  • This a beautiful song I could play it all day long. thank you so much.

  • God has blessed this man with a beautiful gift, he is using it well, I really enjoyed the video.

  • my pastor sung this song today & it just gave me cold chills through my body.. & hit me right in the heart.. very beuatiful song! (:

  • This song ministered to me when I was a newborn :)

  • The first time I ever heard this song it wasn't being sung by Ray Boltz. It was being sung by a small church piano player who was battling cancer. That was over a decade ago. I couldn't tell you how many times I've sought it out and listened to it since that time. One thing I can tell you, every time I listen it brings back so many times in my own life I've been on my knees crying out to my God with tears, and He is faithful. It's not the singer it's the song. Thank you Jesus. The Anchor Holds.

  • What a legendary track this was!

  • this song has always touched my heart, but in 2006 we played it at my Fathers services out in the Lake where we spread his ashes. It will always hold special meaning to me and my family... Also, I seen Ray in concert in my home town, Awesome, truly the most remarkable concert i have ever been too... Not a dry eye in the house!

  • This is the song that led me to the LORD.I really need him now. I don't know if I can go through these trails and tribulation without him.I LOVE and NEED you LORD.

  • God bless you Brother Ray Boltz

  • deb remember this song your out there yes it still holds...... jack

  • The song has reminded me of God's presence through every storm in life that I have face. I know I am not perfect as a Christian, in fact, we are as imperfect as they come. Thankfully, we have a God who forgives and heals.

  • He has a beautiful voice, God-given talent and has obeyed his call. When i was born again and was a baby christian..it was his music that i first listened to and his was the first christian concert went to. It ( HE) was so inspirational and THATS what I think of when i think of Ray. We ALL have our struggles and I wont judge him for his. Gods grace is just sufficient for him as anyone else.

  • i go threw life's storms daily & its songs like this one that gives me the strength to carry on,cause Christ is & has always been my anchor,my love for god & the great sacrifice he made sending his son to die so we could have life, that had to be painful,& god still loves us we owe him so much,& yet he ask for so little just to love him & live his commandments.

  • This song brings me back to a time in my life when I truly was hanging on or better yet... God was hanging onto me.... Thanks for sharing...

His love to me god dont have to prove anything

  • i love this song i know it by heart thanks for posting may God bless u,and family :).

  • Yes the Anchor, Jesus Christ is the only One that's steadfast and will never fail.

  • I Love all the Songs that he has performed and I can not think of ONE that has not inspired me in one way or the other. His personal life, is between Him and God.

I was not put here to JUDGE him in any way! The songs he has chosen to sing, could not have been as powerful by anyone else. THIS I BELIEVE.

Best wishes Ray, I hope you continue to sing your heart out.

  • This song is so beatiful I had it played at my brothers memorial July 23 my brother was a Captain with Pearl Harbor Pilots while piloting a ship from the harbor on July 13 2011 he instantly died from a massive heart attack this song was not a tradional for a memorial but my 56 year old brother was not a traditional person but I wonder how many nights he fell on his knees asking God to keep him safe and we know God never let go .

  • Wow, I love this song.

  • great song it rocks knowing that our saviour king of kings jesus is always with us helping us day to day showing us the light in the dark and he is our rock when we need him ... jesus will never let us down always keeping us safe in his loving arms ray boltz rocks still enjoy his stuff i have all his stuff keep rocking and going ray respect u always for being you ....... so glade to see people that are true to them self,s ...........

  • God Bless u Ray and Thank you my Jesus.

  • this song is one of my favorite songs. my anchor is holding me right now. i am going through a valley right now. only god can and will bring me out. he is the light at the end of this tunnel. no matter how lonely and depressing it get. i know my anchor is in the lord.....

  • this song is such a blessing god bless you ray boltz.

  • I heard this song a few years ago at a Gospel Fest, not knowing who wrote it or where it came from. Coincidentally heard a Praise Group singing Boltz's "Scar" this past Sunday. Happened to look it up this evening. What an awesome writer and singer. My God bless him in his travels through life.

  • Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, shed his sinnless precious blood on the cross for sinners, was buried in the tomb, and on the third day arose again according to the scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). God says this is the only way a guilty sinner can go free, and have eternal life, and have his sins paid for, is by trusting alone in the account God has given of his Son Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:16, John 3:16, John 14:6, John 3:18). Without trusting Christ alone you will go to hell. Rev 21:8

  • I love this song. I've been through so much in the last while...and this song reaches the depths of the soul. What a love for Jesus Christ to be able to say this in spite of all one goes through. What a love of Jesus Christ that He makes us able to hold on. His grace, love, and mercy keeps me this day and every day. There's nothing good about me except for the good of Jesus within me. Thanks for the song. God bless all who hear this message in song. Hold on people, not much farther 2 go.

  • This song has ministered to me in so many ways, and I will always support Ray Boltz.

  • This song really ministers to my heart, reminding me how Jesus holds to us on while we are going through the storm. I love Ray Boltz, have seen him in concert a few times. He always points to Jesus Christ and takes no glory for himself. Beautiful!!

  • an awesome video

  • This is such a beautiful song! According to many in our church body, this is my dad's song! He has such a beautiful tenor voice. He has sang this song on many occasions including several funerals and memorial services. I have watched him and mamma rely heavily on their "anchor" to hold through so many storms. Thank you for posting this. Anyone who would have ugly things to say about Mr. Boltz surely cannot understand the storm of his life or the Grace and Mercy of my God!

  • @mammabilbrey AMEN. Our GOD is greater than ALL of life's trials and heartaches. As long as we keep our anchor in the rock that is our LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST, we will be able to withstand all of life's trials

I would have loved to have had this song around when my Grandparents passed away.

  • I love this song. I have had many trials in my life including lost a baby and this song spoke to my heart. I remember this song from my childhood. I never understand it until now. God bless Mr. Boltz and his family. The Anchor holds in my life!

  • what an annointed song ministry God gave Mr. Boltz, & it proves that in our weakness our Lord is strong, & mighty in mercy and grace..Praise you Father for your love. For bringing good out of what the enemy tries to use for evil..amen . Make us one and faithful for your glory Lord. This week i had my 1st ever 2 seizures. I was told i have a tumor R side of brain, large mass on top of brain, &

L side has 1 aneurisem, 3 for 1 wham..but my God slumbers not..ty Lord for this song, for mercy.

  • I HAVE TO GIVE YOU THIS YOU KNOW WHO CAN REALLY MAKE EVEN THE YOUNGER GENERATION LISTEN! GOD BLESS & STAY GOD!

  • I am so thankful that through all I have done. THE ANCHOR HOLDS! Thank You Jesus!

  • I have bittersweet memories with this song. Our choir sang this @ our church this evening.

  • How well I understand the meaning of this song. I have had many rough times in my life. One of them going as low as Ithought possible. I was homeless, in a town where I knew noone. I was able by faith and hard work manage to fully get back on my feet, and God even blessed me with a loving man, of whom I married almost 4 years ago, and as a whole that I have been with for almost 7. And through so much I know God was with me

  • This song goes through my head and my heart daily. I lost my grandmother in July of last year. This was made harder by the fact she passed on what would of been my mothers ( her daughters) b day. And my mom passed in 1989. I traveled alone via greyhound for the funeral, and I know God was with me keeping me strong to get there.

  • This song has helped me in many tough times in my life. I have known Ray for years. His oldest daughter is my ago.

  • Great video and a phenomenal song! Praise God!

  • Ray is a messange from God! Listen and know the Way, the Truth & the Light. "Chanting the names of the Lord and you'll be free!" GH

  • This song is so true, Life can slip through your hands like grains of sand if you do not serve him ,faithfully . Thank God for the anchor...

  • one of my fave ray boltz

  • This is one of my favorite gospel songs. It has proven true in my life.

  • @meljaken Thank You that means alot to me.

  • Bro Ray, you've written one of the most amazing songs in the whole of history. Stay in Christ.

  • this song give me joy in my heat, to all jesus is god ,read 1 john chapter 4 verse16

  • This man, no matter what his life style, produced the most anointed songs we have ever had. i have sung all his songs in church, and the services were always filled with the Holy Ghost. Love You Ray.

  • I can truly testify that I have found it so. The Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.

  • I so love this song!! And, I have loved Ray Boltz, still love Ray Boltz and am thankful to God for his beautiful gift of music. God bless you, Ray! We love you.

  • I love this song, it has helped me through so many tough times. To many people get caught up on the little things instead of the entire picture.

  • I have had a life of disappointment and despair, I had to give up my 2 children after I cared for them for a year and half. I was only 18 when my husband who beat me and my children, I choose to surrender my children for adoption, so they would have a better life, a stable life. I hope and pray every day that my kids are ok. that was 23 years ago. I had two more children after that and did the best I could to raise them to be good people. This song just speaks to me in so many ways.

  • the most awsome song in the world !!

  • everytime i hear that song i get cold.i really love it

  • This song is sill as true as ever! I remember from when i was a little girl! It is an amazing song and he does a wonderful job!

  • First time I've ever heard this song and it made me cry as it meant so many different things for so many who have heard it. Thank you for posting it.

  • I thank God for every struggles I had, even before I knew him and what he did for me. looking back I truely believe he was there with me and to this day...Thank you Lord Jesus. you are my anchor that never let me go.

  • This song was written by my friend, Lawrence Chewning, upon the premature birth and death of his little boy. My husband and I were at the hospital with him and his wife that night. they had struggled to have children and even though they had 3 healthy kids, this was a terrible blow. When he says he has dreams, even held them in his hands, he is talking about that experience. Thank God for is Faithfulness and being an anchor in storms.

  • @northernwhitecaps Thank you for sharing that beautiful story. That verse about the dreams was my favorite that touched me the most. This song has brought encouragement and strength to many people including myself!!

  • @northernwhitecaps Really appreciate you sharing this. Very memorable and powerful song. Even more so knowing the story behind it.

  • @northernwhitecaps wow i did'nt know that that songwritte is your friend thanks for sharing that story!!!!

  • I have seen him in concert, doing this song. It was in 1999. He has an anointing, I will continue to pray for him and his Family. love you Ray.

  • @northernwhitecaps Thank you for sharing. My heart seemed to understand even before you said it. We lost our daughter when she was born prematurely in October 2010, and this song has provided healing and comfort in my grief. Now, I am 11 weeks pregnant again, and terrified, but I know that the Anchor will continue to hold, no matter what.

  • @northernwhitecaps how did you know Lawrence Chewning

  • @northernwhitecaps

Thank you for sharing the song and the story behind. I lost my daughter 5 weeks ago. Only a parent who has lost their child can really appreciate the grief.

  • @northernwhitecaps Lawrence Chewing is a great man he is a friend of my grandad's "JERRY HANNAH" a southern minister and singer I got to meet Mr. Chewning only once but I really think he did a great job with this

  • @northernwhitecaps Ray told the story of his amazing friend, Larry, in concert tonight. Ray explained that that year was very hard for him and his wife. God bless them, and Ray, too!

  • it really does hold

  • Yeah, this says it. Reminds me of the lyrics in "You're Not Shaken" (Phil Stacey).

  • The anchor is Jesus and he always holds. We have an anchor that keeps the storm steadfast and sure while the billows rolls....

  • The first time I ever heard this song I asked the LORD this ? I said LORD will you let me sing this song. I don sing theses songs the same way the artists do but GODS answer was YES so I went out and bought the soundtrack and went to my Local church and You would not believe the voice GOD used that day to sing this song. You see I can only sing a song if I ask the LORD first If I don't it may not be what the LORD wants or sees the people need. Try asking GOD see what happens when you ask. Hugs

  • I am long in under my dads username who sadly passed away November 9th 2010 from a sudden heart attack at the age of 46. He was so full of life and a wonderful father and papa. I listen to this song and I know my anchor is being held. As lonely as I feel I know Jesus IS WITH ME AND HE WILL NOT LEAVE. Everything is for a reason "as I face the raging sea's" R.I.P dad you are missed I will meet you in heaven someday :)

  • @snakedude63 Please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your dad.

Remember too that "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." – Revelation 21:4 (NIV)

  • @dmbarry777 amen brother!

  • @snakedude63 My Dad also passed suddenly a year ago. I love this song, it gives me such strength to go on after losing loved ones. RIP daddy, Howard Scott.

  • @snakedude63 I had children at a very young age and then gave them up so they could have a better life. this song helps me get through the loss. But God answered my prayer and gave me two more children and now I will be a GRANDMA ! I am so proud!!!! She is a GOOD GIRL ! GOD Bless every one !!!!!!

My Prayers are with you and your family..

  • @snakedude63 I also lost my father the same way. In my hands! your right Jesus will stay with us through any thing. My favorite part of this song is " It was in the night that I faced the storms of my life, oh thats where God proved his Love to me" Because when my life was at it's worse Jesus never left, he never blinked an eye. Thank God for his grace and mercy he has shown unto me. If there was ever anyone that Jesus should of turned his back on was me, but Thank God he never gave up!

  • @snakedude63 I lost my mother suddently in March and I know the anchor holds, thou the ship is battered!

  • In times like these

    you need an anchor

    in times like these

    you need a savior

be very sure, be very sure

    your anchor holds

    and grips the solid rock....

  • i love this so much..makes me feel like i can do anything as long i i have jesus

  • Thank you Jesus for blessing a sinner like me.

  • I cry ever time its so beautiful of a song

  • Fantastic. bless him for singing this song so beautifully and may these words come back to him and bless him again. Wonderful words.

  • THE ANCHOR STILL HOLD'S, and believe me my ship has been so tattered, I have journeyed into hell, and have seen the pain that awaits, but....satan is the great LIAR, the robber, the deciever of life, My life is in Jesus heart, my confession, my hearts desire is to serve Him, but......my flesh sometimes fails. MY ANCHOR HOLD'S!

  • thank you for posting. I have rescently lost my grandmother, and feel as if I am being pulled by many in two different direction. This was/is a wonderful reminder that God is always with me.

  • Ray Bolts is anointed in his singing as well as his song writtings. There is no way a man could reach the depths of understanding of the love of God and sufferings of man without first hand knowledge. I know....I am where He is....and to touch the hem of Jesus's garment & feel his forgiveness is an awsome thing. He loves me...he loves Ray...and he loves YOU....no matter what you have done..its not what you have done...it is what Jesus has done...

  • awsome song, i sing this in church.............

  • What a message in this song and in his voice. OneKewpie

  • Love this song sing it all the time ,one of my most requsted songs love you Ray Bolts!

  • This song is incredible.

  • This is a great video and a great song. No matter what I face I know the Anchor Holds.

  • Thank you so much for this video.

I and my family have been very bless due to your kindness.

  • Ray has done an amazing job with this song but every time i here Lawrence Chewning sings this song i get goose bumps. He wrote this song about the storms in his life and he sings it with such a great passion. this is by far my all time favorite song.

  • thank you Lord for the talent of Ray Boltz. God bless Ray!

  • Ray, Thank you for giving to the Lord!

  • I'm going thru a really hard time right now this song is giving me strength!!!

  • This is a wonderul song and video.

  • It seems one can feel the personal struggle this man is facing in his daily life, BUT, one can also feel the personal victory that comes from knowing that no matter what........THE ANCHOR HOLDS. To me personally, the message which comes from this song is just as strong as the message which comes from the 23rd Psalm. As David was saying "He restoreth my soul", seems he was referring to that ANCHOR which holds through our failures. To Ray Boltz, may GOD bless you. My prayers to you.

  • This song was sung at my fathers funeral, almost 10 years ago, and at that time, the words were very relevant. My dad hung onto his faith even as cancer weakened his once so strong body. It was not able to take anything from his faith, and everytime I hear it, I am touched. Thank you to men like Ray Blotz for their wonderful ministry through music.

  • Praise God for this song. Ray Boltz does such a beautiful job singing it. The words are so true for many of us. We face death and heartache, but we discover that the Anchor holds. Nothing can snatch us from His hand. To those going thru a rough time right now, hold on. Hold to His Hand.

  • goose pimples filled my entire body

  • I dedicate this song to a man who stood bye me through it all the lord himself and to my world my father and my future husband Andrew C Koch who is a singer himself and has videos on here. Thanks to them all for carrying me through the turmoils in my life.

  • no matter what you are going though is your song for the day

  • I haven't heard this song in years. It was one of my mom's favorite songs. My cousin sang it in the church that I use to go to. My mom, passed away on July 26, 1995, she had cancer. I remember, the last time, my cousin sang this song she stood up & clapped her hands for him. She was so proud of him. My cousin also sang this at her funeral. She asked for him to sing it for her funeral, before she died. It is such a wonderful & encouraging song.

  • JUST LOVE RAY BOLTZ'S MUSIC HE LOVES THE LORD THRU HIS MUSIC..AND BLESSES MANY IN THE PROCESS.......THANK YOU DEAR MAN OF GOD FOR GIVING TO THE LORD

  • i love his songs yes the anchor holds inspite of the storms

  • This song reminds me, that no matter what, i must stay on that old ship of Zion.

    Thank you.

  • I just lost my mom. She was only 41, and it was a very big shock to all of us. We had this song sung at her funeral, because she loved it so much and It gives me comfort to know that no matter how many struggles my mom went threw in her very short life that the anchor holds and that God was always beside her. And now she is in heaven with him and suffers no more with the trials of her earthly life. RIP MOM!!!

  • you have a great voice....

  • my dad went to his concert in 05'. He sounds just like my daddy singing.

  • this song moves me

  • : " ( that was my dads favorite song he died right after i had turnd 5 i miss hi so much i barley remember him this song brings bk so many memorys but hes in a safer place.

  • THANK YOU JESUS. YOU ARE THE ANCHOR THAT HOLDS INSPITE OF THE STORMS. Thanx for posting this amazing song.

  • This is my favorite song by Ray Boltz. I still love him and pray for him daily. God is the only one who can judge.

    Jackie Clark 5/12/10

  • My night wasnt at night. My night came in the middle of the day, twice when God proved to me he was there. He kept me from taking my life in 1995 and then just last year he was there with me when i found my boyfriend dead, he had taken his own life. I just wish he talked to me first.

  • We had this song sung at our little baby boy's funeral. I listen to it when I start missing him more than usual.

  • @mommy2008aidan : There is absolutely nothing worse in this life than to lose your child, and I won't even pretend to know what you're going through. I do know that God's Grace is sufficient, and when we cannot go another step, He will carry us. Hold fast to him, and He will Hold you in His arms until the day He Holds you and your son in His Everylasting Arms.

  • I love this song and I love Ray Boltz!

  • this is one of those songs that helps me to keep on pressing to the mark of the higher calling

  • this song is my experience

  • I have journeyed thru the long dark night....

  • Thank you God for such a song.......It is so real in our lives. I praise God that even today more people will come to know you better through this beautiful song. It is so true. I praise God too for YouTube. So many post so much un-needed trash on here and I thank him for Ray Boltz. What a God, what a song.

  • I really needed this song right now. Thank You Lord.

  • This is indeed timeless. It has the potential to make it in the Hymnals. This is my anthem for my life's walk with my Heavenly Father!

  • This is such an inspirational song! This was played at my Uncles Funeral followed by the uology by my father! everytime i hear it it brings tears to my eyes!!! RIP Uncle Paul I love You So Much!!

  • AMEN

  • "For me, personally, this is such a cherished,& powerful song!" It still brings me to my knees, in tears of Thanks & Gratefulness!"

  • Such a great song.

  • my all time favorite!

  • i love this song and i love ray. the anchor does hold. im alive today because of god and ray, god the anchor and ray for singing.

  • THE ANCHOR HOLDS!!!

  • @kenshinvin THE (HE) certainly does!

  • john10:27My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[a]; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30I and the Father are one."

...zechariah 9:12&Hebrews 6:19 19We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,

  • Just happened to catch Donnie Sumner

singing this on one of the Gaither specials.

I remembered Ray's video and version of

this song;needless to say Ray's version is

    the best!

15 years after its release,it's as fresh now as

    it was then!

  • when i was 15 i came out. i tried to make it work on my own, i didnt need god i could do it myself, well no one could accept me, my family turned there back on me and i lost everyone i thought were my friends. i was 21when i decided to take my life. i asked god for the first time if he was there, if he was to send me a sign if he didnt want me to do this. at that time something told me to turn on my radio and listen. this song was on and saved my life cause i knew then i had more to live for.

  • @rick62173 I hope your family will see

you are a beautiful person and return to

you. Gay is a part of a person, not the whole person. God does not condem, man condems, God is love and he wants us to love one another and ourselves. I trust you have found that out, I wish you the best for your courage.

  • @rick62173 - I love your testimony!!!! Indeed Gos has a Plan for your Life..>>> He Saved you!!!

  • @rick62173 I was 20 when I realized what I was inside the darkness, and came to grips with it, and then at a time when I was ready to end it all, I called out to God and asked him to show himself to me as so many had said He had done for them, and I will testify, that He came and ripped out of me the old man, and made me a new creation. Many times through the 30 years since I have had to trust that the anchor holds when the temptest storms come. even when it seemed if didn't, God proved it had

  • @rick62173 Reading this ,tears came to my eyes. That's the God we serve. When we need him he is there, and wehen we dont want him, he is still there. God bless you. Jesus' blood prevails. Hallelujah.

  • @rick62173 Glad you decided to live! I'm not gay and I'm not religious, I believe we go on and there is a higher power, and I believe that we are ALL created equal and deserve love and respect. Why hate your neighbor? Love and accept what you don't understand, ignorance is evil, I'm glad you are here!

  • if one can't find a way out of their situation...Jesus is just a prayer away.. if one may be suicidal because of their situation..........the day of your breakthrough will come and things will get better ......but if one commit suicide then they won't be able to have ,hold and experience all the blessings of the Lord because they are not there to receive them.........so don't give up, hold on......Jesus wants to give you His blessings........Bless God always.....may God bless.

  • Bless The Lord, His steadfast love never changes. He alone holds us

with HIS Mighty Hands and nothing can take us from His Loving care. He alone is our salvation. Jesus yes Jesus chose to hang on a cross for all of man kind. And He holds on to you, personally.

And If You don't know Jesus, then let all who are crushed, confused, heart broken, sick or just weary and in need of Him as savior simply come to this Wonderful Jesus, and find rest for your soul. He is faithful.

  • Even though im not a religious person this song means alot

  • PRAY FOR HAITI!! THE ANCHOR HOLDS!!

  • The Anchor Holds and God has His Hands waiting for you to surrender to Him. God is a forgiving and mericful God. Without His Mercies where would we be? Listen to the song Mercy Rewrote My Life and Mercy walked In. Praise God the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. God Bless, Ida

  • This song is very inspiring & encouraging. Ray Boltz has many more inspiring songs. I have been listening to his music for at least 10 years & saw him in concert. I am not a great singer, but, decided to sing this song in church & since then, I sing it very often. Singing this song has helped me through some very traumatic times in my life & it will help you too. Please learn the words & sing your heart out!!!

  • @pamcramerozse we're all great singers to the "ears" of God, at least that's what i tell myself when i'm flexin the golden pipes lol

  • The anchor is always there for any of us if we just reach out for it. I know it has been there for me thru some difficult times and if it wasn't for that anchor I don't think I would have made it thru my own storms. Thank you Jesus for offering us that anchor when we need it the most.

  • I am a living testimony that the anchor does hold. No matter the storm or the raging sea, Jesus, my Anchor holds me close to him. Thank you Jesus.

  • Im getting some of these lyrics on a tattoo for my birthday. im turning 17 :)

  • Now as 2009 slowly comes to an end. Merry Christmas to everyone! But first We celebrate Christmas due to our lord Jesus's Birthday and second! The Achor does hold. God has a plan for everything praise the lord!
