  • hey nice ride love the build great video..

    i think ive ruined my st185 rc oil blowing out of bov and in intake and a little out the dipstik turbo is a stage2 ct26 hybrid quiet new still boost strong..no oil blow by from cap a little smoke not alot no oil in spark plugs but carbon build up..also doesnt smoke alot a little blue and sounds like its missing.also mechanic said its backpressure blown camshaft and rocker cover seal pcv blocked??i realy hope it aint ringland :(

    it's sad to say but ''oil blowing up from bov + oil in intake + smoke from dipstick'' is exactly the symptoms of broken ringlands :(

    because i had got the same problems before...

    unfortunately i think it's the ringlands.

    first of all, make a compression test buddy.

  • @ATT33mali thanks for your reply im probably rebuilding my st185rc ive seen 500hp on the forged internals u used in your celica..theres some forged ross pistons 99814 86mm im hoping to buy this week will the eagle rods fit perfectly??

    don't worry about the pistons :) even the oem 3S-GTE pistons can hold up more than 500hp+ , the brand of an aftermarket forged piston is not very important, it has got many many fours where runing more than 700hp's with pistons like wiseco/cp/je.... etc.

    don't spend much for the pistons buddy, spend more to your EMS and Turbo to reach big hp's :)

    about your question; yes it will fit perfectly, no matter if ross, oem or another piston :)

    i've decided to eagle rods only because they are lighter than the oem rods :)

    otherwise the oem's are robust enough like the oem's :)

    i'm curious about your rebuild :) we can always exchange info when you need it :)

  • @ATT33mali i decided eagle rods 86mm forged pistons for the extra strength aiming for 500hp in future ;) did u use 86mm pistons standard bore?? i want your engine lol mechanic done a good job sounds mint on 1st start up..engine still running strong?

    yes i've decided to go with standart 86mm bore + sleeves, it's still running hard :)

    i've made a dyno at once i down with running in period (1750km's) and the car was 208hp with only 9psi of boost, stock exhaust, stock intake, 1.6mm headgasket (thick), 9afr mixture (extremly rich) :D and only one pull!

    i was so happy when i saw this result :D this was the evidence how healthy the car was.

    now i runnin' @15psi boost and 11.5:1 afr :)

    i know your car will be a nice ST185 :)

  • oh man i have same car having a problem with the water gettting to hot in radiator and coming out and always filling my overflow bottle why is this happening note i have taken out thermostat also not running car with coolant as i was told it had a blown water pump but it seems to have good flow in radiator so can u help me plz it is a st185 3sgte

    hi there...

    possible blown headgasket? you say it has got waterflow but you must always fill the bottle because it reduces...

    it's like a blown headgasket symptom...

    have you got any mods? what boost you runnin'?

  • nice vid man. i got a st165 drove it around about a month and was pushing 14 psi and blew a head gasket due too thermostat shut closed and water pump went out pulling out the engine at the moment lol

    thanks my buddy... and my condolences on your headgasket, but this can be a opportunity to put in a metal headgasket, and a low temp. thermostat ;)

  • Nice build getting rid of those stock pistons is the way to go with the 3sgte engine that opens up so many doors for power options.

    Just one question what did you use to help with the shut down issuse with that BOV you installed i have a blitz screamer waiting to be installed on my build but read alot on stalling issuse with 2nd gen 3sgte engines do to the AFM.

    Nice clean car , keep that shell stock , the st185 look so good stock well if you add RC parts like you did.

    yes i know this problem, but i've self no bad issues with the bov :)

    my opinion is to rerouting it back to the intake tract.

  • @ATT33mali Where did you run yours ? after the charge cooler or right into the tract? did you tap and die the tract?

    mine is not rerouted.

    i've welded a pipe into the intercooler pipe (between the turbo and cooler) and installed the bov with a hose. (you can see it in the pictures)

    my opinion to you is to install it like mines, or with a T hose between the turbo and intercooler... and when your car stalls after this installation, you can recirculate the bov to the intake tract (turbo hose) :)

    but try it at first without to recirculating, becaue it has got a nice sound :)

  • @ATT33mali Thx alot , I should have no worys then I have the full blitz kit with T hose from the turbo to the cooler , which I will still have to adapt to my setup with my tubular manifold setup i'm running.

    What size DP and exhust system you running ? and have you up graded your boost?

    no problem :) it will be perfect.

    i've got 3'' downpipe and 2.5'' pipes with all stock mufflers at the moment .

    but i will put a electronic cutout after the downpipe in a few days :)

    i run 15psi of boost at the moment with a HKS EVC-iv and HKS FCD.
