just like when they were playing, nothing ruins a doors performance when ray grabs the mike... i liked to think if jim was alive to share the reward he wouldve put his boot down rays mouth.
I love that Robbie's parents were still around to see their son inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame-especially when they were the one's who helped the band out financially when they needed to buy an instrument-and I guess they are pleased the band didn't have to pay them back. :)
@faeryquene I have some very rare photos of Andy and Anne Morrrison (Chewning) at a fairly recent family reunion if anyone is interested. I have the photos uploaded on my Flickr page. Just send me an email if you are interested and I'll email you the link.
At points in Rays speech if you look over his shoulder Ann resembles Jim. You gotta believe he was there for that one as Ray read Jim's poetry which so greatly influence for the Doors to make music.
How amazing, how deserving and thank you so much Jim Morrison..you are and forever will be the god of rock, freedom, life and death..noone will ever ever EVER replace these guys but mostly JIM....so good and so heartfilling to see Anne...how proud she must be of her brother...WE LOVE YOU JIM...
Ray has always tried to put his spin on Jim Morrison, from his lyrics to his songs, and Jim wasn't about peace and love. He was about anarchy, death and pain, and it killed him in the end. Jim really was an artist, and most artists are tortured souls, that's why they're artists. They write, paint, sculpt and speak about the human condition, the absence of God in their lives, the pain in their hearts from that knowledge.
Good speeches from everyone, except Ray who needs to shut up and play his keyboards. He's far more profound on an organ and piano bass than he is when he opens his mouth.
@russallert I agree wholeheartedly. When "Rockers" like him,Springsteen,Mellencamp start preaching how everybody ought to act or think or vote I turn em off.
The Doors have the finest induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of all time. It's good to see Jim Morrison's sister, Anne, whose still a vision of loveliness which her older brother, Jim, certainly had to "approve" of her early boyfriends in junior and senior high school. Jim Morrison was allegedly harder on his sister Anne's high school boyfriends than Mr. Morrison was! Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.
Concerning to literature and poetry, (from that perspective), they don't say: The American Poets The Doors. They say: The American Poet James Douglas Morrison. Different concepts. U can enjoy The Doors as a group and of course they're good musicians. But the "mastermind" still Jim Morrison.
I don't think Jim's really cares about this. When I say I like The Doors I say I like Jim. His poetry and his philosophy. His call for all humans to discover ourselves in order to be free. Music was part of is fine. But was just the instrument that JIm used to spread his message. After all, he became a rock-star by accident. He prefered to be recognized as a poet.
I don't think The Doors was part of the Hippie Movement even when the use of psychodelic drugs was part and was a really violent era. His message through his poetry and music was in some way different to most of the hippie music. Was dark and beautiful at the same time. Violent and sweet. Different...
Ive always liked the doors, untill this video, when ray called Ronald Reagan a fucking fascist! Ronald Reagan is the greatest US president to ever live! I am officialy giving up the doors for good
@BananaBreakable I don't think U need to feel unconfortable for this. Have nothing to do with Jim Morrison which is the real meaning of The Doors. Also Jim never got involved with politics. I think this is a personal point of view and a stupidity from this guy.
@crystalship42 It is true that Jim was more interested in the poetry of it all, but at one point he did really like the thought of being a musician. They were tho most definitely part of the counterculture and hippie movement, their music talked about love... Jim Morrison was a front man of the 60's, and the difference in their music instead of creating enlightenment with music like the rest, they created "endarkenment."
@SmellsLikeReason You need to be in the dark to recognize light and after knowing the light, you will be back into the dark my friend. Endarkenment or enlightenment can be with all respect a very personal perpective at the moment in trying to understand an artist mind. When we try to understand a piece of art or get into an artist mind. Yours need to be naked first.
@SmellsLikeReason Of course Jim was interested in music. He knew was a powerful tool to get into people's mind. A Doors concert was like going to Church, was a ritual more than a concert. But was his performance and lyrics what really made The Doors so special. After Jim left, the rest of the members tried and they failed.
@crystalship42 Well, I wouldn't say it is the equivalent of going to church, because most of the time while at church it is a very predictable predicament you are in. Unless you put it in the perspective that Jim is like the mystic preacher who is trying to bring enlightenment to all of those in the concert. The actual Doors concert tho I would agree is like a ritual, and it was a very mysterious and exciting experience.
@crystalship42 The Doors were strange even to the other groups who themselves seemed strange and different to the normal crowd of the day. See I'm not just in love with The Doors, but I am also in love with the time they are associated with.
I don't think eddie's trying to be british,he was just so polite and nice to have inducted the doors, one of the best inducting videos I've seen yet,by the way I like pearl Jam too.
Man that sucks, Jim didn't even get to live long enough to see what all his work, lyrics, poems would get the doors to so much success and getting inducted in to the rock and roll hall of fame wow sucks. R.I.P. Jim Morrison.
i dont think it was so much liking jim, as it was accepting the life jim chose to live. More importantly the way he chose to live it especially when it affected their on stage performances. I would love to hear their last concert in New Orleans , but i have been told it was a disaster before they took the stage. Jim could definately write some beautiful words rock on word man always better then the bird man...
Eddie got his years fucked up when mentioning specific albums.
