Did you get your finger caught between the work piece and the tool rest after you adjusted it at 1: 15 ? I would think that adjusting the tool rest while the lathe is running is a bad idea anyway...

Get hold of a tool catalogue such as the one from Axminster Power tools, they have all sort of kit available for woodturners, good luck
