  • Wonderful band I grew up with in Miami 1974 through 1980. They played all of the hot spots of the time and were great to dance to. Such talented musicians, each and every one. They were a lot of fun to be around. Both albums are good and bring back great memories. Sorry for the lack of good promotion and the sound quality was not rich and robust as they are live. LanieB

  • Artie Kornfeld and I had a blast making this record,We had major radio adds and promotion but no records due to an oil shortage. No product no success in Record

biz end,But on a creative end it was very successful and satisfying and most of all

fun to make,Damm at at 23yo My primary interest was is this going to be fun to make

not the cash,That comes anyway, can you hang with these people for months and

    the answer was yes,Anytime!!!!!!!

  • My favorite band of all time.My fav was through the eye of the storm and high school star

  • Awesome, I took guitar lessons from Jim LeFevre in the late 60's at a Music Store on US1 and 152 Street. The first Max album came out when I was in Gainesville at UF. I remember the great reviews that were written in Rolling Stone about the first album. Always thought this deserved much more success. Over 40 years later I still play guitar mostly in corporate cover bands and owe this wonderful part of my life to Jim. Rock on Max.

  • This album is a hidden jewel.. It´s fucking Awesome!!

  • I can't believe it !! Other people who not only know but love Max . WOW . It is so cool. I use to listen to that album hundreds of times through my high school year and yes I loved the song High School Star. But my favorite was Through the Eye of The Storm. Does anyone know if the album is still available and where I can buy it?

  • this one's from their "take it to the max" album. back in 1980, a guest left the album behind in a room at my father's hotel. it was lying around in the office for about a month and no one came back to claim it. it didn't look like much to me with its cheesy eyeball cover, but i decided to give it a listen. what can i say, the music was awesome and it grew on me. at that time my family life changed and i moved on. lost the album. thought i'd never hear this again, till now.

  • One of the best songs I've ever heard. Paul Rose is a very talented individual. I used to know him in the early 80's when he used to work at A Photographer's Place on Prince Street in New York City.

  • I just posted "High school star", hope it's ok. My daughters and their friends played this alot. I used to play only demo albums at home while they were growing up. This was one of their favorites.

  • I just looked for it and could not find it.

  • Kudos to Fkngrvnmj, not just for his easily-pronounced username, but for posting this great tune by a criminally-forgotten band (and Steve Gibbons' DOWN IN THE BUNKER besides!)

I owned both Max albums, and while the first one's best, both are long overdue for a CD release. (Can't somebody out there make it happen, for Chrissakes?) Until then, any chance of posting LIZARD SONG - or THE BEST OF ME from the followup lp?

  • could somebody please post the informative lyrics?

  • there will be a beggars opera version of this song, if the singer ever gets well.

  • Sounds like someone I know. Hope the singer gets well!

  • I have this lp. side B is tottaly great. Have thy done more albums? Peace

  • Check out "Call of the Wild" 2nd album.

  • Nice job on creating a video w/this Max song. One of my favorites!

  • i use to listen to you guys at the Esquire club in Miami in the late 70s

  • Thanks so much for posting this. 30 years later I'm still looking for my paradise.

  • Great Song...If Peterjay is Pete ,

drummer from the first album, you did a great job there.

It was an honor for me to be the second drummer for the band and do The Call of the Wild (second album).

We did some reunions the past few years.

  • 30 years later "Paradise" still sounds good. If RCA had done a better job promoting us it would have been a big hit.

  • That's the truth. We still remember you from the Esquire club.

  • Pete, is that you? If so, what are you doing these days? How can I get in touch w/Terry. And yes I agree, not only the promo but sound quality on the albums.

  • Who is MsKrink?

  • I was Jim's girlfriend, marguerite.

  • Wow I can't remember the last time I saw you. How are you? I'm living in Sanford,Fl. Terry and I got divorced back in '78 and I haven't talked to her since, though I am in contact with our son Damon who is now 35. She is still living in Ann Arbor. I can get her email if you want.

  • Yes, pls send me an email address, privately pls. Thanks!

  • Pete, never heard back from you. Are you still chkg this site? Hope all's well.

  • @MsKrink I told Damon you were trying to get in touch with her and he said he would pass it on.

  • Ok, thanks! BTW did you see that there's another band using the name, Max Demian Band? not rocknroll. Just talked to Jim this am, he's well.

  • @MsKrink I hope they have better luck than we did.

  • Jim lefevre, one of the band's members, is my guitar/bass/music theory teacher :)

  • FlipFlopRocker

I'm interested in taking lessons from him, can you tell me some stuff about him?

  • alaskanpipework, I've been taking lessons from him for 3 years. He is very easy going but he will push you to your limits to reach your full potential.

He is very very knowledgeable and has participated in many musical activities (this band being one of them)

he is a dynamic teacher and knows how to teach everything from pop to classical guitar, just let him know your interests. He's a bass player at heart and has morphed me into a guitar/bass playing hybrid also!

    I recommend him!

  • I have this lp,and and the B-side is fantastic!so cool!Fu manchu has stolen the bass solo from one of the songs, can`t remember witch..I need to know more about this band!!Please..!! peace

  • Man, I had this taped off the radio from back in the late 70s. That's the only reason I can even remember it. GREAT POST!!!

  • great post, nice pics to go along with the song. Thx

  • Oh wow, fantastic! Haven't heard this song in over 30 years. Thanks so much!

  • So how did you find the bands name? Good Job!!!
