It was about '71 when John Peel mentioned the Faces and I bought First Steps - Up around the plinth - WOW! And although Rod was at his best with the Faces, he is still is No1
Bugger, I realise that this means that I have around too long. Tim
Say Rod, how did it feel when Mick Jagger took Ron Wood from you so that he could be a Rolling Stone? I guess this tune got prophetic on you, didn't it Rod? Hell of a thing.
@kja427 But weren`t The Faces already busted up at that time? That woulda left Wood a free agent, to do as he damn well pleased. And Rod would just keep up the solo stuff. No music major or nothin like that, just sayin......
@elainejamie No, I don't think so. Carmine didn't join Rod's band until after this was recorded and the Faces had broken up. The Faces played this live and it came from Rod's 1971 album that gave him his first big hit 'Maggie May'.
Thanks for posting this, but, you should include the name of Kenny Jones who plays the drums on this track, and does the drum solo. It wasn't Mickey Waller playing on this track.
Great song, but not so great if you're insecure in a bad relationship still clinging on.. here's a hint.. just let it go..It aint worth the tears and heartache..

When you talk about Faces, you talk about Ronnie Lane, Ron Wood, and Rod Stewart. Just may be the BEST rock and roll band of our generation.

no matter how you cut it when Rod sings you know it- he's just better with Ron Wood by his side-
