We have a "Mini-Coonhound" that looks almost identical to yours and her name is Maggie too! Incredibly, we also have a Phoebe, but she's a Foxhound/Husky mix but they play like sisters. Love your video.
Thanks for the private email Showpup and to others who read all the threads, what this owner of Maggie explained to me was that black and tan coloured dogs can come out of two purebred redbones being bred....not a Black and Tan Coonhound Dog (another breed of dog.) Sure hope this helps other readers. It is a throwback of previous redbone coloring. Thanks for the learning lesson showpup:))
Why would my previous comment be regarded as a neg comment? It was not directed at the above video. What was meant is that if a female gets bred with different breeds she will have crosses. RBxRB or B&TxB&T you get purebreds. When I said professional breeders I meant people that breed and show Purebred dogs in for example the AKC, CKC, UK, or other National Kennel Clubs. My comment was 4Dasbones665 referring to the B&T he got from a RB litter. Obvious the bitch was bred to more than 1 breed.
Actually, 4Dashbones665 could be referring to a purebred redbone. There ARE black and tan puppies born to registered, purebred and even DNA'd REDBONES. This is just a wrong color throwback to the redbones ancestors. Redbones were not always purely red, it was something the long-ago breeders strived for in the breed. And the name isn't for their color, it was from an Indian Legend.
hmmm yah very interesting about getting a b/tan out of a redbone litter. If Mom was mated with a redbone then accidently also with a b/t coonhound it would still be a cross mix. I heard that females when bred to other types of males can have eggs that take thus getting different dogs in a litter. Professional breeders do not let this happen but on occasion accidents do happen sadly.
Greedy breeders also breed til those sickly pups are put down.I'm sure they love money more than Dogs. Our Tree walker Black and tan mix was on his way to a kill shelter. Now he is our buddy.
Got any pics/vids of her? All my years of redbones, I haven't gotten a b/t one yet. Sadly, most breeders will put them down since they aren't 'desirable' but I'd love to see one from a red litter.
how old is maggie in this video? we have a 5 1/2 month old black and tan...looks darn near identical! if you look @ my profile u can watch a vid of her in the bathtub. ours seems to have bigger ears i think.. we woulda liked to show her akc but missed the deadline to register her by 2 months. she has champ ukc lines though. id like to see clearer pics/vids of your dog.
