I use the SNES 9x emulaor and do the shift+F1 right before I said "yes" to writing in my diary and going to bed, that way, when I woke up, and it wasn't going to rain the next day, I could keep hitting F1 till it was going to rain the next day, yeah, it's cheating, but it saved a BUTT-LOAD of time

Whatever happened to this fast paced gameplay that made Harvest Moon so fun ?

It seems like as the list of HM games grows larger, the pacing of the game becomes slower. If that's the direction Natsume chose then they have lost me and several others forever.

It's impossible for me to handle such slow movement in later games like ToT or AP for the Wii.

It's farmy,and you court boys/girls,tepending on which version of a HM game you have(exept in Cute,you could court one of 4 special bacherlorettes from DS,japanese only,and it's only "best friending").

just once. when you ask the person to expand your house for the first time before spring ends (maybe 2-3 days before spring) you get a clock in the summer or after your house is expanded.

Actually, you need to request the expansion before the first summer ends. Even if the construction is completed during the fall, you'll still get the clock, as long as you did the above.

I've started to play this game on VC but when I put potatoes or something in the shipping box it doesn't say that I'll get money. Now I haven't got enough money to buy any seeds and I haven't got anything to sell. Do I have to start over from the beginning?

You have to make sure you ship your crops before 5:00. If you ship after that time, you won't get any money. And if you don't have any money, you can always go to the mountain and pick up grapes during the spring, fruit in summer and mushrooms in fall.

That was some nice farming! And to have two cows that early means you were working hard before, too :-)

One question comes to my mind: Why did you seed potatoes on the 25th? They take six days to grow, so there wouldn't be enough time for them before summer!

you can plant them in spring and they will stil grow in summer, it's only if you actually plant them in summer that they won't grow.

Yeah, I found out by now by myself, but thanks for the reply. There is an excellent FAQ over at GameFAQs which gave the tip to plant potatoes en masse on the last day of spring, since corn and tomatoes need very long to grow. That way you can harvest potatoes before the summer crops are fully grown. Makes a nice extra income :-)

Harvest Moon isn't supposed to be a thrilling game. There's not a whole lot of action. You don't beat up people or obtain any huge combos from doing anything.

It's a simple RPG about farming. Of course it's going to be a bit boring, but the craziest part is, you get addicted to the game quickly.

It's nice to fall back on a simple(r) game every now and then. There's less things to worry about. Not much (if any) sidequests to keep track of, no skill builds (otherwise you're screwed) and no giant dungeons to trek through.

...Also, since Fat C method needs spacing, that means less crops to plant, to the point where catching and shipping three fish wields greater profits. When the horse pops up you should be married = less crops planted when married, because watering takes a lot of time.

You're planting pattern isn't very affective. You lost allot of money per bag, even though you planted allot of bags. You could have gotten allot more money than you did.

I was trying to find a way to ship the most per day, and the more closer your crops are to the bin, the more you're able to ship. If I spread apart the crops planted in the fat C formation, I would've gotten less potatoes in the bin, therefore waste more days to finish the harvest.

IMO Horse isn't as reliable, but that's just me.

IIRC, the Horse turns around ocansionally, so the crop I throw at the "portable shipping bin" may be wasted.
