hey i know how you feel my stepdad put his name to shame i want my mom to go back to her maiden name because of it and although my stepdad changed and im on somewhat good terms with im i still remember what happen and it makes me think but you should forgive the family even if they hurt you dont hold grudges it dont help you in the end trust me man jsut hurts you to hold onto it and its pointless since whatever we do here well still pay for ti later

I am proud of my last name. My family can trace it back to the 1700s. My uncle carried it off to Europe in World War II, and my two sons can be proud of their name. Your name is everything, your ancestors live through you because of your name and your children will carry on that name for generations to come.

yup, my mother kept hers, but it's just easier to change it, especially with kids, so your last name matches theirs. chances are you'll end up being called by your husbands name anyway, unless your insistent, like, my schools assumed we had the same last name, and we just didn't bother correcting them.
