MTV music awards suck now. They stopped being good in like 2004 or even before then. Godd why couldn't I have grown up in the 90's so that the MTV music awards were on I'd be excited about watching pearl jam and nirvana :/
Great evening of real musicians ....talant ...Nirvana , Pearl Jam ...Peppers ..even Axl Rose ...this was when the MTV music awards was about the real music..! Recall and still have this on VHS ....great memories ....
Every school has a Jeremy.....its just a matter of when he blows and how far he goes.
I'll bet that little Eddie Vedder was a Jeremy.....I can see him writhing around on the gym floor in a convulsive fit after getting his ass kicked for screwing up in intramurals. Beware of the Jeremys!
actually, he was harrasing jeremy-like kid of his school. you can clearly tell it by "clearly i remember picking on that boy, seemed a harmless little fuck, but we unleashed a lion"
@rn4n63r I'm speaking in general....I'm not interpreting the lyrics of the song....I know perfectly well what the song is about.
By the way as you grow older I hope you can let go of this depressing kind of music.....I'm 45 and I rarely listen to the crap I grew up with, even though it was more upbeat than the grunge genre.....remember, its all for kids.....we got too many 30+ year olds who won't grow up
@possumtail but if you stick with a band and still listen to them you will see how they too have grown. Pick up Backspacer and tell me what you think.
@redskeeter1 There is too much REAL music out there to be wasting your time listening to what you did as a teen/young adult. Discover jazz or real blues or even old country if you can stand it....go back and listen to the styles that started it all. I find it purer and unquenchable and much more satisfying as an adult....kind of like switching to fruit and laying of the sweets
If you don't then you're going to be barren someday, I guarantee it
@possumtail Dude, I listen to all types of music but these guys are my #1. There is absolutly nothing wrong with having a favortie band. I will be going to PJ 20 at Alpine Valley this labor day weekend and there are going to be some great artist there like Glann Hansard, Liam Finn, John Doe, The Strokes, Queens of the Stone age & Jooseph Arthur who might be one of the the most underated. To each there own
vedder is still here and kurt isn't!!!! winner=pearl jam!!!! fuck yeah! i saw both bands several times in the early 90's i think pearl was alot better than nirvana live!
kurt was just pissed of with everyone putting all these bands into one big group and calling it a made up name "grunge"
I think had they of met properly and talked for a while kurt would have realised that Eddie and himself had a lot of things in common apart from the obvious.
@h879xx Kurt and eddie actually did meet each other and spoke over the phone a couple of times... kurt plainly said - i've met eddie, and i think he's a nice guy... i just hate his band... which is fine... kurt was his own man...
As far as the Dave versus Matt debate, I have seen them with both, most recently in Hartford 5/15/10 & an all-time Great Show in Philly on Halloween. Their styles are very different Dave played w/ Great energy and passion, but is not as technical sound as Matt. It is also tempo, and do like Dave better for some songs especially Even Flow & Black, Matt tends to play at a faster tempo, IMO. However, both the hartford & Philly shows were both Great!
after Pearl Jam's set, Kurt Cobain came up to Eddie and said he thinks he's a good human being and a passionate performer, even though he still thought the band was crap. Closest Kurt came to giving them a compliment
@demravager : Just a quick story on the type of People Kurt & Eddie are, I work venue security for many years from late 80's to about 2000 and had the chance to meet Ed, and work 2 Nirvana shows, Kurt was your typical Jack Ass Rock Star, treating all the staff, like shits. My experience with Ed was totally different very apprecitive of the staffs efforts. He actually waited 15-20 mins while one of our female staffers went to her car to get a CD & poster for him to sign & got rest of guys sign!
@keepnfaith44 That's a really good story, thanks for sharing that. I think at the point for Kurt (who used to be polite and nice to people) his drug habits had just ruined his personality, which is probably why he was mean to everyone. Eddie, on the other hand, has always been a working class hero.
I totally have the entire MTV Video Music Awards 1992 on VHS. When I reached this performance I went nuts! :D ♥ I got to see how awesome these guys are. And how MTV used to play good music. [:
does anyone knows the song that is played at the beginning?
