I have my audition tomorrow for the baker in "Into the woods" Just hoping I can do this song justice. I have seen many versions of this song over the last few weeks when i knew I had the audition. Thanks I hope that my version helps me to get the part. Paul x
@MattyVT11 Oh I hope lots of lesbians, gay men, straight men, straight women, bisexual men and women, transgender people, questioning people, curious people are listening. :) It's all good.
Because I'm singing this to someone. If I sang it today, which I'm hoping to do at my next show, I would sing it with even more fervor. "No more questions please..." Stop stop stop...I'm tired...let me be. I love Sondheim.
@kevindnyc You are a god. I thought so when I listened to you a year ago, and I still think so. You are sooo believable - the subtext is oozing through the way you deliver this song. Thank you (and I am a middle-aged woman).
@kevindnyc Great great great rendition. Watched it over and over again tonight, crying. Thanks for sharing. Really a brilliant take on an amazing song.
@colossus999 I think because when The Baker made the decision to leave his baby, it was a very hasty decision, and he wasn't really thinking everything through. And the performer here was trying to portray that he wasn't thinking it through, he was just trying to justify his choice.
As someone who was lucky enough to perform this musical in high school (Baker's wife) and who had a sudden urge to hear Chip Zien sing this song. I sumbled upon this version and I was more than pleasantly surprised. You have a wonderful voice! :) Such a full sound. I've already listened to it multiple times haha
You're a new artist to me - and I noticed you don't state your name in the text info area. I'd love to know more about you - you're truly wonderful. It's great to see a male artist of your caliber; a rare and lost art form these days... As far as your pianist goes, Christopher Marlowe continues to amaze me... over the years I've loved seeing his work evolve. Great work; both of you...

"Cant we just peruse our lives? With our husbands and our wives?"
It should be children not husbands. :P

@spyboy456 yeah it should be

@mrjacobspear Yes, but since I'm a gay man it was more inclusive for me to say "husbands and our wives" That was a definite choice not a mistake.

@kevindnyc oh ok I just know that in the music it says "children and our wives".

I like your voice, but why the tempo presto during the lines at the beginning? I've always thought of this song as a little more contemplative.
