thanks for the video how-to. I'm shipping a medium sized painting I found in a storage locker at an auction. This helped me get the idea for how to ship.
One last thing, Fedex website specifies that "To prevent delays, your shipment must have the following customs documents attached: Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin, Shipper's Export Declaration". Are all those documents really necessary?
@scopein79 No, I prefer FedEx because it is usually much cheaper than UPS. I can't remember the name of the document that I had to fill out for foreign shipments, but you also have to fill one out at the US Postal Service office. It has to do with customs or something....I just filled one out about 3 weeks ago, but already forgot what it was called. Sorry.
Hello, UPS tell me they can't insure the paintings I want to ship!! Maybe I could I tell them this is not what is in the crates, that it is whatever else that's long, wide and flat. They told me that if they check the packages and find out it is finally paintings... then I would lost my insurance. Please tell me what you know about shipping services (which one you use and for what reason) and insurances.
Thanks for the lovely tutorial. It's really clear and easy to follow. I have a couple questions about the shipping: do you insure your artwork when you send it? And if you send smaller artwork, like prints, would you send that by normal mail or still stick with FedEx?
Glad it helped you! Yes, I insure the artwork. I think FedEx charges $1 for every $100....something like that.
On the smaller packages, I will use USPS....depends upon which method is less expensive. I'm always thrifty when I can be....need more money to buy art supplies!
LOL! I should have gotten a manicure for this one, eh? I certainly didn't have my camera positioned correctly. I'm not a videographer, that's for sure......

@scopein79 Foreign shipments require one additional document....at least that is all that I have ever had to fill out.

@debcoart Thank for the infos! What was that document? A paper the shipping services made you fill out? Are you always going with UPS?
