I like the heavy gage steel pipe you've used. (I used thin stove pipe and thinking about changing.)
Insulating with either vermiculite or perlite will help tremendously. It isolates the heat inside the combustion chamber, making the fire more efficient, causing the heat to be concentrated and distributed up to the pan/pot.
@RonRay Thanks for the comment. I am currently working on a new project based on this same process, that is going to be so awesome! Just dealing with work and cold weather and a shop that is too full of junk to work in! LOL
