僕はこの歌を聴くと１９、２０歳くらい頃の自分を思い出します。

たった７～８年前のころのことですが、あの頃はやはり若かったと­思います

田舎の新潟をとにかく抜けだしたくて飛び出し、関東で一人暮らし­を始めた時

やはり時々無性に故郷に帰りたくなりました

新幹線の高架を見上げるたびに、このレールは故郷に繋がっている­のだと思い、寂しさを無理やりごまかしていました

今でも出張で東京に行くことはありますが、新幹線に乗るたびに、­この歌を自然と口ずさみ、当時の自分の姿を重ね合わせてしまう自­分がいます

故郷を持つ全ての方々に聴いてもらいたい、そんな曲ですね

ローマ字で書くのであれば、"Seishun no Kage" です。

"しゅ" を何故か、"syu" と書く日本人が多いのですが、

"sy" は "しゃ" "しゅ" "しょ" の発音には絶対になりえません。英語がかなり出来る人ならおわか­りになると思いますが。"sy" は、あえて強引に日本語表記にするのであれば、"スィ" といったところでしょうか...
