hello,i want to ask you how to save a photoshop made picture for websites. When i make it the colour is fine but when i save for web devices, the colour is never saved perfectly,it appears dotted(the colouring),please can you tell me a way to save drawings without its colour ruining?
And this is why it takes 8 hours to fully color in a picture....the flats don't take that long but jeez, this cell shading thing must take FOREVER. I'm tired just thinking about it. -.- -zzZ
Because you layer. You are not actually coloring the same paper. For example say you have your line art. It would be like putting tracing paper over that and coloring in carefully the skin. Then you take another layer and build the shadows - all without going over the lines and bleeding out onto other layers. In the end you would flatten or merge layers into one picture. :) Hope that helps.
Change the "layer mode" of your lineart to "multiply" and place it at the top of your layer stack.
With multiply mode the white areas of that layer will become transparent, allowing you to work on underlying layers, while still maintaining the integrity of the lineart.
YAY! Thank you soo much. I always new you COULD layer, but I never new how. Ugh, it used to take FOR ever to carefully colour in everthing, but now its super easy!
I really like your tutorial. Even though you don't talk, you still provide proper instructions that help! I hate the "tutorials" that don't tell you what they're doing, they just show what they do but yours actually helped me out a lot. Thanks so much! ^_^

@subarustarz Try the "save for web" option, choose save as jpg format and maximum for quality.

an easier way to unlock a layer is to just drag and drop the lock into a the trash can at the bottom of the layers window

I scanned in my pencil drawing, and now i'm stuck in the gray mode. every color I use is a gray value. how do I get out of that?
tonyvandemil 3 years ago
place the mode in RGB mode to get out, i was there as well when i tried to color my art, its twice as hard to change a bitmap into a psd file....
YrUlUKkiNAtM34 3 years ago

Inuyashakagome333 4 years ago
I've heard people use a program called CanStudio, but I've never used it, so I don't know how it works.
waterbender42 4 years ago
I mean CamStudio

Double click on the default layer name (eg. Layer 2, the the layers window next to it's preveiw) and a type box should open in its place
