  • that's not Dark Falz.... that's actually 0bama

he turns into that after he has too much gay sex with arab children, worships allah,

and spreads too much of his communism around. *lol*

  • Choose, select, choose, select, choose, select, choose, select, attack, lost 100 points, choose, select, choose, select, choose, select... My God! What a lobotomy! I hate role playing games just for that, it's so boring!

  • @smsuikup Thanks for sharing.

  • why Sega why!?! Why do you only bring good games for Japan and piss off all your foreign customers with bad quality Sonic games, with the exception of a few, but still that's no excuse of not bringing the phantasy star series back in a remake like this!

  • @KingN641994 I suffer with you buddy!

  • @zangetsu2k8 thanks

also by the way can u agree that Phantasy star 1 is the top 5 hardest RPG, and that it's the most underrated RPG. Yah I just want to know.

  • @KingN641994 I Agree !

  • people may not like this but i play psu aoti its pretty good but ive never played any of the other phantasy star games. my question is though how long has dark falz been around?

  • @ifresh75 He was first encountered in phantasy star 1, which chronologically was 2 och 3 thousand years before phantasy star 4. according to le roof or whatever his name was, dark falz emerges into algol every time the seal which binds the darkness weakens, which is once every 1000 years. no hard reference to how long ago algol was created.

  • This looks a lot more palatable than trying to play the original version.

  • How I wish I could read Japanese better :(

  • Although I never played Phantasy Star 1 (Already like it because of its charm) I'm disappointed that the remake doesn't have the Dark Force face. They should have taken Prophallus from PSIV and retranslate it to PSG 1 graphics, since Dark Falz = Prophallus. Looks like the remake is more balanced with Alis having a major damage/stun skill. I still say that Odin = MVP.

  • I think the sms version was WAY more EPIC

  • Magnificent remix of Falz Theme ! o.O

  • Just finished the original one on the Phantasy Star collection GBA game, this battle was hard! 35-40 HP off from 400 each turn and He keeps trying to kill Noah and Odin.... my only damage dealers! -_-'

  • @MonbaraChan I just beat it too, on the Ultimate Genesis Collection. Very tough battle! It took me several tries, as Dark Falz kept killing Myau who kept going last. >=/ I doubt I could have beaten this game as a kid honestly, but I would have loved it.

  • I'd like someone to just post the music of this battle to.

  • There is a fucking talking cat.

  • If you don't mind waiting 10 years we'll get an English version of this...... Via emulator and patched ROMs.

  • it doesnt have the dark falz/force "face", as in ps1, ps2, and psiv. :/

  • These games were released for 2400 yen and picked them up while I was visiting my in-laws. PS1 is great as they added tons of animation and spell effects. PS2 was sorta suck, I loved that the Mega Drive had custom animations for every weapon in the game. If they are going to make a remake, they should do it right. I guess thats what you get for about $30 though.

  • is just me ,or odin is a little more wizard in this version ? hmmmm... anyway is an excellent remake

  • God I would buy this puppy if it was in English :( Legendary game.

  • All I can say is damn Sega for canceling the North American releases of the Phantasy Star remakes. :(

  • Profound darkness

  • You know what I could do here, It's a little far fetched but, For 10 years now I have been making home use Rpgs with the RPG MAKERs that are out there. It would be interesting to make an English version of this using my tools. I wouldn't be able to distribute it though copyrights and stuff. But If I do a video on here might be cool.

  • Which RPG maker do you use?

  • Where can I buy this game? I want it. xD

  • I liked the battle animations, but don't care for the generic style of anime that most modern JRPGs have.

  • @TRexTurtle Wasn't the original style rather generic by 1987 anime standards?

  • Does anyone know if they remade Phantasy Star 4 for PS systems?

  • nope.

    Wish they did, though

  • Nice graphic, nice Soundtrack, but....paralyze? no way.....

Play it on Master System its SOOOOO much better, funniest and hardest than this way......

  • @rdecbascunan Yeah, this bastard was a pain in the ass to beat, and attacks TWICE per turn, usually killing off Myau before Alis. :-(

  • Nice remake, but being able to cause paralysis in Lassic and Drak Falz is pretty lame. The bosses became jokes.

  • completely agree, now way you should be able to paralyze an End Boss in a rpg game.

  • I would so buy this if it were released in the states!

  • Dark Falz is easier than La Shiek here. I fought both at Level 75, without the use of Thunder Storm or any magic other than Warla, Heal and Fleari. It's more difficult that way, I see.

  • No matter how many times in the PS series, Dark Falz/Dark Force/Dulk Fakis will always be reborn, and always be beaten. A tenacious one it is.

  • Don't really like the face on Alis in this remake. Looks nothing like the original art.

  • I wish this and PSG2 wouldb released in the US. The old PS games r better than the new ones. PSU is alrite and all, but i think they threw in a little too much action and strayed too far from wut made the original series amazing! Well hey, at least the new PSs have Dark Force in them too =D

  • 4:12 what the hell, Odin using magic ?!!?!

  • I think that was an item.

  • He was using a crystal; each different crystal casts a different spell. ;)

  • ok thx.

(when will they remix PS3 ? )

  • There are no plans, unfortunately! :(

  • I plan to remix PSIII ;), if you've seen my English PSG1 teaser.

  • Everyone here has a sega master system ???

Good, the time pass so fast...

  • I got a mod chip for my PS2 just to play this remake. I dont remember a spell called *sandstorm* in the original that could tie up Dark Falz.

  • The spell is a part of the new crystal system.

  • why does japan gets the good stuff

  • Noah looks a lot like runes from phantasy star 4

  • I think they're supposed to be reincarnations of the same bloke or something like that.

  • Lutz???

  • Think so. He was only called Noah in the american version of the first game.

  • I see...

  • Wow they sure were calm at 0:05...

  • I hear ya man, if i saw somethin like that, i would run with shit in my pants!

  • I'd wish they'd bring it over to the states. Though I doubt it. It's a great game regardless.

  • 0:32 to 1:10 <3

  • Miau became a giant cat with wings after eating the Laerna nuts so he could fly his comrades to the castle in the sky. Centuries later, in Phantasy Star 4, Miau descendant is also a giant cat. I assumed that Miau stayed large, and winged, as a permanent effect from the nuts, and so he could fly his friends to and from the castle before and after the final fight.

So why is Miau normal-sized for this battle? Story plothole, maybe?

  • It's not permanent.

  • Okay, that I could buy, but why is Myau's descendant so huge in Phantasy Star 4? I just would have liked ot have seen that part explained a little better.

  • I believe that in PSIV, the obvious intent is that the Old Man as the other musk cats call him...IS Myau. Thats why he says he feels somethign familiar about you when you meet him. He's remembering his time with Noah (Lutz) and Alys from long ago.

  • It's been awhile since I read the dialogue, and I did forget some of the story... I guess it could be Myau if he lived for many hundreds of years, but I keep going back to the size issue...how does Myau go from big after eating the Laerna Nut, to small for the first dark force battle, to big again all those years later? I may be reading too much into this, I just think it's weird. :-)

  • I'm pretty sure the cat on Dezolis in PSIV is Myau, and the reason why he's so big is that he's been eating the Laerma nuts as food (since they grow on Dezolis). I'm almost certain that that's the explanation that's given.

  • Ohhhh, now that part I'd forgotten! I couldn't remember where Alis and company had gotten the first batch of Laerna nuts in Phantasy Star 1. Thanks! :-)

  • I love the theme.

  • this would be perfect for xbla/psn

  • I like this remake. It makes it so that it matches the others at least. Even thought there is probley no re-release of 3 and 4. But the graphics are updated from 8 bit. I am hsppy about that.

  • Same here.

Oh it's supposed to be Dark Force like it is in 2 and 3, not Dark Falz, the Dark Falz thing was a translation error.

  • Actually, in the Japanese versions, it is translated to 'Dark Phallus'. It is often romanized as 'Dark Falz'. 'Dark Force' is a term only ever used in the english versions of PSII, PSIII and PSIV. It does not exist in the Japanese versions.

  • Oh..and I always thought it was a mistake in the english translation which was common in Jrpgs of that era. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • How I wish there was an english version of this game :(

  • Will there ever be an English version of this!?

  • I doubt it :(

  • Is the Play Station 2 version THE SAME as the original? I'm thinking of buying it, but i want it to be as good as the first.

Did they censor and change anything?

  • The original game didn't show your characters in battle, you only saw their attacks, this is an upgrade from the original in my opinion, I hope they bring this over to the states

  • It's quite different to the original, but retains the storyline, events, items etc of the original game.

  • @microblan

This one's a bit different. The Phantasy Star 2 remake is pretty much exactly the same except that the three useless characters you never use gain XP. And you can turn off the annoying overhead pipes/fog/whatever. There's some balance changes - Rudo is faster, Amy has better weapons, Nei doesn't die if you fulfill an insane degree of requirements, et al.

  • Wow... Odin is totally ballin' in this game from the looks of things...

  • Hey, do any of the Phantasy Stars ever explain just what Dark Falz is, and where it came from? (No spoilers, just a yes-or-no answer)

  • Yes, play through PS EotM(IV) to completion and you will find out precisely why Falz came into existence... ^_^

  • Wonderful--I have to play the one Phantasy Star I DON'T have! I have PSI, II, and III on the GBA compilation. Now I have to get Sega Collections...if I can find it!

  • If you can't then just play an emulated version. Simple enough :B

  • The part that explains the occurance of Dark Falz will also offer an explanation why Dark Force is so different between two and three. So, yes, there is a surprisingly logical explanation for Dark Force being so different.

  • I still say the original looks better. Dark force looks plain goofy in this.

  • Is it just me or does Dark Falz look much easier in this version? BTW, I found a petition to have this released in US. Look it up on Yahoo! to find it.

  • There's definitely loop-holes in this version to make Dark Falz easier. ;)

  • @Kojain I would totally sign it. I love this game!

  • In my version, Dark Force'll become Darkness Force.

  • yep.

  • I was unable to experience this game back when it was released. It's so damn infuriating that it's been remade and I can't play it. I've played the lionshare of Phantasy Star games but never got a chance to play this.

Looks like a solid game, for now I'm content knowing that the creators took another crack at this game, brilliant stuff :)

  • You're right, BuyMeThingsNow. I really should try to watch what I say around here.

  • darkfalz in ps1 for sms is more cooler than the remaked one. i hate this darkfalz the design is ugly and ruscky! iack!

  • i dont get why the changed the design, i think the other one looks more imposeing and theating.

  • I'm thumbing you down. Sorry, but saying platformers suck is no better than saying all Jrpgs suck. Nothing more than a retarted steriotype.

  • sweet where can i find this version?

  • In Japan.

  • Wow...this looks awesome. I don't usually like remakes of older RPGs (like FF1 -> Origins), but this looks like it manages to do what the others can't: keep the spirit of the original.

  • Wow, I remember playing the original Dark Falz (Dark Force) in the original first one. The battle totally took me by surprise back then. This remake of the final boss is incredible looking! Really have to play this version.

  • the music is fantastic!

  • Seeing Dark Phallus performing "double slash skill" makes me wonder if the 'genocide claw' we got from the zombie Air Castle in PSIV wasn't actually his arm.

  • Those Paralyze effects kinda fuck up the difficulty/balance of the games don't they Mimi?

  • That they do! ;)

  • Hey I just thought I'd say I finished the first game today, it was fun and after I break for a while I'll continue on with Phantasy Stat 2.

After finishing it I wish Sega had put their full effort into the remakes.

I'd say the toughest dungeon in the game was Baya Maly Tower.

  • I love the music, I wish it could of been like this in the original, even if that is impossible...

  • In Generation 1, Myau is by far the cheeriest in the party, even moreso than Alis. He only ever really gets angry a few times, such as when confronting Dr. Mad. He doesn't get too phased by fighting enemies otherwise.

  • Myau looked happy before the fight for some reason.

  • His face design was better in the original.

  • phantasy star universe's dark falz is just mockery

  • The DarkFalz in the original Phantasy Star 1 looks better, plus it is my favorite design of DarkFalz. I am also disappointed that he doesn't shoot lightning out of his mouth.

  • Yep, the original Dark Falz still holds his place as one of the scariest final bosses ever.

(But I still prefer his 3rd form in PS4, too cool for words)

  • actually it looks bigger and more dangerous in this version. but ya I feel PSII and PSIV have the best Dark Forces. but this one is cool too.

  • Wow, WTF is this? They changed its look o_O;;...Um...No comment, just...WOW.

  • Yeah seriously WTF IS THIS?! Why did they have to change the look? I mean, seriously...

  • They just wanted to share their artistic ideas I suppose. Used their own style a bit. They did use the same basic formula they just made slight cosmetic changes they thought would be cool. Don't get me wrong I thought the original was pretty creepy. But they got the canvas now, so let them have a little fun. It doesn't look that bad really.

  • i want to play this remake sooooooo bad!!! phantasy star is arguably one of the best games made!! dark falz looks rock/shell like...different but at the same time AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • Dark Falz is basic ally Dark Force from 2-3-4

  • Of course he is. They are all of a single mind and can be multiplied at will. Thats what makes 4 so great. The origin of all the demonic life. Phantasy Star just rules.

  • "...[Dark Force/Falz] are all of a single mind and can be multiplied at will. Thats what makes 4 so great. The origin of all the demonic life. Phantasy Star just rules. "

    YES.

Meeting this unholy b@st@rd in Garuberk Tower was frightening.

    Never forget:

Wherever there is evil in the universe, there will be a Dark Force behind it...

  • mrjohntalbain: What you said reminded me of something, a quote from some issue of

Game Player's magazine (don't remember what issue) that previewed Phantasy Star III:

"You will learn the name of the awesome weapon that can destroy the evil Dark Force forever"

  • Awesome! Elysdeon!

  • Dark Falz looks helluva lot easier in this one.

  • The abilities available (Thunderstorm to be precise) make every battle in the game a lot easier.

  • *Openeed the door*

    Alyssa: Ack!

    Tyrone: What is this thing!?

Lutz: I sense an immense evil eminating from it!

Myau: Tyrone, Has this thing been controlling the governor of Motavia?

Tyrone: It can't be... Ugh! It's coming!

  • I might consider using that dialog in my version, but it would be slightly changed to keep with the name updates & that Hazzby (who's role'll be expanded to that of a real party member) instead says "What is this thing".

  • And another thing I don't like about this version of Dark Force is that he doesn't attack the heroes "twice" at full power then only "once" at half power, like the original PS1 version did. That was half the fun and frustration right there!

  • I agree with that. But there is one thing I link about the new one compared to the original. This new monster actually uses his large claws to attack poor Alis and her gang. Ouch! Nevertheless, the original design from PS1-PS4 is captures the true spirit of this favorite villian of mine.

  • I didn't like the remake version of Dark Force. Compared to its incarnation from the original Phantasy Star, which was more menacing and sinister, this one looks... weird looking. Not to mention boring.

  • To peegai2: Same here, I agree, The original Phantasy Star

(1987 Sega Mark III, 1988 Sega Master System) had a much scarier, more evil-looking, more menacing, more demonic-looking Dark Force, which for the time was really fucking cool.

  • I whole-heartedly agree, turbografx!! Dark Falz is my FAVORITE monster ever!! While there are other cool monsters, NO monster is as awesome to me as Dark Falz. The original Sega Mark III form is my favorite design, which is STILL cool in my book.
