  • Morecambe and Wisdom.

  • I'm an American and I remember seeing an episode or two of M&W on the local PBS station as a kid. Since rediscovering Eric & Ernie here on YouTube I just can't get enough of them!

  • Good strong, positive drinking. So true, so true.

  • does anyone know the piano chords

  • This never fails to put a smile on my face : )

"this crazy world WHAT we live in!"- classic Eric and Ernie : )

  • when me and my best mate fell out, all I did was listen to this for days! It really cheers you up! :D LOVE YOU TWO!

    R.I.P xxx

  • in bussiness i sing this song when times are tough and it works

  • Also....5 people are utter trolls. How can you dislike a cheerful song sung by two people who ooze happiness???

  • When I feel down, I just play this until I'm cheery again (normally after a single play through) :D Just doing the their Groucho dance a little bit is a brilliant way to make those blues disappear. You might look silly if you do it in the street, but what a small price to pay to return to a state of happiness :)

  • Great stuff. Watching this cheers up any down mood you might have!

  • Superb. Great song, delivered in style by the guvnors. You can't help but raise a smile!

  • Always prefered this ending over bring me sunshine, poss because BMS was used so much that a change is sometimes as good as a rest.

  • @geronimojordann this is their famous "Groucho" dance. Groucho Marx did a similar dance in one of the marx Brotheres films. Their producer John Ammonds saw it, showed Eric and Ernie, they loved it and incorporated it into their shows. It`s the only end dance they did, but they didn`t always do it exactly the same!

  • There was another show ending they did when Eric Morecambe did a similar dance to that off, but that's not quite it... Any ideas?? :D

  • Best Ending tune!

  • @theawakener7 exactly what I was thinking

  • @theawakener7 I'm torn between this and "Always look on the bright side of life".

  • OMG thats cnt believe thts them at 1:34!!! awwww :)

  • Jolly Good Show

  • Much as I love this song, spring is my least favorite season. Can I treat every season as summer instead? =D

  • One of those catchy pieces of fluff that lighten your heart -- like Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, and Gingerbread Man, and of course Bring Me Sunshine!

  • Total class, they were the best, I do miss their show there is nothing that comes close to it.

  • just split up with my girlfriend and this song is helping a lot

  • CLASSIC BRILLIANT TIMELESS

  • 5 people are numpties

  • Just had the worst day and this one song has managed to cheer me up in seconds :) thank you Eric and Ernie :) your genius lives on.

  • The 76 christmas show was show on TV at the New Year, it was hilarious. It's the first I've seen of M and W but now I can catch up on YouTube.

  • @angloswisslad I`m almost jealous of you for all the fun you have ahead of you!

  • @angloswisslad me too!

  • @angloswisslad Same here :) I watched the '77 one as well on bbc iplayer

  • Oh, and I once saw M & W live as a kid. Totally clean - just a little inuendo, and hilarious. Live, they were even better than on TV, because although the show was carefully rehearsed, they were also experts (especially Eric) at ad-libbing and playing the audience. Wonderful.

  • BR - I totally agree! Others are 'old school' like Ken Dodd - whose shows immediately sell out, and who is on stage for 6+ hours without a swear word - or other old timers like Cannon and Ball. Sadly there are those who, when on TV (Like Lee Mack in 'Not Going Out'), are clean and yet hilarious, but when on stage live they are obscene. Unlike Doddy, Ive not see MM.live. I just hope that when he has a live audience he doesn't stoop to offensive obscenity to try to be funny... he doesn't have to!

  • This is my favourite Morecambe and Wise song-it's lovely, reassuring and so true.

  • What a pleasant change from the unfunny offensive venom of so many of today's so-called 'comedians' (eg, Frankie Boyle, Chubby Brown). M & W prove that you don't have to resort to bad language or offence to make people laugh. How many comedians today can boast Christmas audience of 28 million and more? With the exception of perhaps Laurel and Hardy, M and W were the greatest double act the world has ever seen. More than that, their life-long friendship and stable family life shines through.

  • @MrJayguess Probably only one and that's Michael Mcintyre. He's hilarious and proves that bad language is not the answer when it comes to comedy. The things he says are so true.

  • We'll never see their like again.

  • 5 people need to try positive thinking

  • Fantastic! I suffer from bipolar and everytime I start going down Im on here listening to this and Bring Me Sunshine and it always brings a smile to my face.

R.I.P you'll never be forgotten OR replaced

  • Oh yes.....Now that's just perfection, The song and the completely insane hornpipe dance walk that they both made so famous, words just cannot express how wonderful they were and indeed still are.today.

My earliest memory as a little lad was watching these two on tv sat with my mum n dad in the 70s

God bless you Eric and ernie, i miss you guys so much

  • What do you think of it so far?

  • I LOVE how they always seem to be just on the edge of laughter as they sing - makes it sooo genuine sounding!

  • Yep,you're right,this tends to bring a smile to my face...Cheers!

  • Where is our generations Morecambe and wise? Big boots to fill sure but surely someone somewhere is good enough!!

  • I love this song and always preferred it to Bring Me Sunshine - although that is excellent too! I can't believe that you have had negative and offensive comments about this video. If people don't like it then they don't have to watch it. I LOVE it and it always makes me feel positive and happy. Thanks for making it available.

  • luv this so much...xxoxoxYOda

  • THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER COMIDAY DUO LIKE MORCAMBE AND WISE...... I JUST HAD TO LOOK AT ERIC MORECAMBE AND I WOULD BE IN STITCHES.

  • Brilliant! & Jessie 144000? Get a life.

  • LEGENDS!

  • What a cheerful tune!

  • i love these guys, what legends!!

  • And now I FINALLY find out who wrote it after all of these years!! Thank you!

  • I still absolutely adore them and I always will!

  • u dont get a duo like this anymore...its all pish tv, this is awsum :)))

  • *ARSENAL*

  • haha some idiot has put a thumbs down on that

obviously dont know their stuff on morecambe and wise

  • i love this song.

btw is it really elton john at the end of this video??

  • Yes. He was a guest on the Christmas show that year - I think he sang Sorry seems to be the hardest word, which was his current single. He also appeared on the 1977 Christmas show.

  • Cheery little song. Some choreography

    would be nice too.

  • pure class

  • This is Eric and Ernie at their classic best.

Like this topic see the dtvlearning positive thinking videos.

Will Smith (Actor) and Larry KIng (CNN) believe in positive thinking, did they get the idea fom Eric and Ernie?

  • @felixnoirchet WHAT ????

  • Please did anyone find the sheet music for this song ...brilliant

  • the minute life gets me down you know what i do?...... i go to youtube type in Morecambe and Wise (just like i have done now) and watch some random clip of the most hilarious, inspiring two people that the world has ever had the privelage of beholding.... and you know what, i'm smiling before the clip even starts. Thank you Eric and Ernie, you will live on forever.

  • Well said my friend, I do the same

  • I'm just the same. They are sure to cheer me up. Need a Eric and Ernie fix sometimes

  • @FunnyThingy i do the exact same thing. only people guarented to cheer me up.

  • @FunnyThingy So do I! I have saved lots of their sketches to simply click onto and I'm laughing in no time. Morecambe and Wise - they are a masterclass in real comedy with that added ingredient. WARMTH!

  • so so cute.

  • Wiv all the comedy duo's there have been, none will EVA beat these 2!!!!! Best eva these awesome guys r!!!! I just cnt stop laughin when i watch em!!! xxx

  • absolute comedy legends

    wish they were still around

  • Morecambe and Wise were absolutely hilarious! Classic comedy is better than modern comedy by far.

  • Positive Drinking. Good advice.

  • These fellas knew how to be funny, really funny, without the swearing and the arrogance. They will be forever remembered for their magnificent writing skills and for their talented performances both on stage and on screen. One of the best comedy duos ever, thanks for posting

  • Oh, and one more thing, is that M & W much younger at 1:30?

  • "Crazy world WHAT we live in" Lol pure genius.

  • Timeless comedy

  • Morecombe & Wise were pure comedy gold, as funny today as they were then!

  • These guys had been and gone before i was even born, but they are just the Kings of Comedy, nobody can beat them! Favourite double act ever! Comedy today is pathetic compared with these icons! Morecambe and Wise are Gods!

  • hey does anyone know where i can find the chords for this??

  • brill video mate a big salute from us here at singleimagetoys in devon

  • great post do you know if this is the full song? if not who is the original singer?

  • I remember the 1976 Christmas show well. Happy memories.

  • does anyone know if you can get an instrumental version of this please?

  • Comment removed

  • I love these blokes...you always knew it was christmas when you saw the specials on TV. God I miss the laffs. I saw a documentry on sky about them so have gone and bought the dvds of the christmas shows..PURE CLASS!!! A PAIR OF COMIC GENIUSES ON A PAR WITH 2 RONNIES!!

  • This Morecombe & Wise tune always makes me smile. Makes me feel optimistic about life.

Too much cynicism around today I think - time for a break.

    Excellent. Thanks for posting.

  • @STEELE2211 "Too much cynicism around today i think - time for a break"

forget just a break, let's try a lifetime

  • love it

  • I love this song because its hardly ever heard in their shows. They always manage to cheer me up when I need it. Thay are sadly missed

  • makes me want to go back

  • vic and bob with talent......

  • LOL! how true...walliams and lucas could learn a thing or to about charm too

  • I love Morcambe and Wise, and all these years on, their shows are still brilliant. Clean, fun humour and the two worked so well together.

Lucky old me, my grandfather was the spit and image of Eric Morcambe, making my childhood epic. Thanks for uploading - I love this song ^^

  • this is, like, totally my ethos

  • Why this one and not bring me sunshine? Not that i'm complaining this is great!

  • You`ll find Bring Me Sunshine elsewhere.

(Incidentally, I have just been through the comments and weeded out the offensive ones. If there are any others which I don`t see, please send me a message).

  • @GrandiaKnight Bring me sunshine was brilliant but ya know so is this. Listening to the words, it says it all cos positive thinking does get you through. I think these were well ahead of their time! and why don't we see more uplifting stuff on TV now adays like this? Ok X-factor hightlight on Sat night but these were class X

  • @GrandiaKnight I believe this was the B-side of BMS, when the single was released in 1968, so they performed this on telly sometimes for a change

  • Love this song, loved it when younger! Reminded of it because of the Passat advert.

  • I have this vid saved to my favorites, I come and watch it whenever I need a lift :) You cannot beat Eric and Ern!

  • Yes ford u r right. Nobody can beat Eric n Ern. In the olden days........the likes of Morecambe and Wise could dance, sing and make us laugh unlike today were they just stand up and tell jokes.

  • the origional ant and dec hahahaha

  • Yes I think Ant and Dec are a modern version. They do seem to have a chemistry like M&W. But the 70's was a golden age for Saturday night T.V. Will it ever happen again? I dunno.

  • does anyone know the guitar chords to this?

  • i've been looking everywhere for them!!!! cant find them anywhere!.

  • It remind me a bit of 'always look on the brgiht side of life'. Great tune.

  • Know what you mean. I only found it by accident lol

  • Been racking my brains about where I'd heard that song before the advert, knew it had something to do with my youth!

  • Thank goodness tight fisted money grabbing Delfont had nothing to do with it.

  • Now they are using this song for a car advert! Brilliant, all the old songs are the best ones!

  • Feeling down? This makes it better :)

  • An important message in this song for everyone!! Good old Morecambe and Wise!!

  • can't beat morecambe and wise there will never be anyone like em again god bless em .

  • Just the best !!

  • ....and life is better. This is just genius - end of.

  • I am saddened by some of the negative comments made here. Morecambe and Wise were quite simply the best there has ever been!! We shall not see their like again. Keep a lookout for clips of "Bring Me Sunshine" the Morecambe and Wise tribute show coming soon to YOUTUBE. These guys , who happen to be friends of mine , are spookily close to the real thing!! They are keeping the magic of Eric and Ernie alive. Never mind the credit crunch , this countries biggest debt is to Morecambe and Wise.

  • This is absolutely lovely. Thank you for posting this. It makes me smile. Good old positive thinking :)

  • i just love these two wish they were still with us

  • Brings a tear to the eye and takes me back to my childhood days

  • anywhere i cant download that song??? i managed to get 'bring me sunshine' but this song as just as good....

totally luv morecambe and wise...miss 'em guys....but thanks to dvds i get to see them

  • Itunes! its got morecambe and wise radio (audiobooks) shows too! its brillaint agree with u!

    x x

  • Absolute class - no need for any other comment

  • I'm a huge morecambe and wise fan,and to me they're a class apart from anything else,to me they're the greatest of the great :)

  • never did anything to upset anything not like a certain Mr Ross or Clarkson, this song is so right, shame they went to Itv

  • I smile whenever i watch Morcambe and Wise, its just so heart warming, and this song is no exception

  • Epitome of pure brilliance

  • "In September 2006, they were voted by the general public as number 2 in a poll of TV's Greatest Stars"

Considering they last performed in 1984 when Eric died, that must show how much they're still loved!

  • why weren't they no. 1?!?

    .x.

  • If you want to understand the British, watch a few episodes of the Morecambe and Wise show and it'll give you an interesting insight.

These guys were our best ever double act,and maybe our very best comedy act. They were greatly loved and admired and incredibly popular.[25 million viewers at Xmas...half the country!] Sadly it seems their comedy did not translate too well outside the UK,except maybe Eire,Oz and NZ.

  • They certainly had a following in New Zealand during the 1960s and 1970s. Not so in Canada where I live. Mind you, we had a comedy variety series called Wayne and Shuster featuring very similar humour. Also, two ex-pat Englishmen living in Montreal have a comedy musical show called Bowser and Blue which has received somewhat of a following, including the Just for Laughs Festival. Morecambe and Wise is one comedy act, in my opinion, which has withstood the test of time!

  • Comedy has changed from how it was back then, now comedians have to swear nd be extremely rude to get laughs, back then, the real comedians lived, the ones that made people laugh by stepping on stage, just like Eric did!

    R.I.P Eric 'n' Ern.

  • Was that Angela Rippon at the beginning of the clip?

  • Yes.

  • That clip with Angela Rippon is one of the all-time classics with Morecambe and Wise. So is the Singing in the Rain sketch, also from that same Christmas special. Today being Christmas I'm certain the BBC is showing Morecambe and Wise in some capacity.

  • You can get this on itunes. I promise you if you put this on your ipod and play it as you are going to work it honestly sets you up for a great day. Even with a hangover!

  • Your about as dumb as they come. In 1977 over 28 million tuned in to there show. I doubt your talent would fill a phone box.

  • Absolute star quality. Nothing like them since.

  • How many of "Todays" comedians can make an audience laugh hysterically by simply peeling a banana and saying nothing??? Eric did it and I still howl with laughter when he does it and it shows that to make so many people laugh you don't need profanities.

    RIP Eric and little Ern

  • 1. They probably weren't.

    2. So what if they were? I happen to know a couple of homosexual people and they're good, nice people. Calling someone gay doesn't mean they're a freak.

  • Morecombe and Wise were classic comedians icons, I grew up watching them back home in the U.K. and to this day they are timeless, and to the person who said they were gay, if you mean that they were happy and light hearted and brought joy to be others with their humour Amen! but if you're being ignorant you are in your own sad world and I feel extreme remorse for you, if your life is sad try and make it a little sweeter.

  • i don't care if they where guy or not they where good in what they did

  • how were they gay?

they were both happily married, Eric with 3 children.

how do you have the right to say this about two STRAIGHT legendry men.

are you uncomfortable with your life, so you have to judge those that had made their life full of happiness?

    Think about it franck875

  • People who think calling someone gay is the ultimate insult really are pretty tragic. However, they weren`t go, and shouldn`t be referred to in the present tense, sadly. I`m going to keep a close eye on the comments here from now on, and any more trouble-makers will be reported immediately.

  • even comedians of today could never match the comedic flair of our eric and ern, even after eric died, ern did some shows of his own that sadly failed due to ern looking so lost without eric,he did not want to continue and slipped toward retirement til the day he...met eric again

  • thank you ddaawnn55 for the comment back, =], an i must say your comment just now, is truely touching specily at the end when Ern meets Eric again..., the point is that comedy has changed from how it was back then, now comedians have to swear nd be extremely rude to get laughs, back then, the real comedians lived, the ones that made people laugh by stepping on stage, just like Eric did!

    R.I.P Eric 'n' Ern.

  • Indeed. Rest in peace.

I do agree that comedy's gone severely downhill, but there are still some good laughs out there, ones who don't have to descend to gutter humour.

  • vic reeaves and bob mortimer mimicking with tom jones was insulting to the memory of our eric an ern,

  • They are huge fans of eric & ernie & certainly didn't do it with any malice x

  • I love this song and I love british comedy!

  • 87SaL87, I suppose you meant to say that Vic Reeves reminds you of Eric Morecambe, and not the other way round. Reeves entire act was inspired by Morecambe, I'm sure he's acknowledged that many times himself. Morecambe and Wise, irreplaceable and utterly special. Made the world a better, funnier place to live in.

  • I very much agree with all you've said, but of course the way round you say it does entirely depend on which act you've personally seen first. For example, on watching the start of this clip, I was instantly reminded of Vic & Bob's 'Smell Of Reeves And Mortimer' series. I do understand and realise that these two came earlier, but having personally seen Smell Of first, that is the way round I was reminded, and thus is the way that I would write it down. ^__^

  • why no "following you around" 1972 ???

  • thses men are so special...its sad to think you can never replace them...

It just shows people can get a good laugh without Swearing, and going OTT.

  • These two men brought sunshine to everyones life for generations! what sunshine will be brought to the world now?? Exactly none! The best comedy duo this country has ever seen!

R.I.P Guys, and when the sun shines we all know its you!

  • beautifully well said,kayleigh13

  • They brought so much happiness and laughter into the world why knock them idiot

  • God, why does Eric always remind me of Vic Reeves? lol x

  • I mean that in a GOOD way, Vic is lovely x

  • I find that really digusting...

  • oh your use of vocabulary amazes me and it hurts so much.... if you cant think of anything constructive to say dont say it

  • HEY people dont like? dont watch

AND dont bother expressing yourself if all you can think to come out of you mouth is a load of bull

    Dont ok?

  • If a person was to dislike a video and its contents, surely he or she could find a way to express their opinion in a manner that doesnt entail the rest of the worls thinking that they are a complete and utter fool.

Also, why is it that narrow minded idiots always seem to go down the homophobia route when they want to rattle cages?

Just a couple of thoughts there...

    x

  • they were straight, had wives etc. and even if the case was that they were gay- this would be a problem how?
