  • Cut that cat turd off your chin. Fruitcake. You paid more for the pickups then the guitar. :D

  • I RECENTLY HAD AN UPGRADE DONE TO MY EPIPHONE LES PAUL CUSTOM (BLACK BEAUTY) OMG BRO ! I HAD 2 PUSH/PULL POTS, SEYMOUR DUNCAN HOT RODDED SET...THESE P/U's are hot nasty/big ballsy and i had the capacitors replaced with the Orange Drop ones ! I can play around with the coil tap and get and endless selection of tones. I can coil tap the neck and bridge pu's...f'n awesome bro !!!

  • Nice set up dude! I'm thinking about putting either "The Mule" or "Riff Raff" pups in my Les Paul Classic. I got the guitar second hand and I think alot of the electronics and wiring is pretty dodgy. Nice video! It gave me a few ideas :)

  • Great Review! Thanks a lot!

I have to wonder though, if you could only do one of these upgrades, which one would you do?

  • how much did everything cost you?

  • Great video, Kajeem. I've worked on two Epi Les Pauls and a Les Paul Jr. (see my guitar mod videos) and now have better sounding guitars. Your video has given me some good ideas. Thanks.

  • Wow thats great! How much did it cost in total?

  • Easy man, Bareknuckle Pickups Black Dogs. They are based on JImmy's sound.

  • @kjaem24 I email Tim at Bare Knuckle Pickups because I was looking for Zep tone aswell, he said despite the name Black Dogs may be to hot , he recommended the Mule neck and Riff Raff Bridge.

  • The same mods apply to the Custom as well. You shouldn't have any problems doing these modifications on a Custom.

  • I have the same guitar as you, the Riff Raff is AMAZING! I have an Alnico IV Mule in the neck though, and a Bigsby B70. I haven't changed all the wiring like you have though.

  • nice guitar, I'm doing the same upgrades to my epi. what size tusq nut did you use?

  • I actually just ordered the Tusq nut from ebay and chose the one that they had listed as suitable for LP's. You can buy a small filer and file down the sides and the slots because it may need minor adjustment. Other than that it was a breeze.

  • Did you need to modify the headstock to use the

Planet Waves Tuners or do they just drop right in. Thanks!

  • They line right up with the stock grover tuners. No modifications necessary.

  • i got the same just a plain top. and im thinking of getting new pickups i play alot of gnr and acdc and stuff like that and what u said it seems like those will work. i also like a bright classic clean tone. so if u could recommend some pickups for that. thanks! LINK PLZ!

  • Hey, me again with some questions. I want to upgrade my older guitar, and I'm thinking about getting new pickups. How much were the pickups? Can you buy them separately? And when you say the Stormy Monday "nails the Slash tone" do you mean with or without distortion? Because Slash is my hero ;) Any help is greatly appreciated.

BTW: I got my guitar a few weeks ago, love everything about it.

  • Congrats on the new guitar!

Bareknuckle Pickups can be bought separately. If you are planning on replacing both, then you can purchase a calibrated set (that just means the two pickups will be wound as a set). If not, just purchase one. They certainly aren't cheap. When you factor in the exchange rate, shipping, and customs fees, they will cost between 300-400 US dollars. Well worth it though IMO.

  • Regarding the Slash tone, the Stormy Mondays are low output vintage pickups using A2 magnets. They are "vintage correct" and are perfect for tones such as November Rain, Sweet Child O Mine, and Estranged. Basically, they do a very good job of creating that singing blues tone that Slash in known for. If in doubt, drop by the BKP forum, everyone there is very helpful. Cheers!

  • Cool, I'd probably prefer something I can get at my local store anyways, since I play for fun it's not like I need $500 pickups for a crap guitar. But I'll keep in mind the vintage sound, that's pretty much what I'm aiming for. Thanks!

  • Just keep in mind that Slash gets his tone from low output, vintage pickups(AII magnets). That's the secret!

  • err lol

  • Congrats maloccips!

  • I LOVE Les Paul guitars, I'll soon have my own Epi Standard too, getting mine in Cherry Sunburst.

  • Nice taste in finish. I love Cherry Sunburst. Have fun with it!

  • It's a great guitar for the price!

  • great video.peace

  • Thanks a lot emiliog1989!

  • Thanks man. I paid 439 Euros I believe.

  • nice vid bro

how much did you pay for the guitar?
