direction, and the acting all blend so optimally that you cannot ask for anything more. God bless all the participants.

  • i like this song very very mcuh id some one like this song then please mail me ok

  • wah kia baat hai, nice poetry& nice acting by REKHA ,my fav. movie & songs forever

  • khayyam mastero combination of asha's voice & rekha at her best .....ultimate combination !

  • One of the most amazing songs all time BEST

  • i love this chune and picture. it reminds me of Regal cinema in Vreed en hoop. WCD

  • Its sad that they dont make it like this anymore. Khayyam's music is hauntingly beautiful and accurately arranged. The instruments are doing what they are supposed to do - accompany the voice of the singer and not drown it in techno crazyness. Asha's voice melts your heart. I can't imagine anyone else singing this song. Rekha managed to infuse such passion in this role that you really feel like crying at the end when she returns to her kotha and looks at herself in that full length mirror.

  • best video i have seen and the most beautiful music and song.

  • I think there are two movies PAKEEZA and UMRAO JAN both by great DIECTORS KAMAL SAHIB and MUZZAFFER ALI which will go down in FILM history as LITERARY and legendary , with URDU GHAZALS and music outstanding ,

  • Really Awesome Song and the fabulous poetry

  • realli awesum :)

  • very touching song

  • The poetry is beautiful.......
