Lesbian relationships don't all fit one model, either. And neither do straight ones. With Nat and Olivia, it just seems like Olivia would be a more stricter, disciplinarian type of person with Rafe. And someone using the term "father figure" in that sense isn't trying to say she's a man or the "guy" in the relationship. Sometimes in straight couples, it's the mom who's more strict and the dad who's a softie. And some lesbian relationships DO follow "traditional" roles whether it's common or not.
