This is a wonderful village - one of the most complete I've seen. You have a lot of items that I've not ever seen before (like the house on fire and the construction site). Great job! We have a large display using a lot of Lemax items and Lionel trains at "Livingston Christmas Train Village" that i hope you'll like.
hello, I would first like to congratulate you on your beautiful village. If you watch the film of the village, you see at 5 minutes and 6 seconds that there is a puppet / man with a yellow jacket that climbs a ladder to the roof of the house to go to fix the roof Could you tell me what brand this item / part is from and what year it was purchased this related to the occupation of my father, roofer there fore we would like to purchased it for him Sincerely Cynthia

Wonderful! You have a talent for setting up vignettes and your sister did the village justice with photos and video.
You created my favorite town center. The buildings are close together and none of the streets are straight. Makes the village look a bit more organic in the hills. Street lighting is warm and adorable. Great job on the backdrop!
Time to write up your TIp Sheet and sell it for a few bucks. What wonderful memories you must be making at holiday time. Thanks for posting!
Neat!! My boss has some Department 56 buildings at his store that he would like to get rid of at half-price. If anyone wants a list, please send me a message.
I use two inch styrofoam for the bases and I block them up two inches from the table foundations. I cut holes through the styrofoam under or behind each building and feed the cords through the holes. The two inch void between the styrofoam and tables has cords going everywhere! Thanks for posting.
I mix patching plaster with water and dip handiwipes (the thin disposable dish clothes) into the plaster. I drape the coated handiwipes over the basic foundation that I made out of two inch styrofoam to give the effect of drifts.
Great Display. I have over 250 houses, mostly Lemax but I use less than 30% per display.
I Love your Video technique, mixed with stills, very effective. Congratulations, and thanks for the joy it has brought me to see such a nice layout by someone who is obviously as mad about Villaging as I am.
I really enjoyed your village. Is this also the village for 2009, or did you make changes. I change mine every year, and wondered if you did also. You have a lot of detail, and I like that a lot. How did you make it look like smoke coming out the windows of the house on fire? That is one of my favorites you have. And please tell your sister that she did a great job videoing. Merry Christmas, and may God Bless you and your family through the holidays.
I'm glad you enjoyed the slide show. This was last year's display. I only set it up every other year. The smoke was cotton that I rubbed in a powdered, charcoal colored eye shadow. Best wishes in 2009!
Nice village and nice set up! I have over 50 Dept 56 building myself but I love the one you had the fireman at and you made it look like it was on fire. Which piece is that? I've also never seen power poles like that - how did you do them? You do an awesome job with your multi-dimensional setup and what meticulous attention to detail you have!!!
The house on fire is a spanish house. I don't remember the name of it without looking it up. My father made the power poles for me. Thanks so much for your comments.
GREAT JOB, I am also a snow village collector. How long to you keep it up? I have 17 peices or buildings, and its getting harder snd harder to find space.
Thanks for your comment Jennorth. I start setting it up right after halloween and don't take it down until February or sometimes March. It is a fun hobby and I love to share it with people!
Thank you. I am always anxious to set it up every other year, but then, while in the middle of the mess, I want to pull my hair out! Merry Christmas to you!
I love your village! Beautiful job!!

That piece came with "A Home in the Making" (Snow Village #54979). It has retired, but there are many listings on ebay.
I'm glad you enjoyed my video. Happy Holidays!

What do you use for your roads and ground covering on the styrofoam, or is it just styrofoam

what are your snowy mountains made out of? One of the best looking displays on youtube by the way!
ariche503 2 years ago
The background mountains are 4'x8' sheets of 2" styrofoam that I carved and painted. Thanks so much for your comment.

I meant the mountains that your gondola and skiers are on...were those made too or were they store bought?
