@dexterro6010 kohler makes great engines, especially for all of the abuse this one endured, my neighbor used to own it, he messed with the governor to make it run way faster than it should have, but still runs great, just smokes when it's cold
i cant quite read your serial # clearly, but if its a 7 digit serial # and your first 2 digits are 43 which is what i can make out of the blurry image, your blower is a 1972 model. if your serial # is 6 digets it will have a letter before it. the letter stands for the year of mfg.
it is a seven digit and the first digits are 43, thanks for the info, i wasn't sure how to read the date code on a kohler, but i figured it was somewhere around the 70s
I found one of those with a briggs on it. Brought it home then tried to crank it and the thing was seized so bad that we just ended up destroying it. I still have the fan but cant get part of the crank off of it. But I also have a little wonder, the thing is GREAT!
cool, i just found a toro recycler with a 4hp briggs electric start in the woods today. engine feels stiff but not seized, im going to see what i can do with it
Those Kohler k181's are beasts. Back both idle jet screws out one turn to keep it running. I have a lo-blo with the same engine I just restored a year ago. Those engines run best if you give it a 2 minute low idle warm up, and a 2 minute low idle shut down.
nice find, put in some new rings and you can get $150 for it. But what is a big blower like this used for

I have the same blower, only with a 7HP. Mine doesn't smoke though; was rebuilt sometime in its life.
