Fuel lines after a disaster

I was in 2 gas lines after Ike. One was 4 hours long, and I got nothing. The next day, I got into a 1-hour line at the same place and was able to fill up, although the gas went up 20 cents a gallon during that hour. No, there were no deliveries during that hour.

the reason people are blocking the intersection is because if they don't, someone will just come along and cut in front of them.

I now have enough gas cans for about 55 gallons of fuel for my generator or cars. Hopefully that will do us for a few days. My husband's truck uses diesel and he has an auxiliary tank.

there was four county managers that disappaer after the tropical strom FAY here in Florida they had four weeks off with pay and had taken extra survival supplies from the each of the counties they where from two had non-breakable contracts while the other two just was fire with pay for the rest of the year .

Pilot never lost power. They built it a year or two after hurricane Rita. They also installed backup generators turn run everything. A++ for engineering in my book.

I ride my Harley. It cost 16.00 to fill up. My truck stays gassed up in the driveway. Its my family's safty net. I can go 400 miles before first refuel. So I can escape the bad gas line and go around. Survivalists will always SURVIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I live in Houston. He is correct that is what gas lines looked like all over town. Still boggles my mind why no one would actually fill up everything before a hurricane. I didn't buy gas until a week after Ike had come and gone. I still didn't have to then either since I had my other car still full.

I own a Prius if we needed to we can get 60 mpg gotta drive too slow 4 me.I try to get 50mpg but average 48. Notice almost all in the line had PUs or SUV real luxurious when at the dealership POS in a disaster.

Be a minimalists learn from backpackers how to survive you will realize most of what we own we never need. EVALUATE need not greed what do you need. 21k is a lot for a car if you ask me but it is peace of mind knowing if we need to we can conserve fuel. Solar cars one day soon.

@wilatemodel That post was B4 trip to Phoenix 1500 miles one way. We did 80 mph in west Tx got 38mpg had a range of 450 miles we did that in 5.75 hours when night falls we dropped to 65mph 48 mpg range of 575 miles. We had 1,200 miles behind in under 20 hours average of 60mph but we stopped ate fed horses refueled a few times. Wife kid trucker driving all the luggage laptop AC Cruise control max legal speed.The prius will pay for another vehicle just in fuel savings how can free money be GAY.

@cdltpx I am a professional trucker we keep the door closed if I were driving alone I could have had even better numbers as a former out law trucker I have driven 24 hours nonstop when I had a truck that had the range to go from Denver to LACA. If your know what to do you can drink cokes and TCB while rolling down the road I have made that trip many times that way. Trucks take mountians differnt so the trip is not average speed like a car. Get to LA sleep 12 hours return to Denver legal.
