  • its so true. you can't run away. its very hard, and few actually face up, but the personal growth from such an approach to life is immeasurable, and intangible.

  • dammmmmmmmmmm im feelin this flow

  • Honestly one of the best songs! too bad Wiz Khalifa fucked with the song

  • This beat was also used in Mya's "Fallen"!!!

  • lovin` this beat;)

  • 0:12 to 0:15 WIZ KHALIFA MOMENT-------> Yeah... Okaay!

  • This beat is soooo smooth... Damn

This is an awesome song to get suck in your head...

  • The new school is weak, no one can say I didn’t give it a chance…I did and its weak. No lyical content, no one saying a damn thing. Just a bunch of damn fool making 35min music videos “that’s a direct line of fire to you Kenye” that make no damn sense . Time to get back to real Hip Hop and hope that one day soon some little kid will listen to it and be inspired to bring it back

  • This beat was sampled for the singer Mya's "Fallen" off oher Mood ring album I love that song too

  • i try give new school a chance (only fair...lolol!), but seriously.......this music HERE is classic stuff! No comparison. PERIOD!

  • wow when I listen to this song it reminds me of my childhood days. because i remember listing to this song when I was little good times This is REAL HIPHOP instead of this garbage these days FUCK ALL THAT NEW SHIT.

  • wiz kalifa got da same beat

  • @MyMariposa2009 wiz sampled off these guys, wiz aint good enough to make a beat like this lol

  • 2:54 and on shows why Dilla is the greatest hip hop producer ever....he has the ability to draw in a listener to the mood that exemplifies the lyrics better than the rapper ever could. He can never be overcome not even in death, because his imprint is in your favorite producer. They say greatness occurs when the greatest before you isn't mentioned when discussing your talents. And dilla stands alone in that manner.

  • @JColeM7785 I aint heard this in a minute, heard it yesterday on new york undercover

  • J DILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I will always love this hip hop but due to the state of it today, more into rock

  • Tune !. ice cool beat too nice ;-)

  • @mccumiskey87 DILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this beat is sexy

  • @BrandonCowabunga i agree, it reminds me of chill ass summer days in the 90's to now. :) it reminds me of roadtrips in the summer with all the good homies, bonfires, partyin, not comin home till dawn and sleepin in till noon hahahah. i like your chain of thought when it comes down to this shit right here :)

  • @musicaddictification fuck yeah dude all of the above roadtrips especially its soooo nice

  • @BrandonCowabunga I agree

  • Wow I think I was a teeny bopper when this came out like 14-15 there was such a diversity in what u heard from artists. Now I do still like hip-hop but I have very few songs that really make me wow. The best out today can probably rival the best of my day, but they lack originality, creativity, and in some cases vocabulary, and they are not lyrical. There will be no next Big and Pac I'm over it.

  • ( Ikura + desu + ka ) this cd lol lol

  • This was when music was message. Today, music makes no meaning.

  • one of the most amazingest songs ever made/produced!!!!!!!!

  • CAnt kepp runnin away! nice shitt cought it off 8mile but i knew tha beat from wiz. n now i know!! lol..

  • good song

  • we miss u Dilla!

  • watchin 8 mile and got reminded of this track....labcabincalifornia 4eva!!!!

  • i agree with you tattedtex, mainstream garbage is just corporate bullshit, created to sale albums using sex and money. talent today, you have to find underground. if you like the pharcyde there are plenty of old shool groups and new groups out there that use the old method. souls of mischief, a tribe called quest, Hieroglyphics, the roots and living legends. it just sucks that the shit we like is out of the mainstream. look up the grouch- artsy.

  • 8 thumbs down? Fkn youngins.

  • @cptyarr Not all "young" people hate music like this. I'm 14 and i don't even listen to the corny mainstream bullshit.

  • @shahryarization HELL YES!!

  • @shahryarization Welcome to the intelligent life, where you slowly realize how retarded society has gotten with almost everything, especially music. I hope one day stuff like this comes back, but its unlikely. society just keeps getting dumber, and dumber.

  • @rangrgoto1 I know that, but not ALL of the young people listen to the mainstream bs.

  • @shahryarization I know that, I'm 16 and despise mainstream. I was just saying, if you're actually smart enough to form your own opinion about music, then you'll probably start to form your own opinion about more stuff and realise how much people base their opinions off others, its like that with everything.

  • @rangrgoto1 You sound like a smart 16 y/o

  • @cptyarr lol,im 15 nd i luv dis song

  • @cptyarr I have now heard TRUE hip hop and I did not shun away from it.

  • @cptyarr im a yougin who's 15 and gave thumbs up

  • @cptyarr Haha 4real..I mean fukk I'm still pretty young myself, 19, but I know This song is jus' one of tha' many examples of when Hip-Hop was fukkn Real..I aint w.all that shit nowadayz.

  • i been trying to find this song for days finelly i find it thxs for puting this song up

  • curren$y hit this beat nice not better than the original tho..

  • This was when rap was something worth listening to....takes me back to college dayz

  • Vinnie Paz used the RUN RUN part and i was like oh shit Wiz? but then i guessed Wiz sampled it too, its still all good

  • WIZ KHALIFA WAS BETTER ON THIS BEAT

  • @ACHAI7 shut yo ass up Wiz aint got nuthin on these legends...He ruined the song...Pharcyde made this song with the late great J.Dilla and you come up in here talking bout Khalifa youre a clown

  • @bistroman12 oh im sorry, i didnt know that someone's opinion on something wast what THEY thought, but anyone else's..if i think wiz was better, then i think so, you hav no right to tell me im a clown because of what i think of something

  • @ACHAI7 But Wiz Khalifa ruined the song This is why hip hop is in a state of emergency bcuz ppl dont acknowledge the greats like Pharcyde, Eric B & Rakim, Boogie Down Productions, Big Daddy Kane, Souls of Mischief, A Tribe Called Quest, Brand Nubian, Del etc. Instead they acknowledge wackness like Wiz Khalifah, Lil Wayne Its a damn shame

  • @ACHAI7 wiz wasnt better if you ask me..i dont get all the hype behind wiz khalifa..hes not all that good if you ask me...i cant beileve im saying this but i think lil wayne is better than wiz.

  • @sneakerfiend219 hows the weed ur smoking? ur obviously high rite now lol..wiz is good, not saying hes a great or sumthing, just saying hes a good rapper, i like his stoner style

  • @ACHAI7 sober as a mother fucker when i said that..its just my personal opinion ..i dont really think wiz is that good.

  • omg i fckin luv this song and now hate justin bieber wanna b gangsta and every thinks r n b is da proper hip hop like chavs and this song rehminds me of ma young days

  • this is very beautiful check my runnin' j dilla tribute out aswell

  • @tattedtex

im only 22 and im 100% with you ti actually has a mixtape out called fuck a mixtape and he elaborates on this issue...i love this song i want u to b one of my critics when i put my music out in the world...plz do me that favor...

  • The beginning gets me everytime

  • people need to drop this fruitless love affair with the old school. it's gone, and it's not coming back. listen a little closer and you'll realize that a lot of today's mcs are dropping quality shit, it's just a little more ambivalent. keep an open mind, comb the underground, suspend your snobbery and give "sell-out" mainstream mcs a chance, and you'll find it's not such a cold world after all. hip hop won't die until the love does!

  • @yourengland People are going to listen to what they want to hear, it might not come back but it doesn't have to cause it's timeless. And I agree new cats are putting out quality shit but people are too ignorant to look for it, like most people just assume that all of rap is tasteless garbage when they hear Wacka flocka, Soulja Boy, Gucci, OJ n all that shit. Not knowing we got ppl like J. Cole, Skyzoo, Lupe Fiasco, One Be Lo, JMT, Little Brother, Blu & Exile, tons of talented emcees..

  • @NoeezyC4 kick push however gay it was, atleast it was an attempt to speak from what he loved in life... ill give credit where its due...but JMT and a few more you listed, blah

  • @tattedtex lol stop being a ignorant fuck, kick push wasn't even his best song. and if you seriously think the others i listed aren't talented you shouldn't be talking about hiphop. go listen to j cole - dead presidents, jmt - uncommon valor, lupe - streets on fire, masta ace - nostalgia, one be lo - back on the scene, crown city rockers - without love, blu&exile - the world is, the roots - the day, etc.

Like I said, step out of your comfort zone and give some newer cats a chance.

  • @NoeezyC4 1rst off ~It is "stop being (an) ignorant fuck. 2nd~ I think my time is worth more than some lil boy playing on a computer his mommy and daddy bought and paid for.

So when you just keep writting back months later and get no response from me mate, just re-read how little faith and respect everyone expects from your whole generation. We know education cut backs have made our kids suffer, but mostly its just a lack of trying...not to forget you all wear chick pants & are so tuff. yup.

  • @tattedtex

-Actually I have held a job since I was 16, and my parents raised me to work for everything I want or need. Btw, bought and paid for is the same thing.

-Months later? I just got a email less than a day ago telling me your response to my comment.

-In your caveman brain it seems you can't help but think we all listen to the same radio shit and blast soulja boy. Go listen to the songs I previously mentioned. You seem to be the one with the 'lack of trying' just to find good music.

  • @NoeezyC4 but yo straight up kick push is hip hop and not hit pop

  • @yourengland

not snobbery mate...i will never change your mind about todays so-called music being ALL crap and its not your fault. you are too young to understand and link those "old" songs to anything and the only way you listen to them is from being forced not out of want to enjoy. I dont and wont budge on the topic of (esp. mainstream hip hop) todays shit to be something of value, it all says the same dumb shit...1money 2bitches 3cars 4drugs 5sex... go ahead and dissagree IDK...

  • I guess you just have to get used to the new world order

  • @Eddiek90 SAD BUT TRUE

  • the remix of this is soo good

  • Legends

  • There is a little hope, mos def is layin down some pretty funky shit

  • i f**king love this track. I heard it when i was a kid n Im still feeling it! This is real hip hop sh*t...dam I miss the ol' skool

  • i cant remember yall

    what year was this?????

  • soo good

  • Always loved the hook and the beat

  • I thought this was all Wiz khalifa, but This shit is WAYYYYYY better.

  • This song is nothing short of SPAC-MOTHERFUCKIN-TACULAR

  • Makes me wanna go drive through DC, this song.

Light years ahead of today's bullshit. Anyone who doesn't think so deserves a baseball bat to the knee.

  • J Dilla was a musical genius!!!

  • The beat is sick.

  • This reminds me so much of when I used to live in Florida, turned up in my beat up car, windows down with the warm air flowing inside, airing out after a little puff. Love it and just got the hankering to hear it. thanks for the upload.

  • this is classic!!!! but there are rappers that still make this type of music so it really hasnt gone anywhere its just not supported like the new skool rap... dont hate congradulate that rap still even exists when so many want rap to die :)

  • get over yourself. people want rap to die? you could say that about any genre

  • I really could give two shits about anyone... i love you man!!!!!

  • WORD! this is that real...i miss music like this.......ima bring it back!

  • Yeeeeessssssss! love

  • love this song!!!!!

  • i wish i could give tattedtex like 20 thumbs up but they only allow me 1

  • still my fav song!!Love it.. Oldschool never die..

  • i dont the rappers now...you can keep all them...i'll rep this...

  • fucking 1995, lab in california, right? i remember this song playing on new york undercover, love malik yoba and michael delorenzco, drop and runnin are the best songs, hieroglyphics, pharcyde, organized konfusion, black star, fucking good shit.

  • @ekho26

    Absofuckinlutely!

  • fucking classic !

  • whoo..

this is my fav hip song EVA--well it is tied wif tupac song "so many tears"...but anyway thers sometng special about this song ,its lyk it speakin 2 me...

and telling me i cant run away from who iam ,and what i need to do or be(and yet i dont want 2 be)???choices of life (it sucks ryt now)..anyway never mind me everyone ,,just listen 2 music ,if u lyk...bye..

  • THIS BEAT IS CRAZY HOT STILL.

  • wiz khalifa brought this beat back..its called name on cloud..its not as tight as this but still sick

  • if hip hop would have stuck around insted of the shit that all these punks are listening to these days...it would have been a better world. this was back when using ones brain and imagination to create and inspire others to get lost in what the artist was saying and then relate...but today its about stupid shit? why? what happened to the complex thinking of the human race? with every new generation the music got more dull and uninteresting... im dissappointed in how unoriginal every1 is now. :(

  • could not have said it better

  • Couldnt agree with you more.. I mean, I'm a 90 model and I should be into the mainstream music of today but seriously.. newschool rap is just a piece of crap you cant use for nothing els but get chicks to shake their asses on the dancefloor, oldschool hiphop gave you someone you could relate your situation to, gave you hope. Its like Chris rock once said, oldschool rap you could defend by breaking it down intellectualy.. you cant defend " I got hoes in diffrent area's "

  • @Nickey90 Applying these definitions to entire eras of hip hop is pretty stupid.

  • @tattedtex Dude there is no original shit now because nobody gives it a chance to grow before passin it of as some kinda rip off of someone else. If you look and give certain music a chance there is some cool shit around. Im saying this but i hate fiddy and anyone with fuckin lil in their name to. Just a thought, try listening to a french group called hocus pocus. Theyre a bit of a mix between jazz, soul and hip hop. even though i cant understand a fuckin word its awsome. Peace.

  • @tattedtex I agree fellow hiphop head but check out "DILATED PEOPLES,EVIDENCE,SWOLLEN MEMBERS, DEFARI,CALI AGENTS, BEATNUTS....shit man thers a BUNCH of intelligent artists! Dont give up yet. Check out "People under the Stairs" thats some fresh ass shit!!!!! For real you should check em out. I used to be where ur at as far as music but I came back. Word up.

  • @tattedtex nah you obviously don't search hard enough for good music. I know what you are saying but there is plenty of good hip hop these days, but at the same time you are right stuff like Kesha, Lil' Wayne, T-Pain is just garbage

  • @tattedtex J. Cole, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Eminem, Nas, Charles Hamilton, Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, MF Doom, Immortal Technique, Jay Electronica, Asher Roth, B.o.B. Plus you can stick with the real old school. Biggie, Tupac, Gangstarr, Easy E, Ice Cube, Diplomats, Souls of Mischief, Wu Tang, Common. List goes on but I'm done for now

  • @tattedtex

pffffffttt hiphop sucks today, there are much better genres
