it's like he has no imagination at all. i learned that using electric drums or triggering the snare or toms actually makes you worse because you loose all your dynamics and you are unable to use ghost notes to make things like snare chops come alive. i know people will disagree with me but they need to learn that status, fame and longevity have no relationship to skill at all. its basic drumming played fast

If they use them for valid reasons--like needing clarity on the kick drums at a certain rate of BPMs and beyond (Derek Roddy and George Kollias come to mind)--I can hang with that just fine. It's drummers that rely too much on them for their sound at all I have issues with. Why not just program a machine at that point? Not my thing at all.

Occasionally, if you look at like say a Hendrix video, or Led Zep or whatever you don't see all of this stuff about this one can play faster than that one, etc. Much more respect between guitarist fans. Even if a bunch of teens put a cover song on here for fun, all these people rip the drummer up !

@TorgeistLLN I think it's somewhat of a practice-type kit or something judging from how small or "shallow" both the kick drum and toms are. Also notice how the cymbals are very "tight" and not allowed to resonate or swing around when he hits them. It is meant to be quiet from what I can tell. This is definitely not Pete's live kit. You are right about Pete being a legend though. \m/
@snemandenable I think that Tim is a little bit overrated. He's fast and all the stuff, but in live he actually suck! he play slower than studio, and even doing that he miss several tempos in the songs. He's just a "studio drummer". He screw all in vital remains and in divine heresy too.
and Kollias? Different styles. Kollias prefeer speed after power... and Pete? Pete is speed and power in one person.
Trey is Morbid Angel - it's HIS deal. He is the only one in the band that is irreplaceable. Kinda like Steve Harris with Iron Maiden... that's not a knock against anyone in the band, just the realistic truth.

Those drums sound terrible. Pete is a legend. But that kit has no penetrating powerful sound at all.

@TorgeistLLN I think it's somewhat of a practice-type kit or something judging from how small or "shallow" both the kick drum and toms are. Also notice how the cymbals are very "tight" and not allowed to resonate or swing around when he hits them. It is meant to be quiet from what I can tell. This is definitely not Pete's live kit. You are right about Pete being a legend though. \m/

@snemandenable I think that Tim is a little bit overrated. He's fast and all the stuff, but in live he actually suck! he play slower than studio, and even doing that he miss several tempos in the songs. He's just a "studio drummer". He screw all in vital remains and in divine heresy too.
and Kollias? Different styles. Kollias prefeer speed after power... and Pete? Pete is speed and power in one person.

Trey is Morbid Angel - it's HIS deal. He is the only one in the band that is irreplaceable. Kinda like Steve Harris with Iron Maiden... that's not a knock against anyone in the band, just the realistic truth.

I'm just saying, there are rarely and good 'core' bands. Most of them just play fast and there is no musical talent involved, just power chords and sloppy drumming. Asbloodrunsblack is amazing though,

@chompskyhomp Triggers are not cheating. You are just retarded. You can play at the same speeds without triggers, but not with enough force. So you use triggers, most extreme death metal drumming wouldn't be possible without triggers.

i don't have a problem playing fast with enough force without triggers. it's called being a real drummer. it's called practicing.
people should try it instead of being lazy because technology allows it. you might as well be programming a drum machine, because it sounds the same and takes the same amount of effort.
