Thanks for the comments. You are right, I don't know how the tube works in my amp. I just know my amp now seems to sound better with the tube change..... or maybe my ears are playing tricks on me.
... Why would you change the tube in a VT series? It's pointless. I have a VOX VT50 and an AC30. the VT50 i've had for 2 years now and still sounds GOOD. same goes for my AC30, and you're supposed to change the tubes on an AC series a bit often.
Do you know how the tubes in a VT series works? The amp doesn't use it solely to establish tone. So you don't really have to change it. in other words, it isn't a REAL tube amp. Waist of money for you, on that new tube.
The tube in the amp was the original one. The tech at guitar center assured me that any brand of 12AX7 would do so MESA it was. I don't know if the VT+ series has an 12AX7 in it (I would assume so) but changing the tube should be as easy regardless the type.
Nice video, you made it really easy to follow. I hope you're happy with your tone now. I wonder, did it come stock with a EHX tube, or did you placed it there yourself during some previous change?
Yes it does, The sound and distortion levels went back to what they were when the amp was new. Again, tubes decay at a slow rate and it becomes sometime difficult to distinguish the difference without a base for comparisson. In any case, when in doubt, change the tube. They are cheap and easy to change.
I was wondering what the inside of that amp looked like.
