  • Can't help but feel that the more limited capabilities of computers in the late 80's and early 90's led to much more interesting and creative games than today. You could play these old games for hours but I've gotten so bored trying to play anything contemporary I've given up.

  • Nice video! I have a little suggestion though. The older monitors had non-square pixels, meaning on a modern LCD the image looks stretched (like widescreen). You can fix this if you resize the image to 640 x 480 before you upload it! 4:3 is the correct aspect ration.

  • Sega CD version ftw.

  • Seems like a great game!

  • This game should, no, *must* see a remake with current graphics and sound - it was awesome!!!

  • 30:33 Wow, those two really have something going on. I bet they'll be doing that at the end of the game even though it is not even shown, but it is probably presumed.

  • I think I was in 5th grade when my Dad brought this home for our Mac. F*'in' blew my mind, never saw anything like it. Still one of the best RPG's I ever played.

  • wow this takes me back...

  • Never played this game...but looks epic!

  • I finished this game, but remember that it was pain in the ass because you had to wait for certain events to play out. This forced you to come back to locations and people repeatedly for more information and items that were not available until some time had passed. This was before before the internet and you couldn't just do a google search for a walkthru.

  • nice soundtrack

  • Good effort playing those games, back then no saves allowed for most parts. Time reducing nowadays to make save games via emulators. I miss having no save games, it made the games that much more epic to complete. Plus it was a brag factor :)

  • I have the sega cd version which did a great job with the cd audio and voiceovers

  • 30:25, Thats his second head thinking that. ;)

  • i used to love this game. i never beat it though!!!

  • I noticed during the date sequence at 0:30:00 there's a little more "adult content" than there is in the Sega CD version.

  • what the hell is this

  • lol !! thunbs up for epic music at start! XD

  • 0:03:17 Shower while on the toilet. Ah, 90's gaming, nothing like it. I remember passing this game, then starting all over again. Quite addictive.

  • Great game for any "Blade Runner" fan.

However, I always found the last quarter, with the monster and the action sequence out of place.

  • BEST GAME EVAR

  • Niiice ... Bladrunnerish and also reminds me of "Deja Vu" but the disk swapping was a bit of a pain back then.

  • I bought my very first HD (20mb) for this game! I remeber saving up my pocket money for nearly a year. And it paid off! I love this game.

  • I hated this on Amiga... how can one make a game on 10discs... So we played it on a PC with a HD (which I didnt have for the amiga.) Cool that its up here

  • Its amazing how these games fit onto a few floppy's really.

  • It's so depressing to hear what this game's sound is supposed to sound like. My comp back then was rubbish so I was stuck with ear splitting MIDI sounds.

I never did complete this game. It was too scare for me as a lad.

  • ohh my god havnt seen this in so long...i hated the fact that it was 12 disks big so i had to go out and buy two extra disk drives to save disk swaping so much lol.

  • Wow the background cells and people artwork in this game are so much more detailed than in The Adventures of Willy Beamish which happens too be one of my favorite games of all time. I love these types of games, i'm gonna have to see if I can find this game for my Amiga(s). I own an Amiga 1200 which I towered, and upgraded, and an Amiga 3000. :D

  • I got a little way into the Mega cd version about a year ago and i must confess to likeing the tinted screen green atmosphere more than the Amiga screens- seems more suited but maybe it's just down to my playing it here first-.I would like to finish either one of these versions at some point

  • One of many games I never finished. Good to finaly see the ending, now I can die in peace :)

  • I love that Blade Runner Style...

We need a remake in High Definition with a great Soundtrack...

We need more movies and Games like this...

  • The Cyberpunk genre is almost forgotten wich sucks.

For some reason everyone loves steampunk

  • They so need to remake this.

  • Although Amiga version is superior, I think the color palette used in Sega version makes it look better and more cyberpunk :)

  • "Consider this fair warning, Mr. Mayor!"

    :D

  • Speaking of which, any games like this on the market now (for Mac or PC)? Something that recalls Rise of the Dragon, Blade Runner, Neuromancer, etc. An adventure-type game. I'm all about atmosphere and this game had it in spades.

  • Let me know too if you run to some..

  • Had this for the Amiga 500 back around 91 or 92.

Anything based on Blade Runner and/or Neuromancer (novel) has to be good. This was no exception.

  • 'Rise of the Dragon' is one of the main reasons why I became interested in adventure games and elaborate comics ^-^

  • Thank you for this, Cubex55

  • Just finished the sega-cd version last night - had to consult your playthru on the videophone tapping bit, finally did it, cheers great stuff! :)

  • one of the few games I managed to complete. in every old classic adventuregame there was at least one puzzlue too hard to figure out without help, and without the internet it was really hard to get help back in the 90s. So you remained stuck.

  • God...I wish there were more click and point style Cyberpunk games like this and Snatcher..

  • Yeah, this game was so cool... I never completed it but the atmosphere was fantastic.

  • try to find bladerunner from Westwood Studios, came out in 97 for pc - while everyone was playing gta iv last december i was stuck in 2018 Los Angeles pointing and clicking my detective around uncovering replicant mysteries. dope game.

  • Sounds awesome! I shall check it out.

  • Talkabout old .....

  • LOL man i use to play this game when i was 6.

  • You remember this? everything before boobs was a blur for me..

  • Don't know much about it, but the Amiga is basically a series of personal computers made by Amiga Corp., who were later bought out by Commodore International. It was a fairly successful brand in the mid 80s to early 90s, particularly in Europe.

  • Oh ok. Thanks for the info! ;)

  • It says in the title: AMIGA ;)

  • Also, it ran from floppy disks, so it didn't have the luxury of CD tracks and lots of space for voices.

  • It's the same Game except on the Sega CD they cenzored this Game a little bit but those parts were not directly Story involved. For example on the Sega CD they cut some nudity parts at the Bar and a Scene involved with a French Kiss. Also this Version has slightly better Graphics. The Downpart to this Version it has no Voice Actors which is the reason why Probably the Sega CD Version is inferior to this one and in the Same time the best Conversion.

  • Also on teh sega cd version you HAD to do the arcade bit near the end, if you fail it here so many times you can bypass it.

  • @marcellus313 Kind of a silly question dude when it states it in the title and the sheer fact that there was more than one version of the game out there during that time ;)

  • @marcellus313 dumbass.

  • @betterbeavailable Everyone's so tough via youtube comments but wouoldn't dare say such a thing to my face...

  • @marcellus313 Yeah people shouldn't be giving you such a hard time over your initial comment, you had an honest question and it's an honest mistake ;) The Amiga was a technically advanced 16 bit computer that was released in 1985 which was comparable to the MegaDrive or SNES but with it's own little tricks for producing quality titles just as the Sega and Nintendo had with their machines ;)

  • Your girlfriend gets kidnapped and you went to sleep for two days lol! Is everything dependent on time in this game?

  • I had a lot of fun with this game as a kid.. actually had it for PC but the atmosphere and adventure elements made it fun to play..

  • It's right in the title, bud: Amiga.

  • i played this many many times on my brothers sega cd. couldnt you leave your apartment without getting dressed and you would get arrested?

  • Showering with the clothes on?

  • Loved this game, first when i bought i didnt have a HDD, looots of discswapping then :)

  • I like that in the PC version if you died in the arcade bit, you could actually choose to bypass it. Great game, reminded me a little of Snatcher on the Sega CD.

  • one of my favourite adventure games, really dated now, but for its time it was great, with really dark atmosphere

  • thought it was catherine tate then on the screen straight away lol

  • ah, remember this game, it was great,

    kgb-alike :)

wish it was more games like this

  • great game. way too hard im parts though :)

  • This is cool to see.

I had this game on Sega CD and loved it.

  • was good game but not good as BASS

  • Is it just me or did that Fisto candy look just like Snickers?

  • Abandonia has the PC version available for download. Use Dosbox to run it in Windows and away you go.

  • i love that whenever it asked if you wanted to save you unhesitatingly said no

  • friend of mine had this game on sega cd, i like it now that it reminds me of Shadowrun ^_^

  • YES!!! after all these years I'm finally gonna figure out how to hook up those damn wires...too bad I don't have the game anymore lol..this and sewer shark and jurassic park rocked my world on sega cd...thank you for putting this up..may the 90s live forever!!! amen

  • I know... I always got stuck at the exact same part.

  • HAHA when i saw chen lu melt when i was 9 i freaked out! This game is very well executed.

  • Should I buy the Amiga version or the PC version?

  • sega cd version. there actually have voices...

  • The voices enhance the experience so much, you won't mind that everything has a green tint (which didn't take anything away, either)

  • i played this game with a pc and listened to the soundtrack in midi-format while ago... But wtf seems that amiga version had .mod-soundtrack which sounds fucking awesome.

  • With all the time constraints, both in terms of the whole storyline, and in given situations, I found myself having to react quicker in this game than any other game of any genre at the time. Heck, maybe any time. However, while this along with more usual adventure game fare makes the game rather unforgiving, "Rise of the Dragon" is definitely the most thrilling video game in my recollection.

  • I played this game on PC actually back in the early 90s, LOVED it! great fun game for it's time

  • This game is clearly visually influenced by the film Bladerunner with Harrison Ford. The futuristic industrial city is similar as is the cramped apartment. The main character also dressed the same, with a coat. Also,is it a coincidence the main character in this game is called Blade? (as in Bladerunner).

  • oh, the memories...

  • I had this for computer, it was such a great game!

  • I never got to beat this game as a kid! Now I want to! I found a rom for it for Sega CD, but I can't find a Sega CD emulator! Someone help me, this game is too good!

  • Gens supports Sega CD, but you also need the BIOs

  • Hey Thanks! i love this game and i could never saved Karyn but your vid showed me the path thanks 5 stars!

  • Do amusing things happen if your character fails to put on his work clothes before leaving?

  • where is the game over

  • On the Sega CD version of this game, you could use a bomb on the final boss. He'd nail you with his tail a few times, but once the bomb is applied, it's over.

  • Rise of the dragon,Heart of china, and Willy beamish(also by Dynamix)it was my favorites!

  • Used to play this one and "Heart of China" (also by Dynamix) on the Amiga. Good times. :)

  • Comment from Ironclaw:

Heart of China will be recorded sometime soon :).

  • already did a heart of china speedrun

  • OMFG! The memories. I even found Deathtrack!

  • I own and played this on SegaCD... and to be honest, I have no idea how, but I beat it! though like you said... It's easy to "mess up" on a number of parts and skip a bunch of stuff or alter some events- which made it an interesting game to me.

  • I used to try and play this game on the Mac, but owing to the fact that I was a young gamer and Marathon was a few clicks away, I couldn't finish it.

  • Hmm... korean translation for this title was "Private Eye 'Hunt'" I remember always end up caught by cops right after get out of house. minor crime...maybe.

Good to know how to deal with when locked up myself.

... 75 minutes. It's an excellent work, Ironclaw.

  • "75 minutes. It's an excellent work..." meaning? if you mean the game was finished in a quite short time, then I must tell you this is a longplay and I leave each dialogue on the screen for several seconds so the viewers get enough time to read them, and I don't skip any sequences. Otherwise if I wanted to, I could finish this game in like 20 mins :).

  • Oops, I just wanted to say it's cool play video :)

It was worth spending my 75 minutes to watch

the whole long play (maybe walkthru ;)thing.

  • I luv'd this on Sega CD!
