Always loved this song. And I miss the 80s too. Only difference: Chris Hamill looks much better today than he did then. If you had told me in 1983 that I would say this in 2011 I would have never believed you.
This is music that became a HIT, just by itself, not like that crap the media calls music and shoves it on our throats saying to us: "You MUST LIKE IT", "This IS music", I could mention some examples but who need to talk about a" beaver" or a "lady"
its hard to believe that the 80 now till to 30 years are over... I was born in 84, but sometimes i like to listen 80s and 90s, the music of my childhood.
i always fall in memories when in listen to music like this how good it was to be a child - easy life and no problems...
If it is so TERRIBLE why are you viewing the video ? Come out of the closet! You were looking at Boy George when this video popped up, and you probably...... "rubbed one out" didnt you!? OH.... KMBURSS.... you like it.
It was terrible back then and it's terrible now. Hard to believe that back when this came out people that liked AC/DC were treated like outcasts and freaks. I mean come on AC/DC or this? it's not even close!
I hate when people start throwing off on 80's music. particularly the ones who were born this way of 1990! you can say whatever you want to about this music but these people had undeniable talent. you can cleary see the dude is thumpin' the hell out of that bass and the singer is singing his face off. nothing today but no talent bums like lady gaga and the like who have to resort to gross exploitations for a lack of talent,

@fuzzypinkcat1 Hey butthead jerk I looked up cripe and its SLANG for CHRIST.... which makes NO sense in your sentence.... "get new speakers and not CHRIST at other people" WTF ... it must be slang in children's worlds. How old are you? 16? Adults would never have been rude like you to the request to make the volume better like the one chris591972 offers and YES its MUCH LOUDER on his! Go do your thing with your fuzzy pink cat now and leave me alone! ass wipe!!
I can't deny it - this song is one of my ultimate guilty pleasures. The outfits and hair are absurd, and the song and the lyrics are cheesier than a limburger factory. And seriously, 'Kajagoogoo' is one of the worst band names I have ever heard. But that bass line of nick beggs is just great. Definatly one of the more interesting and original bass lines to come out of pop music in the 1980s. As a bassist myself, I can't deny that groove.
the 1980s were pure shit!!! i was born in 75 so work out my age,the 80s were the start of the contrived crap music that is still around today, the clothes and hair were just awful, was it long, was it short,no it was a mullett!!! AND MOST OF THE MUSIC WAS SO TINNY AND SYNTH!!! to me the best time to be a teenager music and fashion wise was the late 1960s and early 70s, of course we always look on the era before we were born as more exciting but for fucks sakes THE 1980S!!!arrggg!!!
god i was blessed to have a been a teen in them days, life seemed so great, with so many new things coming out, new music, some of the greatest movies, new bmx bikes, great new addidas trainers, fila tracksuites, etc. They was so much good stuff going on, no wonder we where all high with happiness in them days.

@keisha78 it's ironic that people are posting comments about how the 80's were great on a YOUTUBE video! in the 80's you had to sit around and wait for this to come on mtv in bad quality. the internet alone makes the 90's and 2000's so much better than the 80's were. we already take it for granted. if you went back to the 80's knowing everything you do now, you'd be so frustrated by how much everything sucks.
i do think if we went back to the 70s and 80s knowing everthing we know now we would be frustrated because our hi-tech technology has spoiled us and we would miss it.
but i think it is kinda ironic that back then we had great music, but the technology was not great.
and now we have great technology, but the music is not so great.
@keisha78 i think its the technology thats what made just about every musician lose sight of what real music is and that it should come from the heart and soul and not a computer that cant show emotion...i actually get a joy out of the old stuff like records old stories of life in that time the style and thats why i always say to myself whats so great about ipods and mp3s besides that it can hold all your music"i mean seriously wheres the adventure sitting at a computer downloading music anyway
@keisha78 U r not alone, the music industry nowadays has been overshadowed by the love of money and not so much about talent and creativity while those with actual talent are swept under the rug and forgotten about and sadly to say people are brainwashed into thinking that this is okay.Videos and songs like this you just never get tired of,the music nowadays doesnt have that type of magic, what do we have lady gaga, what a joke and God help us.
@dcflava74 i agree, there is no magic in music or celebrities nowadays. back then celebrities were exciting, we had michael jackson prince madonna cyndi lauper tears for fears flock of seagulls human league animotion etc. and they were everywhere and it was really fun and exciting to see them.
@keisha78 Well think of it this way, when you get my age you'll be responding to someone your age who will think you were in a good time period. :) But by all means, make sure YOU have the best days NOW, each and every day. Stay away from all detrimental physical and mental, influences. And set positive goals. :) Time periods can't give you that alone. :)
My all time favorite '80s song that truly captures the essence of the those years with the "new wave" english bands that were so popular. Big hair, Z Cavarichi's, booming economy....... the music was sooo good with sooo many bands! Music was hot.
It's an ode to gayness with some implicit lyrics and some down right explicit ones too: e.g. at one point it goes: "won't you dilate". This was during a time the last Tory government [tee hee!] introduced a law which became known as 'Clause 28'. It was basically meant to 'ban' 'teaching of homosexuality in schools. Quite unbelievable now, but yes it happened. This song was number one during those times - naturally, most straights [including me] and Tories didn't click. I bet gays did! Genius!
I´m from Brazil and I born in 87, but even if I didn´t live the 80´s, I made them alive everyday in my life on new millenium... simply LOVE every single band and new wave from 80´s =)
@transonicbuoy1 Think about this,no internet, cellphones, twitter, facebook, myspace, hyves ect ect,...and being in love with someone, dancing to this song and then you'll have to wait till next weekend before you will meet again,no internet no twitter ect ect...listening to this song all week,...and then finaly you meet again...the 80's were magical and pure.I was 14 years old at this time...first love, first dance ,first kiss, aaahhhh I miss the 80's...!!!
@sarcastic scum I feel you I was born the same year as you and had to put with the spice girls, baha men' that frog song, justin bieber and miley cyrus crap. I would of liked to be born when my parents were born. And @mgfaxlad limahl is an anagram of the singers surname hamill. Found that out on wikipedia
Damn... I missed the 80s... I was born in '89 and I've had to suffer through the 90s and 2000s.. I would do anything to have been born in the late 1960s..
This music captures the essence of what it was like to be young in the 80s... carefree, no Internet, sticker collections, riding your bike, playing outside, Atari, Pac Man, renting videos from the local video store, Commodore 64, recording songs off the radio, Friday Night Videos, parachute pants, Sat. morning cartoons, break dancing, pool hopping in the summer time, then roasting marshmallows at night, catching fireflies and putting them in a jar, going roller skating on Sat. nights. Awesome!
@philaman1972 Let's not forget our favorite outdoor nightime game "kick the can". And omg...I think I still have my Commodore 64! LOL. It's put away in the closet. Damn..I wish time machines were real because I wouldn't hesitate to go back to the 80's even if it was for a day...naaww, I'd make it a week!
@Helpful2You yeah, i remember in moscow when the first C64 showed up, you had like 20 games or more on one casette, Loderunner, bruce lee, barbarian . good times
@philaman1972 You my friend , have just sumed up the 80's!! do you rember no mobiles, no health and safety telling us not to ride our BMX's over 'Burms' ? as you say, sat morn telly worth watching?? those were the days!!!!
@philaman1972 Your so right. I was born in 72' and you described my childhood. Especially, going roller skating on saturday nights. The 80's were some great years....the best years of my life.
@philaman1972 Dang you brought back some memories of my youth! Saturday night at the roller rink could not be beat. Friday night videos, I thought I was the only one who remembered those. Hahaha
@ShinLvlGod Musically, the 80s was amazing. You had all these great songs from various genres (disco, pop, new wave, rock, heavy metal, jazz, and rap) being pumped out day after day, week after week, year after year. The great songs provided the soundtracks for our lives as pre-teens and teens. I hate to use the cliche but it *was* magic.
@philaman1972 well said...for me at this time i was only 11 but the world around me then was electric...i recall put put and spending my saved lunch money on fridays,..i loved kajagoogoo nick beggs is one of the reasons i got into bass...he dials in this tight funk style on his bass's even when he played jazz bass's they had this tone and funk sound to them that the jazz bass's i have come across do..
@sprintbass What really sets the 80s apart is that on whole, the music was exceptional. It was such a diverse decade musically speaking (disco, new wave, pop, funk, rock, rap), yet the songs produced were amazing. This great music provided the sound track to our youth.

i understand what you are saying, people always wish to live in a time period that they missed out on.
but i just do not think people will want to come back to the 90s and 2000s, the same way people want to go back to the 70s and 80s.
the reason being is that music and entertaiment is so boring now.
the 70s and 80s were way more fun than it is now.

@keisha78 i think its the technology thats what made just about every musician lose sight of what real music is and that it should come from the heart and soul and not a computer that cant show emotion...i actually get a joy out of the old stuff like records old stories of life in that time the style and thats why i always say to myself whats so great about ipods and mp3s besides that it can hold all your music"i mean seriously wheres the adventure sitting at a computer downloading music anyway
xXDethMetalGodXx 1 year ago 3
@keisha78 U r not alone, the music industry nowadays has been overshadowed by the love of money and not so much about talent and creativity while those with actual talent are swept under the rug and forgotten about and sadly to say people are brainwashed into thinking that this is okay.Videos and songs like this you just never get tired of,the music nowadays doesnt have that type of magic, what do we have lady gaga, what a joke and God help us.

nowadays, with these new celebrities there is nobody that i really like or am interested in seeing.
reason being, there is no magic or excitment like there was with the celebrities from the 70s and 80s.
back then it was just a fun and magical time.

Hit #5 pop, #23 rock in the US (Billboard). 1 hit wonder here. How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

I really love the 80's!! I wasn't alive back in the 80's and I totally (80's word hehe) wish I was. I was born in 1991. I love everything 80's!

@brittanynicolefield1
i agree.
i was alive in the 80s, but i was too young to enjoy it.
i wish i was teenager or grown-up in the 70s and 80s .

i am so jealous, i wish i could have been able to enjoy that time period.
keisha78 1 year ago
@keisha78 Well think of it this way, when you get my age you'll be responding to someone your age who will think you were in a good time period. :) But by all means, make sure YOU have the best days NOW, each and every day. Stay away from all detrimental physical and mental, influences. And set positive goals. :) Time periods can't give you that alone. :)

My all time favorite '80s song that truly captures the essence of the those years with the "new wave" english bands that were so popular. Big hair, Z Cavarichi's, booming economy....... the music was sooo good with sooo many bands! Music was hot.

One of the sickest basslines EVER!!!
Bigbasssix1972 1 year ago
It's an ode to gayness with some implicit lyrics and some down right explicit ones too: e.g. at one point it goes: "won't you dilate". This was during a time the last Tory government [tee hee!] introduced a law which became known as 'Clause 28'. It was basically meant to 'ban' 'teaching of homosexuality in schools. Quite unbelievable now, but yes it happened. This song was number one during those times - naturally, most straights [including me] and Tories didn't click. I bet gays did! Genius!

If I was a fruit, which I'm not, I'd probably give Limahl one. What kind of fucking name is Limahl, anyway? Awesome track. Memories.

Still. Pop music was brilliant in the 80s.

This music captures the essence of what it was like to be young in the 80s... carefree, no Internet, sticker collections, riding your bike, playing outside, Atari, Pac Man, renting videos from the local video store, Commodore 64, recording songs off the radio, Friday Night Videos, parachute pants, Sat. morning cartoons, break dancing, pool hopping in the summer time, then roasting marshmallows at night, catching fireflies and putting them in a jar, going roller skating on Sat. nights. Awesome!

@philaman1972 well said...for me at this time i was only 11 but the world around me then was electric...i recall put put and spending my saved lunch money on fridays,..i loved kajagoogoo nick beggs is one of the reasons i got into bass...he dials in this tight funk style on his bass's even when he played jazz bass's they had this tone and funk sound to them that the jazz bass's i have come across do..
sprintbass 1 year ago
@sprintbass What really sets the 80s apart is that on whole, the music was exceptional. It was such a diverse decade musically speaking (disco, new wave, pop, funk, rock, rap), yet the songs produced were amazing. This great music provided the sound track to our youth.
