@Jou1394 Because it sounds completely diferent, when you play with your pick, it souds more sharp, you can feel the pick going string by string, although, when you play with your thumb, it's much more smooth.. I don't know if you get it, but it's the idea.

Respond to this video... It's crazy to hear Joe Satriani and he 's got his distortion and phenomenal playing and change ups. And then I hear the start of Eric Johnson and his band and I start grooven to it right away. Love both guitar players but Eric johnson's sound is beautiful. Seen him on a couple of clips where he is talking about the guitars and he just messes around on one and it sounds great.

@fergusguitar Well, its really a matter of blending 2 or 3 amps at a time. He uses a dumble and a marshall for his OD IIRC. But his OD isn't just one amp, its blending a few. That's why it sounds so full and differently voiced.

I saw the G3 tour in Austin when it was Petrucci, Vai, and Satch - 2003, I think. Anyway, during the final jam ("LaGrange"), Eric came out as a guest. Well, he is the fourth guy to solo, and he nailed it. Complete domination. I was watching Vai at the time because I had a bad angle to see EJ. Vai turns to Billy Sheehan and says "I told you." It was sheer greatness, especially when you realize that Sheehan didn't know about EJ apparently.

First of all Manhattan looks and feels a lot different through the eyes and soul of an artist..It isnt the hustle bustle that everyday common working folk feel and see... Secondly as a guitarist ..to have written such an incredible piece and then to improvise on it live and make it as good if not better than the studio version with all the different styles and techniques blended perfectly together, the tone the touch is just amazingly brilliant, if a guitarist isn't floored by this, they suck
