i really do miss donna, makes me think what wilf said, about her being so sad and unable to remember, plus the doctordonna's sub-concious is still within her, i know it wont happen, but what if the doctor ran into donna in the newer series? would the doctor say 'sorry' and run past her or would there be a second of 'ohhh...' and donna saying 'oi! what're ya bogglin at mister?' it'd be funny to see a donna vs amy moment, that'd be epic XD
This is absolutely the most cruel departure of the doctor. There are no gray areas, no doubts, no memories, nothing. A complete erasure of a life lived is a life killed and done sone without remorse. This is the doctor- dark, efficient, practical and yet oh so cold but at the same time a saviour. He is a paradox and the embodiment of salavation and destruction, always destined for turmoil and loss. Mankind loves the finality of their existance and he is a point of light, forever signaling th
David Tennant and his companions did what Matt Smith can never do. He gets into your heart. when he looses someone its hard for him because he LOVES them. When they first announced Donna as the new companion I cringed. By they reached Journeys End she had become so much more than anyone could have ever expected. She wasn't the same old love interest we had seen with previous companions. She was something the Doctor needed a lot more....She was his best friend.
well i can officialy say donna noble was the best companion ever and to see her leave like that just broke my heart it was so sad and its a shame that see can never remember the doctor but i think we can all agrea LONG LIVE DONNA NOBLE! because she was noble :D
I can't believe it... she was probably the best companion he's ever had, and she'll never be able to remember even one second of their wonderful adventures T.T
I must be one of the few people that liked this ending. Yes, it's sad and tragic, but that's the whole point. Not all heroes get to live happily ever after, or go on to reap the rewards of their deeds. Sometimes, they have to pay a heavy price, such as Donna did. The saddest part of her sacrifice is that she made it unknowingly through a cruel twist of fate, and didn't have a choice in the matter. But, sometimes that's what makes the hero's story so interesting in the end.
@livefromcouch Not necesarily. Somehwhere deep down there's still the potential for that person she became. She just needs to find it without the Doctor now. but theres the chance that he unlocked something in her, though she can't conciously remember, it's still there. (which is why he can't ever see her again, and they can't start over. she can't remember having all that stuff going through her head.) But she was brilliant anyway.
Is there some kind of movement to get Donna Noble back on the latest series? I can't believe the shitty ending they gave her. They could have at least shown that she had changed somewhat. Even if she can't remember The Doctor, could they not have thrown the Donna Noble fans a crumb. So she's going to win the lottery, big deal, she'll be rich and vacuous. And her poor lovely grandfather living with the knowledge.....Arrgh. Tragic.

@arnpriorite I agree. Whenever I hear her themes on the Series 3 and 4 soundtracks I imagine her feeling unsatisfied with her money and husband, finding out *some* things from her grandfather, and doing the whole 'independent investigation' thing on her own again just like Series 4 :)
Then throw in a plot device where her mental block is fixed and she can somehow absorb the timelord knowledge, and interaction with the Doctor, and you can give her a PROPER send off ;)
I cry everytime I watch this - Donna was the best companion ever for the Doctor - she was funny, crazy, sensitive - strong - and wanted to travel forever with him. This is so cruel to end her like this. Not only can't the doctor have any permanent love or romance, he also can't have a best friend - they all get taken from him.
The saddest thing about this ending is that Donna will never be able to remember, where as all the other companions can still think of the Doctor but she can't. In my opinion this was the most cruel ending they could of thought of for Donna.
@WindRasenShurikenKai I absolutely bawled when they did this then of course the next episode I see is the one with the new doctor and I'm like I'm done, they took Donna, now they've changed the Doctor, I'm done. Tho after about two weeks i decided to go ahead and give the new doctor a chance, tho i still think he looks like a dork... :(
@ShadowedEarthHeart if you look at Human Nature and the 11th Doctor's clothing they're wearing the clothing. thats the only memory of ten that we have of him and of course Amy's hair and attitude for donna.(oh and when his enemies and friends remember him and show images of him during flashbacks. thats a stong reason to keep watching well my reason anyway)
Oh my god. I cry every single time. You would think it would get easier, but it never, ever does. It's always just as painful as the first time - especially now that 10 has regenerated, it just feels like the whole Donna/Doctor dynamics is well and truly gone and forgotten.
I wish they did more for Donna in The End of Time, They should of made her the companion insted of Wilfrid, then she cud of had somtrhing to do with the storyline cus she is part timelord lol, i was disapointed at The End of Time if im honest :(
its so sad. donna was the most brilliant, loud, crazy and funny person on doctor who (besides the doctor). donna really braught some light to this show!
He's so bloody selfish!! I mean, she made a decision, i'm with Donna: I would die to not come back to a carent life... He has no right, to make her forget it all... it's so unfair, it was her choice... it was her fucking choice and he didn't respect it.
Yeah, I know! And do you think that's better? She was better with him, travelling across space and time changed her, the Doctor gave her an empty existence...and maybe it works for some people, but I would die before becoming like the 'previous Donna', I'd rather live a few seconds traveling on the Tardis better a whole life like that. But it's a personal choice.
Well The timelines are still converging on Donna still that is why she returns at christmas. I bet at New years eve special The Doctor will be trapped by the master or summet and Donna dies for remembering. :'( This is so sad
sorry i just read the comments and i am wondering...how is Donna going to return? I thought the doctor said that she doesn't remember anything and if she does she'll burn up...then again this is doctor who, anything is possible
Seriously? That is so annoying. They come up with a brilliantly tragic end to a character and then go "oh wait sorry let me fix that it's too sad!" GAHHHHHHH!
I believe the master will bring donna back and the master marrys donna he puts his ring on her and that keeps her timelord conscious inside the ring. Then Donna will die on new years eve
to me one of the saddest parts of this scene is when the doctor says bye to donna. if only she realised what and who she was saying bye to, to her he was just any old guy now :(
This is the saddest thing ever - seriously upset me. She finally thought her life had a purpose and she was more than just a "temp" and it has to all get taken away from her and she has to go back to life before she knew the Doctor with no memory of any of the things she achieved :(

Both our hearts break many times but its our cross to bear. For we are the few remaining time lords and while we live your earth is safe. Dont cry for us for this is our desteney.
In history, the Doctor rarely cry. He did cry for Rose but it wasn't the same thing - he loved her deeply and she was pretty much all he had after the Time War. When the Master died, he cried for their entire race. I think he cried when au "daughter" died, I'm not sure, but there again, there was this whole "I'm the last of the Time Lord" thing playing on.
Indeed, its how their relationship has begun but yet I like to think that their mutual need for each other has ended up growing into something more. I dont want to start a debate over the true nature of their feelings, though. I just liked their dynamic and some hints in episodes like Satans Pit or even Doomsday. :)
oh my god. this has to be the most heart wrenching scene in the whole DR WHO history. this just proves what an amazing actress she is. this scene is so hard to watch nearly a year later. this really breaks your heart and you really feel for poor donna
One of the best companions and saddest goodbyes ever.
Why do all my favorite companions have the most heartbreaking goodbyes (except Ace who never had one)? Jamie, Tegan, Sarah Jane (when she left 4), and now Donna.

No disrespect to the people who really love the Donna Noble character, for some reason, I just never really liked her. I think she rubbed me the wrong way even in that first Christmas Episode. Rose was also irritating. For me, I think Martha Jones was the best, when she was The Doctor's full time companion. Her cameo spots in Series 4 were kind of weak.
I'm still checking out the final two episodes on CBC, so I'll have to see what DN's final appearance is like.
Catherine Tate is AMAZING...I mean, there are no caps locks big enough to accurately represent this fact...Donna Noble + David Tennant + Steve Moffatt's writing would equal perfection
At first I just liked Donna cos it's possible to be a companion if you're not 19-25 and very very slim but I came to really like Donna. She became brilliant.
let's get this cleared up people. Rose absorbed the time vortex in 'Parting of the Ways' to destroy the daleks. In Doomsday she sacrificed herself by letting go of the magnet on the wall to pull the lever up so the daleks and cybermen would be sucked into the void. But Donna is still the grestest yet, next to Jack that is. And they did have the best of times.
Donna will be back I think.. Look at that big ring shes wearing when The Doctor goes into the kitchen to tell her going.. I think her returning might have something to do with it.
First off, I'd like to say that I am a Rose fan, a Martha fan, and a Donna fan.
All three added to the richness of the show, all so well written.
When I first heard Donna was coming back, I was worried, didn't think it would work--boy was I wrong! (thank goodness) She won me over very quickly; she is just so down toearth, so real in her reactions.
A poster said this scene breaks their heart into little pieces--yeah. Me too. It's devastating, all her memories gone. That, for me, is the worse.
I was so pissed they did this, it such a depressing ending! she was the best companion IMHO and the series was much better for it.
He wasn't mourning over Rose like he was in the previous series and Donna wasn't fawning all over him like Martha or Rose were either, they found a good balance and then go and cock it up!!!
this scene is brilliantly miserable, i hate russel for making this scene, it breaks my heart although 2bh it is really badly thought out because donna lives in london, with sarah jane martha etc all they'd have to do is say "hi donna seen the doctor lately?" and shes dead, or even just a whisper of doctor or tardis, i mean she cant go her entire life without seeing a doctor can she?, its really badly thought out 2bh, i think she will be back though, and the ring will have something to do with it
they wont bring her back for season 5 (river song still has to have her season first) but i think season 6 or 7, although david tennant is quitting after this years 4 specials :'(
I heard that to-but I heard DT is on through series 5 & then after that he will go. I also heard rumors they are offering him big bucks to stay...maybe just rumors.
As for River Song, I got the impression she didn't know the doctor in this incarnation. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought she knew him later, when he was older and different Doctor.
As for Donna, at first I was like most fans & was diappointed in her as the choice for his companion, but she turned out to be so perfect 4 him.
Yh thats what i thought, the way she introduced herself and didnt seem to show any feeling towards him until he said he was the doctor
and yh i agree, thats what i think makes donna special, the way she proved everybody wrong, also the way she was like the doctors best mate and not some lovey dovey pillock whenever she was near him (sorry martha fans but it has to be said....is there any martha fans to apologise to anyway?)
When they first announced Catherine Tate/Donna was going to be his new companion, I was going through Rose withdrawl-my heart was hurting from that whole situation. I hadn't seen Runaway Bride yet & the reviews of Donna were mixed, so I was a little apprehensive about the choice. Then I saw Runaway Bride & i thought she had potentional. What made it work was the fact that she was his friend-I saw some chemistry there, but they never took it that direction & that was perfect.
yh thats exactly what i think, Rose was special but i just think Donna was an incy-wincy bit better because of the way her and the doctor were like best friends, and there was never that little niggle of love, which made it better to concentrate on her and the doctor as individuals not as a pair, like rose/doctor, btw on my channel theres a Donna noble tribute vid (called Keep Holding On) if u could look at that then look at the letter i wrote on the more info section that would explain a lot :)
She was NOT a wannabe or useless >:( And Rose absorbed the Time Voretx to kill The Daleks ONLY not The Daleks & Cybermen; get the facts right before you try to have an argument. HAHA insolent little dick? WTF you should get a life. Seriously.
OMG SHE DID NOT ABSORB THE TIME VORTEX IN DOOMSDAY YOU DUMB IDIOT!! SHE ABSORBED THE TIME VORTEX IN THE 1st SERIES NOT THE 2nd!! GET YOUR FUCKING FACTS RIGHT!!! HAHA ME A RETARD? o_O YOU HAVE GOT SERIOUS PROBELMS YOU FUCKIN NARROW MINDED LOSER :]
River Song will be the companion in the space between two seasons, where the doctor is companionless and he meets River. She won't be in the TV series as a companion.
but what i mean is on the last part of journeys end when the ring seems to flash, that seems to be a clue to me, as if it was an accidental flash they'd have just cut it out the clip or refilmed it, also i have to dissagree with you about martha adding to the show, she sort of added to the hidden meaning and depth to the show, but all she seemed to do was gawp at the doctor and bitch about rose (this is of course missing lots of thing she did out lol)
Why would they go to the trouble of refilming an entire scene or waste money on erasing it with cgi when it will have been a little reflection from a lighting rig. It would be pointless.
because its the most important scene in the entire series, they refilmed the Badwolf beach bit in series 4 something like 5 times untill they got it right, they'd do all that and your saying they would just use cgi to cut that flashing bit out?
and about your other comment wtf? they wouldnt have bothered making her a character at all if they weren't going to do a major storyline around her in a series.
Because it's interesting to see a character that has met the Doctor before, but he hasnt met them. It's a good story, so Steven Moffat would have used it. Why did they create Adam if he was never going to be in it again?
Why are you jumping to conclusions that she will be in it?
The audience wouldn't like to see the Doctor with someone who isn't Rose. Some people would complain.
Just because they create an interesting character doesn't mean they're coming back.
It's science fiction, and its dr.who they bring everyone back at some point, but i highly doubt that donna will be able to travel with him, i think she'll be back just not to travel with him.
people complained when they saw catherine tate was gonna be in it, it didnt stop bbc form putting her in though did it?
River song has to be in it again, as it would be pointless doing all that hype around her (her knowing his name etc.) not to have her in it ever again, it just doesnt make sense.
OMG! thats so ignorant and arrogant, everyone THINKS (aka knows) there right, otherwise they wouldn't bother saying what they said in the first place, and if u couldn't be arsed to argue with me, why did u reply to my comment in the first place? it's not like i'd have just said "yes your completely right im sorry for wasting your time your royal highness" fgs stop being like a little kid.
God, this upsets me more than the ending of Season 2. I hated Donna when we first met her, but I was so happy to be proven wrong as she became more and more fabulous.
I think they should have sent Donna to the parallel world from Silence in the Library, where she was in love with Lee, or whatever his name was. In any case, I agree with those who say she should have been allowed to choose her fate.
shit hey... that's one hell of a tearjerker... In my opinion she's easily the best companion ever. No ones ever been anything remotely liek her, and no one played so well opposite the doctor.
i was absolutly crying my eyes out at how this ended, i cant believe it! i luvd donnas character and i think katherine tate was amazing and showed that a she is more than a fab comedienne she is also an amazing serious actress!!!!!
I hated this ending. I LOVED Donna, she was my fav companion! If she had to go, I would have rather seen her die while saving the universes than her just forget all that she did!! I hope they bring her back!!!
OMG It kills me everytime i watch this, never thought watching dr who would make me cry!!!
It was bad enough when i thought we were going to lose david to regeneration but this has got to be the most deppressing episode by far, beats when he lost Rose at the end of the last one.
This is so heartbreaking..... I love Donna as the companion to the Doctor. I get teary eye everytime I watch this scene, it was to me more sad than Doomsday.

But the Doctor voice was trying not to brake as he know that she was dieing, I am suripced that he did not cry.
Donna noble brought something out from the Doctor, i will never foret her!
SupperMagicDoctor 2 years ago 3
In history, the Doctor rarely cry. He did cry for Rose but it wasn't the same thing - he loved her deeply and she was pretty much all he had after the Time War. When the Master died, he cried for their entire race. I think he cried when au "daughter" died, I'm not sure, but there again, there was this whole "I'm the last of the Time Lord" thing playing on.
supercrono144 2 years ago 2
Eh. I don't think the Doctor loved Rose. The reason he cried was, like you said, that she was all he had. She was his comforter after the Time War.
someone332 2 years ago
Indeed, its how their relationship has begun but yet I like to think that their mutual need for each other has ended up growing into something more. I dont want to start a debate over the true nature of their feelings, though. I just liked their dynamic and some hints in episodes like Satans Pit or even Doomsday. :)
supercrono144 2 years ago
oh my god. this has to be the most heart wrenching scene in the whole DR WHO history. this just proves what an amazing actress she is. this scene is so hard to watch nearly a year later. this really breaks your heart and you really feel for poor donna

One of the best companions and saddest goodbyes ever.
Why do all my favorite companions have the most heartbreaking goodbyes (except Ace who never had one)? Jamie, Tegan, Sarah Jane (when she left 4), and now Donna.
Thank you for uploading this.

I think Donna would have been perfect as the first female Doctor. She's snarky and brilliant. Too bad :(

If so think, there really is a hope in that ring. Just look how it blinked at the end, like specially turning our attention to it.
Anyways this is the only thought that keeps me optimistic - that she will come back again.
No one can replace her! :(
SatinFox2 3 years ago 4
I've only just realised that about the ring until now so you may be right by saying that she might come back again
greginata66 3 years ago
let's get this cleared up people.

Danielakawmd 3 years ago
First off, I'd like to say that I am a Rose fan, a Martha fan, and a Donna fan.
All three added to the richness of the show, all so well written.
When I first heard Donna was coming back, I was worried, didn't think it would work--boy was I wrong! (thank goodness) She won me over very quickly; she is just so down toearth, so real in her reactions.
A poster said this scene breaks their heart into little pieces--yeah. Me too. It's devastating, all her memories gone. That, for me, is the worse.
Lanthiriel 3 years ago 2
I cried like much.
It's so brilliant how Catherine Tate can act like the Doctor for her last minutes. When she's saying 'Oh yes!' etc.
So sad.

My heart breaks into little pieces everytime I watch this-It is worse than Doomsday.
SciFiGirl1977 3 years ago 4
I was so pissed they did this, it such a depressing ending! she was the best companion IMHO and the series was much better for it.
He wasn't mourning over Rose like he was in the previous series and Donna wasn't fawning all over him like Martha or Rose were either, they found a good balance and then go and cock it up!!!
Bex111 3 years ago 2
this scene is brilliantly miserable, i hate russel for making this scene, it breaks my heart although 2bh it is really badly thought out because donna lives in london, with sarah jane martha etc all they'd have to do is say "hi donna seen the doctor lately?" and shes dead, or even just a whisper of doctor or tardis, i mean she cant go her entire life without seeing a doctor can she?, its really badly thought out 2bh, i think she will be back though, and the ring will have something to do with it
flygon666 3 years ago
I agree with you-how will all the Torchwood people know that? I really, really, really hope they bring her back permantley or at least for season 5!
SciFiGirl1977 3 years ago
they wont bring her back for season 5 (river song still has to have her season first) but i think season 6 or 7, although david tennant is quitting after this years 4 specials :'(
flygon666 3 years ago
I heard that to-but I heard DT is on through series 5 & then after that he will go. I also heard rumors they are offering him big bucks to stay...maybe just rumors.
As for River Song, I got the impression she didn't know the doctor in this incarnation. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought she knew him later, when he was older and different Doctor.
As for Donna, at first I was like most fans & was diappointed in her as the choice for his companion, but she turned out to be so perfect 4 him.
SciFiGirl1977 3 years ago
Yh thats what i thought, the way she introduced herself and didnt seem to show any feeling towards him until he said he was the doctor
and yh i agree, thats what i think makes donna special, the way she proved everybody wrong, also the way she was like the doctors best mate and not some lovey dovey pillock whenever she was near him (sorry martha fans but it has to be said....is there any martha fans to apologise to anyway?)
flygon666 3 years ago
Martha Fans? Ha!
SciFiGirl1977 3 years ago
yh thats exactly what i think, Rose was special but i just think Donna was an incy-wincy bit better because of the way her and the doctor were like best friends, and there was never that little niggle of love, which made it better to concentrate on her and the doctor as individuals not as a pair, like rose/doctor, btw on my channel theres a Donna noble tribute vid (called Keep Holding On) if u could look at that then look at the letter i wrote on the more info section that would explain a lot :)
flygon666 3 years ago 2
WTF yhuu on about? Martha rocked >:( Wayyy better than Rose!! Fucking wanker -_- Buh Donna's still teh best =)
no1doctorwhofan4ever 3 years ago
do youhave to make yourself look like an insolent little dick my calling me?
all martha did was moan and try to be like Rose,
she was a wannabe and thats all,
besides the most important thing she did was following up a fullproof plan,
wereas rose absorbed the time vortex and sacrificed herself to kill the cybermen and daleks,
Martha was a stupid ueless cow end of.
flygon666 3 years ago
She was NOT a wannabe or useless >:( And Rose absorbed the Time Voretx to kill The Daleks ONLY not The Daleks & Cybermen; get the facts right before you try to have an argument. HAHA insolent little dick? WTF you should get a life. Seriously.
no1doctorwhofan4ever 3 years ago
right first of all,
i'm sorry rhumer for having to fame over this great video,
She IS a wannabe, she wanted to be Rose, are you too blind to see that?
And she absorbed the time vortex, then she sacrfificed herself killing the daleks and cybermen, didn't you watch doomsday?
and i should get a life?
you insulted me cause i didn't agree with you?
how pathetic are you?
you started with the insults for no reason, now please fuck off and grow up you total retard,

River Song will be the companion in the space between two seasons, where the doctor is companionless and he meets River. She won't be in the TV series as a companion.
screewee128 3 years ago
Hi flygon---
I missed a few eps of this season, still catching up. (Finally saw "partners" last night-wonderful!!
So, I have no clue what you mean about the ring---is there something about it in "unicorn"? Thats one of the stories I have yet to see.
Or am I being a forgetful-ditz-brain? :)
Lanthiriel 3 years ago
the last option lol, joke.
but what i mean is on the last part of journeys end when the ring seems to flash, that seems to be a clue to me, as if it was an accidental flash they'd have just cut it out the clip or refilmed it, also i have to dissagree with you about martha adding to the show, she sort of added to the hidden meaning and depth to the show, but all she seemed to do was gawp at the doctor and bitch about rose (this is of course missing lots of thing she did out lol)
flygon666 3 years ago
Why would they go to the trouble of refilming an entire scene or waste money on erasing it with cgi when it will have been a little reflection from a lighting rig. It would be pointless.
screewee128 3 years ago
because its the most important scene in the entire series, they refilmed the Badwolf beach bit in series 4 something like 5 times untill they got it right, they'd do all that and your saying they would just use cgi to cut that flashing bit out?
and about your other comment wtf? they wouldnt have bothered making her a character at all if they weren't going to do a major storyline around her in a series.
flygon666 3 years ago
Because it's interesting to see a character that has met the Doctor before, but he hasnt met them. It's a good story, so Steven Moffat would have used it. Why did they create Adam if he was never going to be in it again?
Why are you jumping to conclusions that she will be in it?
The audience wouldn't like to see the Doctor with someone who isn't Rose. Some people would complain.
Just because they create an interesting character doesn't mean they're coming back.
screewee128 3 years ago
It's science fiction, and its dr.who they bring everyone back at some point, but i highly doubt that donna will be able to travel with him, i think she'll be back just not to travel with him.
people complained when they saw catherine tate was gonna be in it, it didnt stop bbc form putting her in though did it?
River song has to be in it again, as it would be pointless doing all that hype around her (her knowing his name etc.) not to have her in it ever again, it just doesnt make sense.
flygon666 3 years ago
OMG! oh whatever, I know I'm right, I cba arguing with you. It's SO annoying when you know you're right.
screewee128 3 years ago
OMG! thats so ignorant and arrogant, everyone THINKS (aka knows) there right, otherwise they wouldn't bother saying what they said in the first place, and if u couldn't be arsed to argue with me, why did u reply to my comment in the first place? it's not like i'd have just said "yes your completely right im sorry for wasting your time your royal highness" fgs stop being like a little kid.
flygon666 3 years ago
'The audience wouldn't like to see the Doctor with someone who isn't Rose. Some people would complain.'
