As my prior-service and fellow cadet friend (who served in the 3rd Ranger Bat and was deployed to Afghanistan) said the other day, there is no such thing as building up a tolerence to sleep deprivation.

Certainly you murdered quite a number of Vietnamese Villagers and Korean Villagers but IN TERMS OF ACTUAL MILITARY FIGURES, your Kill to Death Ratios has almost always been in favor of Americans dieing more than they kill enemies.
Anyone can just bomb a bunch of children and women villagers and consider it a military victory. But that has no bearing on actual one-on-one fighting with the military enemy, which you are notriously awful at.

retreat !! A very counterintuitive comment. They are the Cadillac of the Army. My criticism is the result of my military mentality, because I care. However, seeming the fords F150's have better military bearing. What can you discuss concerning military strategy to win this war.. The trajectory of this discussion is rudimentary-lets talk like Officers and not Privates.

Thanks for your shotgun blast generalization. I recommend you read Dan Ricks blog and his recent rules of the road post. Youre a noisy gong. Discussing strategy with you is a lost cause, youre already set in your ways without legitimate knowledge based argument, just chest pounding.

It depends on where you did AIT and your MOS. Equivalently, it depends on when you completed AIT; if you completed it during the early 1990's at Bragg, Sill, or Benning !!

CHUCKNADDGONADIESLOW - does not matter how long one is awake. Infantrymen stay awake for days at a time when going through joint readiness training or when in combat. They were not standing "at ease" ; but were sitting and he fell asleep. He will regret it. He will not make a good platoon leader.

Cadets are toy soldiers-never go through Basic or AIT.. Idoits think this is funny but this cadet has no military bearing and will be punish for falling asleep when the CIC is speaking. He should get a punitive article from UCMJ ; however, I doubt West Point enforces military regs..

anyone who thinks basic or AIT is hard, is inherently in and of themselves fairly weak. Sounds like you are disgruntled.
If I had to guess, there is a far far far higher percentage of West Point graduates who go to and pass Ranger school than enlisted personnel. If you want to compare apples to apples, pick a school that real men go to.

Sir, not to disrespect any prior-enlisted officer, but based on the modest stack of ribbons the sleeping cadet is sporting it seems to me that he is a prior-service cadet who is just as eligible for OCS as he is USMA. As my prior-service and fellow cadet friend (who served in the 3rd Ranger Bat and was deployed to Afghanistan) said the other day, there is no such thing as building up a tolerence to sleep deprivation.

Trust me Sir, we do enforce military regs. And I think you have the wrong impression of WP. Our training program has changed.... I dare to say we have the best training out of all the commissioning sources. Also, it is unfair to say that he will he a horrible platoon leader because he fell asleep in the presidents speech. You do not know what he did that day or at what time he went to sleep. It is easi to stay awake when you are doing exercise or any physical activity, instead of just sitting
