Does anyone know if their machines at this time had the ability to do INTERNAL bouncing of tracks (ie. mixdown to same tape without needing a new reel)?
vocals are vari speed. they did them at a slower speed. same technique as queen, except queen had 16 tracks, and they all sang each part in unison which is why they are so large sounding...
The 3M 23 - the taperecorder used recording the song had no varispeed-function at the time they recorded this song. It means that what you hear is what they recorded. No tricks with voices except for delay and reverb.
However- The four track Studer they used until september 68 had varispeed but it wasn´t used in version of the song. They used very little varispeed during The White Album session.
@babystinky Nope, they have pretty good relative pitch... myself included. I've worked with people who have perfect pitch... they can tell you exactly what note the train whistle is, or a car/boat horn is... it's nuts.
It could be that George and John were relative, but Paul?
George Martin said this about himself and Paul:
"I can’t remember not playing. I can’t really explain it, but I was born with an understanding of music and perfect pitch.
“Paul McCartney can’t read or write music but he’s probably the best musician I know, because he has this innate sense of what music is about and the way that it’s structured. I had that, too. I suppose that was why Paul and I related so well.”
Just fab.
Is this isolated from a mogg of the Rockband mixes I wonder, I do.
