After reading Caetano Veloso's "Tropical Truth", I strongly beleive the movement deserves, after the documentary, a full lenght film. I'm totally convinced Fernando Meirelles would make a masterpiece if he'd decide to take over all the anecdotes that Veloso, Gal, Gil, Tom Ze and Os mutantes (together with all the movie directors, theater leaders, painters and poets who were part of the whole movement)went through during 67 and 68.
Guys, there are no words that would allow me to express my gratitude towards you for making this documentary. I been a music freak for years and out of all the styles I've become familiarized with, nothing has touched me and inspired me so significantly as Tropicalia. This is the most revolutionary, passionate and vibrant music my ears have ever listened.
Looks Great! I have the tropicalia mix released last year it was stunning, Ive been a fan of Os Mutantes for quite some time now. The film looks like it will justify every important aspect of a wonderful story, so I would not worry.
There was more to Tropicália than Gil and Caetano. Maestro Rogerio Duprat was instrumental to the "weirded out" sound of Tropicália. When Gil and Caetano went on exile, Os Mutantes and the other singer/songwriters carried on with this transformation of music aesthetics.
Finally, neither Caetano nor Gil could be classified as having come from the boonies. They were well-read, both of them were educated.
It will actually chronicle Caetano, Gil, Gal Costa, Tom Ze, and Os Mutantes.Since Duprat passed, we're getting more footage as his involvement, like you said, was instrumental. By no means do we want to imply that they were from the "boonies" but that Bahia was considered more rural that the more industrialized town of Sao Paulo and therefore was grossly underestimated.Thanks sincerely for your feedback.
