The church will not and can not be forced to preform any marriages that they deem unfit, including inter-faith couples (i.e. one is Eastern Orthodox, Jewish, Pagan, ect.) The existence of a "gay gene" isn't a hot topic in science today, simply because an environmental mechanism is far more plausible than a genetic one. (Seriously -- homosexuality being hereditary? Think about it.)
During pregnancy, chemicals (such as sex hormones) can and do pass between mother and child, as well as environment and mother. Those chemicals, not some "gay gene," are the real focus of current scientific discussion.

Your wrong about that. The California supreme court stated that the right to marry has always existed yet and the suppression of that right is unconstitutional. The Majority is not always right. If that were true then we would still have slaves and they would only be able to marry other slaves that we owned. Back in those days slaves were married "until death or distance do they part" Meaning that if I sold a husband and kept the wife I would have dissolved there marriage. Does that seem right?

Hold on, it is a religious ceremony. You go to city hall fill out a marraige license from the city then you get married through the church if you are religious. If you do not go through the church then you have a civil contract you are correct, however you still need a priest or whatever for the marraige, and i truly believe that people who do get married see it more religious rather than a contract. I'm critical of heterosexual marriage in the sense that there are too many divorces, too many out of wedlock births, and too many abortions because of unneccessary sex. As a correction, it wasn't California School Teachers who came out for No on 8- it was their union's top tier executives.
They gave 1.25MM dollars at the same time the gov't is laying off hundreds of teachers due to lack of funds- that's "shameful".
The State Superindent's own website says that 96% of schools will have to teach about marriage - don't be fooled by basically every politician in our state- go with the people.

Correction - a majority of Californian teachers are opposed to Prop. 8. Including the school principal who is calling for "protectmarriage" to stop using unauthorized images of HIS OWN CHILD in their ad.
Yes, *responsibilities* of marriage are part of the recommended curriculum, not the *definition* of marriage. Age appropriateness is also specified, it won't be taught to grade school regardless of what "protectmarriages" lies say.

Why should a parent even be subjected to a "challenge" to attend a "live debate" on whether the use of his child's image without permission was appropriate? Your language is exactly what is wrong with Pro-Prop8. It is about "in your face" "challenges" and "debates" to discriminate against other Californians.
And again - State law is not religious rules. You get all your "religions" to even agree with each other then "debate" with the rest of us why we should all have to follow your *beliefs*

I know it sounds crazy for the State with such cities as Los ANGELES, SANTA Barbara, SANTA Ana, SAN Diego SAN et. al., because California has no "religious rules".
We don't think you should follow our beliefs, but we also don't think that your disagreeing with us allows you the freedom to deny us our right to religous freedom, and if you don't think that is at risk, you obviously haven't read the article from NPR I gave you on the last post.

Sorry for not being clear- I meant the voters (not the bloggers on this page).
I think when you hold up people like Gavin Newsom as your standard bearer for gay marriage (the man who cheated on his wife with his best friends' wife and didn't resign once he was outed) it makes a lot of Californian's (not just church goers) start asking what you think marriage is- and why we don't want him re-defining it.
Taking sexuality out of the equation, what are you really after?

The first amendment does not separate church from state, it protects religon (like speech and the press) from the state.
As the article I referenced above makes clear letting the 4 judges who told the citizens of this state they were ignorant amounts to allowing the gov't the "right" to tell religions what to preach.

The problem is that my church guides my beliefs and I am a voter, so although the gov't system may not "need" my beliefs, they are going to get them anyway.
Considering which side of this you are on, you may want to limit our references to the document that guarantees both our rights to religious freedom and the freedom of speech.

The California Department of Educations own website says that 96 % of public schools provide instruction under the Comprehensive Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention Act ( school that provides instruction under that Act must provide instruction and materials that teach about MARRIAGE. instruction about marriage is required for the school that is what you said. Does marriage = Sex Does marriage = love only you can teach that to a child by your own life nobody else.

What Teacher in his or her right mind is going to teach your kid about sex? By the time the kid goes to sex ed class she or he has an inkling of what sex is from friends and tv and the internet. If two grown adults effect your marriage then there's something wrong in your marriage. Does marriage effect taxes, insurance, buying a home, buying a car, jobs? YES IT DOES so shouldn't a gay couple have the same rights that a marriage entitles as defined by law?

I think that shouldn't be taught in schools i disapprove gay marriage and they shouldn't make it legal, that is giving kids the idea "it's alright for kids to experiment with their sexuality" 2 men or 2 women can't make children for a reason if they start teaching gay relations in sex ed. they should tell them the risks and if they start teaching that why cant they teach the bible facts alot of what is the books about evolution are lies or are estimated guesses, dont have facts
