I'm amazed she was even allowed to put this song on her album, let alone perform it on a CHILDREN'S TV program! The subject material is quite daring for its era.

But this is a great performance. Her voice is so beautiful and distinctive, especially live. I really loathe the fact that she seldom performed live.

I know it has been a while. Originally she was meant to sing "In Your Warm Room" but those on high tought it wac too erotic for a kids show. This was the compromise, though how they thought this was appropriate for kids TV at the time I am still at a loss to figure out.

I was struck at how good the sound was in this footage, 32 years after first seeing it. I had at first mistakenly assumed with the lyrics that Kashka was a woman who'd walked out on an arranged marriage - Goodness Gracious Me did a song about arranged marriages later on, done as a take off on 'I Know Him So Well'!

It's really funny how every 6 months some fresh faced university drop-out comes on the music scene and is instantly compared to Kate Bush because they're a little bit left of field. 6 months later, they've either faded into the background or sold their soul.

I'm fairly sure we'll never see another Kate Bush, she was different by very definition and anyone that bases themselves on her in the future will always be just another pale imitation.

Thank you very much for posting this, Symphonyofflowers. I've never seen before. I think it was recorded for U.K. TV programme Ask Aspel, September 5, 1978. Kate was also interviewed but I only read it on gaffaweb. This is one of the few 'real' live performance of Kate. She did many lypsynch because Tv studios didn't have proper equipment for live performance. It's a shame 'cause she got the best voice that I've ever heard. I love her!
