Fantastic tutorial, very easy to follow, slow then speeds up so you know what it sounds like played at normal speed. Djembe hand drum--his sounds awesome too--beyond the 3 basic notes in djembe, so this is for beyond the basics, and it's one of the best how-to videos I've seen of thousands, here on youtube.
I like the way you break things down. I am a rank beginner, and while it will take me some time to get some of these skills, The break down is great and easy to understand. THANK YOU
the heel is usually more the palm and results in a meatier sound - traditionally more sought after.
The open tone is produced with less ringing overtones when played farther into the drum - the pad of the hand nearest the base of the fingers usually contacts the head where it contacts the shell. You're playing it from below the knuckles which is a thinner tone + overtones and may result in strange calluses later on.
man amazing, thanks for breaking down the technique and "slowly" bringing it up to full speed. this was one hard to find video. keep'em coming. can you post your double-stroke roll's BPM to aim as a benchmark ? this would be great to know what level i need to get to sound liek you !

nice work, very clear and concise.
