Im a little new to cycling. I love it tho! I had a question about a trainer I have bought called a Minoura Mag 500. Does anyone have experience with this unit? Also I havent received it yet and never thought until seeing this video about tire size. It looks like they are adjustable? I have a 26" Haro. I'm hoping it will work. Thanks for the no BS video. I have sorted through many before finding your straight forward one. Thanks!
I'm confused about how the rollers would work though,
Because I thought 'wind resistance' (one of the forces of the world in physics) is what kept you balanced on a bicycle. Must be a challenge to use a roller since it's kinda still.
@RandomAwe Eh... no. The reason you are able to balance is because your wheels are spinning, creating a gyroscope effect which causes them to be harder to change direction, which keeps you upright.
@OuterEdgeProductions the wheels on a bicycle are so light that the gyroscopic effect is minor to negligible unlike on a motorcycle where the gyroscopic effect really helps to hold you up. On a bicycle the constant minor adjustment of direction on the handlebars is what keeps you upright.
@RandomAwe Rollers have a belt that runs to the front wheel, making the front wheel turn as you pedal. You ride the bike on the roller. Rollers force you to learn good balance and to hold your line. If you don't learn how, the shame of repeated trips across the living room at 20+ mph into the wall, and taco'd front wheels will teach you well. I had a set of rollers, and as soon as I could afford a stand type trainer I got one. I came off the rollers one time, lesson learned.
@RandomAwe You are welcome! Good balance and the ability to hold your line are very important when riding in a group. Holding your line is such a courtesy to those following you. :-)
someone answer my question please :] I have a single speed bolt on ( not skewer ) bike wheel. Will any kind of bike trainers work with the bolt on bike wheel?
I agree with the last two posters. Why leave out wind? Because you won't get to jack up the price? Some people want cheap and don't care about how much noise or whatever.
Some of us are on a budget!
If you're going to go through the options, give them all, let people decide what they want. Don't dictate, dickhead!
mate - thank you very much. that was great and very informative

Might take up unicycling instead.

@geoPhaze THANKYOU! :D
That actually makes sense :) Now that you mention good balance, that might be useful when following other cyclists at group community cycles.
@diego11032000 Yeah man! Glad to hear someone actually understands :)

@TheMos2818 You are an adult. You can make up your own mind. You DON'T have to listen to him. Hey your mom called, time for breastfeeding.
