As much as i enjoy their new stuff and their gigs including the two extra keys, i do miss watching them just as a two piece. Tracks like thickfreakness, hard row, ten am automatic, stack shot billy, act nice and gentle etc. The Black Keys are hands down one of the best bands to go watch live.
Since you guys like The Black Keys (I'm assuming) then I'd appreciate if you'd listen to my friend's band, The Districts, and give me your thoughts on them. The singer sounds kind of like Dan Auerbach but younger and more soulful. Tell me what you think!
The Black Drapes are a fantastic little 3-piece rock group who use their rock hard riffs to create songs such as "Stereo", and "Alaskan Jungle". The Black Drapes are said to have a "cool and laid-back Nirvana style", and have been compared to a variety of bands such as Queens Of The Stoneage, The Pixies, and Blue Oyster Cult. They're a band definitely worth giving a listen to. Check Us Out
The Sonics, "Have Love Will Travel". Great song, and a good cover. I love these guys, a surprise up their sleeve every time! Who'da thunk it? The Sonics!

It's sooo freakin' good to hear REAL music & REAL talent!!! I'm so tired of justin bieber crap that everyone is playing now.....seriously people listen to real music!!!!
If you guys are into this type of music then you should check out my 2 person band Pioneer Zephyr, and search Pioneer Zephyr untitled #1, we are a 2 person band from Austin Texas and we were hoping to get some feedback on one of our songs. We would really appreciate any helpful comments and feedback we could get on some of our songs and if people dig our music enough we will put all our songs up.
you really dont notice how amazing of a drummer Patrick Carny is off of the studio recordings. You really have to see how hard he pounds the drums live to get a real apparition for his talents on the drum set.
The only time I have seen them even playing in Colorado was when they opened for the Fray??? The Black Keys opening for.....the Fray? WTduece??? SO i did not go, but hopefully they will come out soon. Bob Logg is playing out here in a couple months, at least some good music passes through here.
@fearofcups1 I read that they are adding a bass player and keyboardist to their live lineup this summer, I believe its half the show is just Dan and Pat then the second have is The Black Keys and friends or something like that. Wont know for sure how they are doing it until reports of their summer shows start to come out.

I've seen them probably 10+ times. Great show every time. Best was years back in a small bar in Akron (Lime Spider) for $2. There had to have only been about 100 or so people there (only because of limited capacity, there were a lot of people stuck outside that couldn't get in).

It's pretentious and has absolutely no soul. And a shitty
performance to boot. Sorry if I put off all of those here who
actually thought this was cool. I didn't totally hate it, but let's
face it, this was far from astonishing, so why bother?

monkeyattackedmyass 2 years ago
The point of doing a cover is not to "one-up" the original performer (Rick Berry), or any previous versions of the cover (The Sonics).
The point of doing a cover is to put your own twist on an old song, and pay tribute to the originator. Which the Keys do a fantastic job of here.
jvandervest 2 years ago 34
