My best friend has celiac disease as well, I really hope you win or get a chance to share your recepies because there are a lot of people out there who are at a loss of what to eat without getting gluton in their systems! I applaude you!
this girl should not win the challenge this is not tasty food its a plan salad that anyone can do this challenge is for unique and talented cooks not some soccer mom thats trying to be famous
Nice in front of the camera, but why did you preface the video with "Good Food Without Limits" when the entire premise of your video/show is cooking with limits?
Also, all you did was chop up vegetables into a salad. And not even properly.
I like you as a personality for TV. I don't like that all you did was chop vegetables and put them in a bowl. my 10 year old nephew can do that. it's not impressive.
if you had JUST added a bit more depth to the dish you'd have won SO many more people over. it's sad, 'cause you totally have that star quality, which so MANY of the contestants- no matter how complex their dishes are- do not have. I'm voting thumbs up but I'm seriously hoping you provide more substance than chopped vegetables.
Brandi has a great presence on camera and can cook/chop while telling a story - without losing a finger. She seems to know a lot about gluten-free foods and how a busy professional can prepare healthy meals, both for herself and her family. The FoodNetwork could definitely use a show focusing on a gluten-free lifestyle. There are so many people who can't eat gluten, who would tune into this!
I don't know why I clicked this, I hate veggies and would never eat this stuff, buy this nice lady is awesome at presentation, knowledge, and just an overall sense of ease in front of the camera. Idk what she is trying to win but give it to her.. Btw if u were my mom I'd be sad, I love eating out of boxes :D
She is a natural in front of the camera! Also, clearly knowledgeable about food content & value. I happen to be celiac. After seeing this video, I have been bringing her salad to work for lunch - a very welcome change from the typically boring lettuce, tomato, & cuke. This proves wholesome & gluten free need not be high maintenance. She organically grows her own -- nice touch!! I would love to see other recipes from her.
She is a natural in front of the camera!! Also, clearly very knowledgeable about food content and value. I happen to be celiac. After seeing this video, I have been bringing her salad to work for lunch -- a very welcome change from the typically boring lettuce, tomato and cuke. This proves wholesome & gluten free need not be high maintenance. She organically grows her own - nice touch! I would love to see other recipes from her.
Great video--she's showing how easy it is to fight the sandwich for lunch norm at work, but she mentions that she would do something more complicated like a tart or pasta at home. Great presence and a lot of food knowledge. Think she's perfect for the Food Network.
in the beginning she said that, doing a job like her, you don't have alot of time to get of your desk, but she does have time to make yourself a tasteless salad with nothing in it
When I saw the title Brandi The Gluten Free Guru, i was hoping that the video would actually be something useful. You were more focused on the food being organic than gluten free. Not only that, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make a gluten free salad. The first salad that you showed would have been perfectly fine if there weren't croutons in it. You showed absolutely no cooking skills at all and this video was nowhere near as helpful as you made it sound.
@halfcabfullforce Gluten isn't bad for you if you don't have Celiac Disease. It's actually very healthy. The food that they put it in isn't always healthy though, like cookies and cake. But when put into the right foods, like bread and other things of that sort, it is very healthy and should be eaten more than vegetables. Look at a food pyramid, almost everything on the bottom row is made up of gluten.
@tinfoilluvr actually gluten is not good for you. Certain grains are good like quinoa, not gluten. People without celiac disease can tolerate it but we can also eat chocolate and fatty foods, doesnt mean its good. Also, the food pyramid is complete crap. It was made by the usda and no scientific research was done.
@tinfoilluvr i want to see your sources of gluten being useful positively in the body at all.
the food pyramid shows grains. our bodies are naturally insulin-producing and gluten actually produces estrogen. which is why fat men have such big boobies.
You swing your head around too much , talk too fast , slow it down or make a longer video or both . I don't know if I'd bang you like everyone else commenting on here , but I might as well sat yes just to check another one off the list . Have you considered porn ?
i like your concepts a lot. id like to know more about gluten free cooking and its importance, also im interested in your specific health problems that lead you to this. best of luck!
Personally, that is more inconvenient than convenient. What if you only have five minutes for a break? Who wants to sit there for those whole five minutes prepping your food when you are unable to eat it? You should have said this is something you can do at dinner instead of at work. I mean, not everyone's work place has a lovely kitchen that your work gives. Also, organic doesn't make foods better. You shouldn't get it just because you push food myths like that.
Gluten-free isn't all about salads! There are plenty of great wheat substitutes- mainly corn and rice. :) And many lovely, gluten-free things can be made with said products. ^_^ Be more creative, is my advice!
I liked the vid. =) Good demo, but unfortunately its not actually allergy free. I can't eat two out of the three foods you used... oops. Many times people dx with Celiac also have another compounding autoimmune dis. such as Interstitial Cystitis. Good luck though!
I was hoping for something tasty and complex that is specifically targeted to the gf crowd, like gf pizza, brownies or bread. Anyone can make a salad.
Maybe next time try making something a bit more challenging. I understand that you're trying to make it simple, but as someone who's been gluten free for 3 years myself, I don't just eat a bunch of vegetables in a bowl for lunch. A good avenue to explore is gluten free baking, since that's where most people run into trouble.
As a Celiac, I was excited when I saw this, because it sort of showed that we were getting out there. But instead of wowing me, you did what every restaurant does, and do a salad. Don't get me wrong, I have that quite often in the summer, but I also cook a lot of other things to. Gluten free doesn't have to be boring, and unfortunately that's all you did here. If you want to wow Food Network, come up with some really good, interesting GF recipes.
I appreciated this. I'm a dude who had celiac disease 15 years before knowing it. None of the tests or 5 doctors showed/knew what was up. Almost every meal damaged my GI tract and made me sick. I was sick throughout the day and simply felt "used" to it. Going gluten free is very challenging if you don't spend quite a bit of money. This is a quick, easy way to get food that won't "surprise you" with a gluten allergy kick that sends you home from work for the day.
i hate how people turned gluten free into a fad diet. theres nothing wrong with gluten, its a good meat alternative. people that are celiac shouldnt eat gluten. anyone else, its ok. alot of people think our human stomachs are weak which isnt true we can digest a whole array of foods. i say organic is the way to go, organic produce, organic milk(not soy or rice milk, its all factory made) lean meats, healthy fats (omega 3,6,9)
Just being honest here, but all you did was chop up veggies and put them in a bowl. Everyone can do that on their own. You make it seem like gluten free diets are boring, which I doubt they have to be. I think it's great you grow your own organic produce, so maybe a gardening show would be much better for you. Not a cooking one.
HI! I also eat a gluten free diet. And i also exclude milk and sugar from my diet.
My sister also do this becouse she has OCD.
I think that awareness about what food we put in our mouth is VERY important. The food most people in the western countries eat today is so unhealthy, so filled with additives and sugar, and frozen or conserved.
You are what you eat. Are you a frozen chickenwing with additives and artificial flavor? Or are you a healthy beautifilly colored tomato filled with energy?
I wish you'd have made something more substantial than a salad so we could really see your skills. It'd be nice to have someone who grows their own food on the food network.
Amaranth is a very ancient grain used by the Aztecs and Incas. Grinding it makes a light and tasty flour. Rich in lysine, its protein content is high quality. There are 60 mg of calcium per 1/2 cup, and amaranth is gluten free. Amaranth has a nutty, slightly spicy flavor, and a sticky gelatinous texture. It makes a highly nutritious hot cereal and can be cooked like any other grain, but becomes sticky when cooked. Can be mixed with corn, onions, and pinto beans.
Go Brandi! Since my sister, mother, and cousin all eat gluten-free, I think awareness about gluten free eating is really important. I think this is a perfect show for the Food Network! And some of your recipes might help me know what the heck to cook for Thanksgiving dinner...
Great job Brandi, you are a natural! I think people would be more apt to watch someone who is actually living with a food allergy and still able to eat healthy.
Would definitely fill a Food Network gap. I'm always surprised at the number of people I know dealing with food allergies, and as far as I'm aware, none of the Food Network programming is dealing with it directly. The homegrown element is awesome as well - great submission.

it for me. Many thanks. I can't wait to watch you on the Food Chanel.
