  • Wonderful piece for such a cornball movie

  • Ainda bem que ela aprendeu a ser uma mulher arrumada e limpinha, né? Não é à toa que ela largou o showbiz....

  • my grandads favourite song R.I.P Gliso 'did' Duric June 4th 2011 you will missed always and forever loved by so many

  • "Flawless ... camera angle and stance" . Mr. MysticMuse knows his stuff ! Very True.

  • "You Make The Sun Shine Brighter Than Doris Day " a line and an underhanded compliment to Doris from Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go" says it all. She makes me happy. Love you Doris!

  • OMG this is SOOOO 1950s, the way she pronounces, accentuates, softens with a vibrato, turns "s" into "sh". etc etc just like Rosemary Clooney, Patti Page, Dinah Shore, Marilyn Monroe...

  • @wattever333: Film, CALAMITY JANE, was released in November, 1953.

  • @nosamici I didn't ask a question. I know all that. You missed my point.

  • @wattever333: No, I didn't, actually LOL.....Can we be friends now?

  • Lesbianism isn't 'crap' and it isn't corrupt. I agree though...she's singing about a man here. Singing very beautifully!! Priceless clip. Thank you for posting!

  • there will never be another like doris -fantastic

  • Flawless! I especially love when she shoots out from behind the tree and BELTS OUT "Now I Shout it From The Highest Hill...!". That stance and camera angle is priceless.

A powerful voice and a heck of a woman.

  • Very nice song.

  • once i had a secret love.............mmmmmmmmmmmmmh love it

  • Doris was always unfairly criticised for her "goody two shoes", schmaltzy roles she played in her films, but she had one of the greatest voices ever and was, and still is a fantastic human being and her Aussie fans love her!

  • My fav!!!

  • Beautiful song and person I love you doris day!

  • Oh, Doris Day. What a beautiful person and voice. Sometimes I really wish I'd grown up around THIS music and not the crap that's out today. Oh well.. Lil' Wayne? Good riddance, *puts on headphones to Audrey Hepburn* :)

  • @VampireMonkey44 guess it depends on how old you are

  • @VampireMonkey44 Most of the mainstream music is crap but I'd be happy to show you very much awesome music that is being made today but simply not being showcased in mainstream media.

  • @thesomeoneinatree Thank you very much for that offer, and I'm willing and ready to learn. I really have a love for all types and styles and sounds of music and I love learning about new stuff. I appreciate all genres and am open to everything. For the most part, I enjoy anything, but there are things I favor more than others. When I mean "crap out today", I usually mean songs about pointless topics.. repetitive, etc. Things that get old fast. I don't know how to explain!

  • All this stuff about this song having a lesbian subtext- hasn't EVERYONE had a time when they've loved someone and either not been fully aware of it themselves or not been able to tell anybody?! ...She is singing about a man and as a straight female, I can relate to the song as well as anybody else.

Anyway, great song :D Doris Day is amazing.

  • @roxyqueen2 i agree, it was the friggin womans touch one that everyone got crazy about, they were talking about cooking and cleaning and making everything pretty and girly, not flippin lesbianism, they're both chasing after the same MAN for christs sake! why do people have to corrupt things that are so simple and innocent! there is no underlying subtexts in calamity jane, its a simple cheesy musical, and thats why i love it!

  • @HRHiHat AMEN! It's a shame people have that crap on their minds. It was still an innocent time in the movies. Sometimes two girls in a cabin are just pals, not lesbians!

  • @HRHiHat AMEN! It's a shame people have that crap on their minds. It was still an innocent time in the movies. Sometimes two girls in a cabin are just pals, not lesbians!

  • Gay or not? This Lady is Class-or you?

  • WTF is this gay crap. Get a life people. Not everyone is gay. Just a few of us.

  • a classic song from a beautiful lady.

  • a classic song from a beautiful lady.

  • Class is class-you have or you don't.

  • She was and isa triple threat along with Debbie Reynolds-Amazing!. Sadly from what I heard JLO is also a triple threat? Explain?

  • And this is why she's a gay icon!

  • I love how she can still look classy while avoiding a branch to the face!

  • it has nothing to do with being gay ffs!!! its a film about her falling in love with a man.why the hell does everything have to have gay hints in it,there is straight people still left you know.thats like saying jodie foster isnt a lesbian because she made bugsy malone? it really isnt about your gender.Doris Day was a lovely person and a very overlooked actress .just a lovely song so stop with the gay crap .

  • Lesbian?

  • @burninplant. lol,saw this film recently for the first time since childhood, seriously, how did they get away with the blatent lesbian subtext back then :) See also "A womans touch" clip.....

  • Nobody sing this better then Doris Day, I just cannot beleave so many years have gone by .I saw the movie in 1953..

  • This is an All Time Fav Love Song for <3 Day WeekEnd. From Cow Gal Sandy.

    1 Corinthians 13:6-7

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

  • this song was after I graduated in High school.Love to hear this song on the radio spedially in the evening

  • I just love this song!

  • I knew this song from George Michael version of 1999...a real jewel, now and then...

  • I think Justin Bieber could sing it better. And dance too Joking DD is very prim and proper sexy. The kind you kick the toilet seat down for.

  • @Foeley Justin Beiber would ruin it with synths

  • @ransman413 Justin who ?

  • First saw this film when I was a wee girl, Mum used to sing it to my Dad :) Thanks

  • I'm glad she and the horse finally came out.

  • Calamity Jane makes me like Doris Day. lol

  • I always wanted to play Calamity in this musical, she's such a wonderful character and Doris Day will always be the epitome of the character - a beautiful woman that is totally unaware of how pretty she is and likeable despite being pig headed and a little arrogant.

  • that year was 9 years old, and still remember some of the movies she had acted it, just simply beautiful

  • I dont suppose she ever got her shirt off?

  • @kennnmoran LMFAO

  • Amazing

  • Yes her voice is wonderful. However according to the kids on her tv show she wasnt a very nice person. And diretor was an asshole.. And SHE did nothing to help...so much for her female side... And she even said one time this song was meant for the lady who played the singer in this movie. so it was a gay love she was singing about...

  • @babyycat Oh my singing about gay love , whatever next !

  • conjectural?

  • Goosbumps Much Talent and Great Voice.. She would have been Great with Dean Martin!

  • Hollywood at its zenith

  • this is a wonderfull song and everyone should know it. Fantastic xx
