"What are you going to do when you're insanely successful and part of the system"? Really??? I'd LOVE to see how he would answer that (unanswerable) question... Ask the Beatles that in 1961 or The Stones in 1962 or Buddy Holly in 1957 or Glenn Miller in 1937 Or the Clash in 1975 or....Douche...
FYI: ' He who is first will later be last...the times they are a changin'. - Bob dylan, but stolen from The Bible.... Matthew 20:16 - So the last shall be first, and the first last
Bill Graham got it wrong...Joan was successful (on her own terms), scored 9 Top 40 hits, and though she didn't exactly become a household name like Madonna, she's revered by Runaways fans and Riot Grrls (as well as being the producer of the Germs G.I. LP), has always kept a level head, never regeared her music towards the mainstream and never sold out (and were he still with us, it would be interesting if someone showed Graham that clip and asked what his thoughts were on Joan post-success)
That Bill Graham is some big music manager/promoter type of guy I believe, Joan Jett was part of a all-woman 'punk' band (sounds more like hardrock to me) The Runaways. Tom Snyder is the host. TimF owley as the manager of the Runaways, and made some experimental music on its own in the 60s...
snyder's a fuck.
