Well, what you believe is up to you, but it makes no difference on the facts. Cold and hot reading is a widely spread technique even if you don´t think it´s possible. Many mediums are real good. Real good because they make believe the readee, that she comes up with absolutely impossible information. But they use very subtle tricks. That´s why anecdotical accounts can´t be construed as proof. memory is selective

@ebrobaru You seem to be alleging mediums use the techniques used by mentalists to predict the thoughts of individuals after applying stimulus to their senses. That is what I understood by your comment.

The difference is that many mediums come up with information such as personal details and names without prior knowledge of (or contact with) the individual.

If such information is not coming from spirit sources I don't understand how it can otherwise be humanly possible to predict this.

@wks1978 You are confusing two different things. Mentalists do have their own techniques. But they are performers, they do it for entertainment. They never claim to have any supernatural powers. Mediums, in the other hand, use very easily and explainable techniques to produce what seem as amazing results. Just like any magician. They make it seem that thye predict things but they don´t. Look up "cold reading" and "hot reading". Those are just 2 of several techniques used

@ebrobaru I'm sorry but I don't agree. I don't believe "cold reading" and "hot reading" are in fact possible in practice. As a former sceptic myself I was astonished to find a medium produce details of my dead father including his name and occupation, as well as a description of the landscape behind my house which he was familiar with.

We had no previous contact and there was absolutely no way she could have known these facts otherwise.

Perhaps some people fake mediumship, but I believe many have this gift and this person seems to be one of them. I believe their are spirits in the afterlife that desire to speak thru/to people because they are confused as to where they are or they just have other ties to earth. Spirits have the capability to re-visit earth and communicate with us, if there is a vessel whereby they can speak. Check out the teachings of AJ Miller and you'll learn much more.
