I just read an article on Chicken Soup for the Soul about this song. I couldn't remember it so I came to YouTube to get a listen. In the article Barry Manilow said this song came to him in a dream. When he woke up from it, he got up immediately, afraid he would forget it and went to his cassette recorder and in his husky morning voice sang it then went back to bed. When he got up he almost forgot that he had done that. Wish I could be a songwriter in my dreams instead of always nightmares!
For those who are fans of this song, the a capella group "Straight NO Chaser have re-recorded it, and Barry actually sang lead on it. I feel that their version really personifies what the song says, as there are NO instruments, just 11 guys coming together as "One Voice". The ending on it is as lush as ever.
