  • I work with children with lots of types of 'learning difficulties' and it breaks my heart that most of them are being pumped full of unnecessary drugs.

BUT - one thing that confused me is that in some videos your'e seen with a can of diet coke, do you drink this? if so it's no different to the Pharmaceutical Companies, Aspartame is such a dangerous chemical found in all sorts of food products and is given the all clear by the 'FDA'. Its not worse than all the drugs so check it out.

    Peace xxxxxx

  • It is true that children are over-diagnosed, but claiming that some people don't actually have disorders that can be helped through medication is completely ignorant. I guess that the fact that this is labeled a rant dignifies how uneducated it sounds.

  • Grant your a great speaker.I 've been looking into this and from what I see its a man made scam.It looks like psychological segregation. It seems that if someone has more or less of a specific group of traits primarily left brained traits they get labeled with a unscientific bogues label. It all so seems that the majority of these labels seem to go to the minority right brained people with right brained traits. Its label, disseminate, sedate and incarcerate.I hope you continue to speak out.Thank you!

  • Grant this is my favorite video! You are the man. Thank you for saying this.

  • I've been diagnosed with all these letters and acronyms, too. And I AM a genius. Testify, brother!!!

  • im on 1000 mgs of serequel at night and 500 in the morning and its state mandated

  • i just love the way u said "A-D-H-D. DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT STANDS FOR? THIS IS THE BIGGEST CROCK OF SHIT!" God knows how many times i played that back. lmfaoo i love this guy! but i believe in mental disorders but i do feel like you do that kids shouldnt be medicated. i was a zombie for 3 days straight and i rememeber i wanted to cry but i couldnt :P

  • i been diagnosed with adhd and bipolar and depression and when i was little i could have been diagnosed as schitzophrenic and ocd not that i really think of it cause i was a neat freak like i would go bipolar on your ass if u layed a finger on my things and i was always worried someone would harm me and every day i was like asking my grandmother everyday nothing gonna happen to me right?? while bawling my eyes out cause i was always acting like im 100% sure someone was after me so im a GENIUS!!!

  • @star2474 *now that i think of it

  • My comments start at the bottom of the page, if you would like to actually be able to read it in order.

  • How about this idea: If society actually opened up its scope of who and what is acceptable in the world pharmaceutical companies would not be able to profit off of cognitive diversity. Neurological phenotype works the same way the gene expression works in the way that you look on the outside. People's brains function differently and it doesn't have to be as drastic as autism to exist.

People think in schemas- assumptions that categorize for the ease of recall later so it is (to be concluded)

  • @PopCULTureHigh so it is no surprise that our society likes to categorize and group the people within it. The problem is the stigma that comes with it. If you think in an ADD or ADHD pattern (I rarely say "have ADD", because I don't think of it like a disease) there are 2 groups you're up against. There are the people that say the way that your functions is a myth and you should just try harder to be more like them. Then there are the people that acknowledge that you are different and want to..

  • @PopCULTureHigh want to medicate you. The problem is not the way that people think, but that people think that everyone should function and act a like. I am a highly motivated person that who's brain happens to function in the ADD(I'm not hyper)pattern. People with ADD/ADHD are not just lazy or need to JUST DO IT like everyone else.

I am fairly well known in my college. I am an Honors Student, leader of the most successful student association on all 3 campuses, and work with faculty to...

  • @PopCULTureHigh initiate student programs for foreign students, and I'm currently helping the school deal with the students that have issues completing.

I myself almost dropped out of last semester and contemplated not coming back after this semester.

    Why?

Because school is not set up for someone like me. People that have ADD/ADHD cannot regulate stimulus at will. I once spent 7hrs reading the same paragraph from my Honors Existentialism book, because every time someone would move, cough, ect.

  • @PopCULTureHigh I'd forget what was I'd just read. I couldn't filter out my environment and I was not able to leave where I was. On the other hand there are times when I have banged out 3 research papers and a Prezi presentation in less than 12hrs and received an A on all of them.

The problem is that I cannot control when either will happen. There isn't a "fair" way to regulate this in school, because the presumption is that everyone is starting from similar baselines and that grades will...

  • @PopCULTureHigh accurately measure effort+intellect. It doesn't. But it is what people look at for ascertaining how worth while you are to invest in. So it pains me when someone who is not as intelligent or who will not use the material learned gets a better grade simply because they could bang out a mediocre paper faster than a paper I would've received an A on if my brain jumps when the world tells it to jump. I'm great at "doing things", coming up creative ideas, and organizing OTHER PEOPLE.

  • @PopCULTureHigh But the world values people that can play within a set of rules, some of which are inconsequential. My brain doesn't work that way, but as people at my school have seen I have a lot to offer the world.

So I said all of the above to say:

The rules of society are not natural. They are unnatural constructs of the collective group that are suppose to make civility. However, as it right now it is excludes members of the population. It is the population that are the physis in...

  • @PopCULTureHigh in this equation. So instead of trying to force people to fit into society or alternatively sympathize, but medicate them to fit into society; why not work to make the structure of society fit the people in it instead of trying to make people fit the structure of society?

  • FINALLY someone that gets it!

  • I AGREE WITH THIS 1000%

  • Awesome!

  • Was "delusional" also one of Mr. Grant's disorders?

  • EXCELLENT Video! I've been planning to produce a few of these kinds of videos about psych drugging and thought. Great example of excellent video! Top reason why someone gets labeled, especially kids, is because someone got annoyed! If someone annoys another person, they label them as crazy. If someone disagrees with your reality, they call you crazy. Insanity can be described as trying to stop something and then going crazy for stopping more. What are you trying to stop? What do you resist?

  • As far as I'm concerned, ADHD was created when parents decided they couldn't control their kids. Never used to exist until recent years. Diagnosing children this young is basically making an excuse for not being able to raise them properly. I know folks with "ADHD" and as they've gotten older, they are the same as anyone. And before, they were just kids with a little too much energy who needed something to channel that into, rather than being labelled for life

  • @Hanxa13 Excellent points!

  • That's wassup. That's the TRUTH. :)

  • there is no difference between being a junkie, and alcoholic, and being on psychiatric drugs. you're treating life and everyday problems with a chemical. Children need love and attention, not a sedative. Ritalin is a great babysitter isnt it, you pathetic excuse for a parent.

  • if you honestly think there are some people who "need" these bullshit drugs, you have clearly not done your research and do not know the facts. no one on the planet"needs" psychiatric drugs. tell me, what the hell happens when those who "need" drugs dont take them? NOTHING. it seems theres a frickin pill for every one of life's issues. 100 years ago no one had these drugs and they were FINE. Deal with everyday issues like a fucking adult, not drown them in a pill.

  • I both agree and disagree. I agree that drug companies are out to make a profit. i agree that parents and doctors are quick to put a label on their child to deal with their issues. but i do however believe that there are people out there who really do need these drugs. the drugs are overused though, i do agree there.

  • you know there's passion when you throw a pencil at the end of your bit!

truer words have not been said, my friend. one more thing to be conscious of when I have kids someday.

  • amen

  • Amen

  • About time someone said it loud & clear. Go Grant!

  • Once In A While Some Kids DO Indeed Need Some Drugs For Behavior Problems BUT He Is SO RIGHT 85% Of Adults And Children NEED To LEARN And Be Taught To LISTEN We As A Nation Have Little Patience Or Discipline The Fear Of God And Your Parents Kicking Your Butt Mean Something I Don't Mean Abuse BUT RESPECT And Not Feeling Entitled Is A HUGE Problem With Adults And Children Hard Work Fixes Most Of This With Teaching RESPECT Great Rant

  • How About Making Children LISTEN And ATTENTION And Have RESPECT This is THe PROBLEM

  • but NO ph.d fucktwat!

  • best damn grant rant ever

  • wow, i love your honesty Grant. It's rare.

  • Fuck Yeah!! Well Said Brother, well said!!

  • You speak the truth!!

  • I want to pull the little blonde chicks hair too! Don't buy Big Pharma and their drugs, you don't have ADD you don't have ADHD you don't need Ritalin, you're not depressed, you're not bipolar you don't have a problem. Live life, don't hide from it!

  • Right on G! STRONG!

  • This is awesome, I've been told I have ADD as well, fuck that, O look a cat.....

  • Who are to blame about this nonsense? You blame the pharmacological industry, I blame the doctors who play the game, the industry just gives then the darts to play with, the doctors throw them at you.

  • @Fancylooks They are all in it together.

  • Now for that I might consider occupying Wall Street, Amen Brother!

  • Kick their stupid asses Grant!

  • Grant, my girlfriend and I loved your show, what is going on with more Episodes? Who do we need to call! Great timing also, I am launching a similar model that I came up with earlier this year when I got my car and just heard about TrueCar. Look for it as a serious competitor!

  • Real truth.

  • ES LA VERDAD!!!

  • dead on!! if you are not a bag of dirt.. and have real emotions ups /downs. etc you are drugged. pharma has to sell --push -- those pills man. each year a new normal human emotion is labeled as a disorder. its horrible. messing with brain chemistry antidepressents linked to sucicide etc. had to get my dad off them -- he was going crazy. bottom line they have no idea the long term effects of these things. scary !!!

  • You are right on, on this subject Grant. Great video.

  • Another brilliant ... on point video my man!

  • All very true
