  • His audience seems uncertain where every joke is going until he makes it explicit. Odd because I get where he's headed exactly and agree with everything he said.

  • this guys really good.

  • I suppose that either americans have a different view on nationalism or simply don't understand the true meaning of this term...

  • @RudolphAlder So give us a definition. It sounds to me like it's you who doesn't understand.

  • @WalterLiddy americans will never understand it... no use of explaining.

  • @RudolphAlder try it on a norwegian then

  • @RudolphAlder alright take your time....you must not have a dictionary with you or some shit...

  • I didn't know this guy, but I think he rocks

  • Hahaha... definition of "loser": ordering food at a drive-thru and finding out you have no money.

  • People forget that we had to be sold on the idea of a nation (by using us-and-them categorization), and it took centuries to get us to give enough of a shit about a "country" to actually volunteer to die for one. I'm a veteran but I always saw the bullshit, we rarely fight for worthy causes, more often for someone else's disproportionate gain. These days most of "who we are" is made up bullshit anyway, basically arbitrary or simplistic categories to help us decide how to treat each other, dumb.

  • Most people who bitch about immigrants and taxation DON'T EVEN PAY INCOME TAXES. If you get a refund equal to your with holding, you need to STFU.

  • this is a carlin bit, but i still like it

  • genius

  • I'm a nationalist but this is funny......wrong.....but funny.

  • @theshow2k8 Nationalism is an outdated concept. Our actions, even on a national level have an effect on the entire world. Even retard politicians know that we live in a global society, even if they don't act like it. Work and national productivity are the only things we should hold on to, and once we live in a truly wealthy society we will have the power to bring up the entire world's standard of living. Otherwise we can make Stanhope drink hemlock potion.

  • @MrThefish86

It is only because we live in a peaceful era that you have the luxury of thinking this way. When times are hard people revert to tribalism. By nature people prefer people that look and act the same way as they do. It's an innate part of human nature and nationalism is a reflection of this. It's not going away, fact is it never will.

  • @sneeptheelite That's a copout. Like an infamous Navy SEAL said, "fuck human nature." Humans are animals, but learn most behavior. It is in our nature to categorize, but how these are determined and acted upon is culturally determined. Obviously we all defend ourselves by reflex, but to kill strangers requires ideology, homicide is not natural, it has to be learned (hence boot camp). Categories are subjective: "hard times" (enough to hurt others?), who is or isn't in my "tribe", etc. All change.

  • @theshow2k8 Nationalism was made up by monarchs. Even the oldest nations aren't that old compared to human history. Categories got bigger and stakes higher as population grew in "civilized" areas and there was uneven growth in demand and technology: competition. Elites using ideology to impose social control established a paradigm of constant war between factions that over time became "nations". Someone gets greedy for wealth, status, power and the killing starts. People fight but nations war.

  • I only found out about this guy today - the more videos of him I watch the better he fuckin' gets.

  • You know what chaps my ass barry

  • Watch derick jenson identification

  • "Nationalism does nothing but teach you how to hate people that you've never met, and all of the sudden you take pride in accomplishments you had no part in whatsoever." -Doug Stanhope

  • People also identify with a sports team. "We beat your ass". No, you just watched the fuckin game, you didn't do shit.

  • @ninjajesus81 Oh yeah. That's one I hear a lot, too (who doesn't?) and I point it out on occasion to the person who says it. On occasion being most times, actually. I don't bother when it is someone who I think might not understand.

  • @ninjajesus81 Usually said by an obese guy with a pitcher of beer in his hand wearing an ill-fitting jersey with the name of some D-Bag athlete with a criminal record, who couldn't do a pushup to save himself from castration.

  • @ninjajesus81 yeah, what position did you play? oh, you just drank beer and shouted at the tv.

  • Probably one of my favorites. Amazing application of the stanhope gun! <3

  • Stanhope would deflate so many peoples ego's and self importance. I love how he gives everyone a reality check.

  • @howlbigbadwolf I can't even remember how I found out about him. Love his stuff and happy I did find out about him however it was.
