  • Zounds can that man hold a note. O_O

  • I will never let my brother be in charge of my CD's ever again. He lost my Scarlet Pimpernel CD and I'm going through major withdrawls.

  • I love it when Percy accuses Chauvelin of being the Scarlet Pimpernel.

  • What does Douglas Sills say at :17 right after she asks if he is the Scarlet Pimpernel?

  • would you happen to have the final end scene with the sword fight and stuff??!?!?!?! That is one of my favs!!!! thanks for uploading this treasure!!

  • Pimpy!!!!!! Made ya look.... OMG ROTFL

  • "I've been watching more and more clips from this musical and Douglas Sills is wonderful. It's just the little gestures, expressions, or tones he uses. Just all the small details really make this character.

    "

  • OMG, how could there be any dislikes on this!

    ...Made ya look.

    XD

  • Everytime i watch this i feel horrible i was never able to see Douglas Sills in this role. Funny, beautiful, and amazing man.

  • This guy is so freakin' BRILLIANT!

  • She is so wretched, and he is so amazing. How on earth did this woman get on the stage with him?

  • What's the full line "Posing as this ass......?" at about 6:55? I can't understand it and it's driving me crazy.

  • @Masquerade2010 The line is "This is so demmed clever of you. Posing as this ass 'Shovelin' over there in Paris, and the whole while you're a hero!" (I believe that last word is 'hero'. i'll have to check my script to be positive)

  • I've been watching more and more clips from this musical and Douglas Sills is wonderful. It's just the little gestures, expressions, or tones he uses. Just all the small details really make this character.

  • "THIS MAN IS A NINCOMPOOP!!!" *pause* "And Damned Proud Of It"

  • @RosesNightengales That was funny!

  • this is christine andreas

  • @marilyn1166 this is NOT christine andreas. christine andreas is fantastic and this woman's acting/accent is horrid.

  • is this christine andreas? and do you have any more clips?

  • I saw this tour 3 times. Love it!!!!!

  • this clip is priceless. omg how ive laughed. i think the actors were great and what a voice he has. and the part where he comes back and says pp.....made you look, i laughed like hell. that was so funny. this is the first time ive seen any of this play. if i ever have the chance to see it i definately will. thank you for posting it. if you have any more please post it. its worth watching.

  • I loooove this show. And Douglas Sills....

The look on his face at 1:45 when he finds out that Margeurite and Chauvlin were lovers just breaks my heart...

    "This man's a nincompoop!"

    "And damn proud of it."

  • love love love! this video!! so perfect! i LOVE douglas sills!

  • I can see douglas play the candel dtick in beauty and the beast i think he would be amazing as that part

  • is this marguerite played by amy bohner or rachel york?

  • It's definitely not Rachel York.

  • @wincipoet I think its Amy Bohner, because it looks nothing like Rachel York.

  • @wincipoet It's Amy Bohner. This looks like the early tour cast. :0)

  • I LOVE this show. Seriously, one of the best shows I've ever seen. Wish it could've had a better run on Broadway, it certainly deserved to!

  • I'd love to see the whole show, too, but it's not on the road anywhere. It's one of my favorite scores ever.

  • "AND DAMN PROUD OF IT!!" XDD

  • @RoronoaEmi I laughed when he said that! I love Percy! Douglass Sills did a wonderful job!

  • I love the April Fools Joke!!!

  • Very nice. Douglas Sills has the audience in the palms of his hands. Great scene, great show.

  • Douglas Sills is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow. this is so amazing. i hope it comes to ATL soon so i get the chance to see it on stage!

    ~lAUra

  • oh man- douglas sills IS the scarlet pimpernel. I hate so much that I missed it.

  • oh, my gosh!!!!!!!! douglas sills is hilarious!!!! and that song was so passionate!!! how i wish i had been able to see this...douglas sills is a cutie, too...

  • what i'd like to know is where is the rest of the show? This is amazing and i would love to see the whole thing? Any ideas?

  • Very, Very good and enjoyable to watch! The comedy balance is just right!

  • Douglas Sills is beyond amazing.

  • She looks like my Drama teacher.

  • This video is a gem. That's all.

  • That audience was sooo receptive. And Douglas Sills is incredible. That woman can't act, sorry.

  • LOL... Douglass is amazing. :D

  • oops 2 s...

  • Is this the original cast? Cause, that kinda sounds like Terrence mann. . .But it doesn't.

  • Yea, this definitely isn't the original.

I think it's like the 3rd tour or something...

Especially because that's definitely not Christine Andreas

  • Not to mention Terrence is nowhere to be found in this video. xD

  • Chauvelin is William Paul Michaels.

  • There isn't enough space for me to say how much i love Douflas Sills. He only has to smile and i'm lost, but when he sings... (faints) And his laugh:) OMG that laugh! Anyway great video, do u have anymore?

  • Who plays Chauvelin? He's really good. Could somenoe upload the wheres the girl scene?

  • That would be...William Michals I believe. I love his voice!

  • Yes it is. Credited during the tour as William Paul Michals, now William Michals. He's currently in the South Pacific Revival as the standby for the lead male role.

  • @thebrainlessfop no its not william michals its terrance mann

  • @thebrainlessfop i dont dissagree but terrance mann cant be beat

  • @MichaelCrawfordsFan Terrance Mann. He also was the Beast in Beauty and the Beast.

  • hahaha awsome. I love doug. More please!

  • Perfect!

  • Oh my gosh I love how strong, and powerfull Doug's singing voice sounds. His also quite a hansome devil isn't he, and has such menifecent eye brows (yes I know great complemnt. I'm proply going to be called the weird eye brow gal(what a great complemet, "excuse me Doug, did anyone tell you, you have great eye brows", sure it would go over great!!!). Also I love how strong his voice is, and his facel expreshon (and once agin his rased eye brows) at 5:22.

  • Could you please post more scenes from this performance? Pretty please?

  • LOVE Douglas' face at 8:09

  • "and damn proud of it" lol

  • OMG.... This man is AMAZING. I'm breathless because of his singing and the hilariousness of this clip. Thanks so much for uploading.

  • What does he say when he bursts up laughing? Is he supposed to laugh at that point? I love this clip!!

  • he dosen't laugh, he just by accident used his regular voice, wich were bad cause his her husband, and she must not know his the pimpernel, so it's how it's supposed to be and he said "do you think i would let any harm come to that boy"

  • It is after he sings and Chauvelin comes in. Right after he says, "Pimpy!" He just starts laughing. What does he say right after "Pimpy!"?

  • sorry my bad, I got that one to "my you lots" makes no sense to me, maybe he got the line wrong, and thats why i he laughs.

  • Thanks. I have a feeling that is why he is laughing. Thanks again.

  • Oh, I thought he said "Made you look."

Because, once Chauvelin comes in, he has to be all foppish again and kind of silly, so he pretends to see the Pimpernel. So, he says "Pimpy" out towards the audience, I guess. And then, "Made you look."

Although, he really does just burst out laughing. I mean, I think he's supposed to, but...haha. Douglas is just so brilliant.

  • He says "Made you look"

  • he said made u look lol

  • He's supposed to use the 4th wall.

  • I NEVER get tired of watching this clip!!! Douglas is so good and he looks like he really enjoys his role as "Percy". And that VOICE!! I never get tired of that either.

I hope the show comes back someday and they bring the original cast back as well. It was a shame that the show didn't last a long as it should have. I would definitely go see it!!

  • only problem with the original cast coming back is that they are not as spry as they once were.

  • Just a hopeful wish since it wasn't that long ago that the show was on Broadway...it would be nice =)

  • I whole heartedly agree. Hopefully this "marguerite" wouldn't be part of it. Her acting is highly annoying.

  • Amy Bodnar wasn't that bad :)! She had an extremely tough line of people to follow in the role (Christine Andreas: Awesome!, Rachel York: Amazing!!, Carolee Carmello...No words!!!).

  • I get butterflies every time I see him sing!

  • I so love Douglass Sills in this role!

  • Is this Douglas Sills? I hope so.

  • You better believe it!! *loves*

  • YAY!! I've never seen him perform, but my mom bought the Broadway recording of The Scarlet Pimpernel, and I fell in love with his voice.

  • he also replies with a and damned proud of it

  • does anyone know what person yells at him after he calls to 'pimpy' and wants to see the 'his' costume i cant work it out

  • thats Chauvelin yelling "Merde! This man is a nincompop!"

Chauvelin is off stage slightly and out of camera shot. This is my favorite part of the show and also when Percy tries to say Chauvelin's name.

  • thank you i slightly understood it when i watched another one thanks

  • It's no problem. I have seen this scene many times before and know what the words are. Still has me in tears when I watch it. It's so funny.

And also, for anyone who does not know French, 'merde' is sh*t in French. haha

  • I believe Sills only performed Percy with Michals and Bodnar at the extended Los Angeles stay, or at least that's where he finished up. I was lucky enough to see SP1, SP3 and SP4 - while visiting NY, and we tried to live at the Ahmanson while SP was in LA. I never tire of seeing Sills play Percy, partly because that fourth wall comes down so often - and because the show kept changing!

  • omg this looks absolutly brilliant!!!*Sigh* has it ever actually played in the UK?

  • Sills as Percy is just fabulous. And three cheers for the videographer. I've never had the nerve - what a steady hand! I know it's not right but how else can the brilliance of live theatre live on... there must be an equitable solution.

  • The official tour never left the US, I don't think. But! If you go to the official website, they will list upcoming independent productions of Pimpernel -- quite a few are in the UK.

  • Does Anyone know if someone uploaded the "Bell scene" ?

  • "Made you look."

Ohh, that was brilliant. I have tears in my eyes from laughing too hard.

  • This is beyond brillint! I've loved this clip for ages. My theatre company are putting Scarlet Pimpernel on - the director adviced everyone to WATCH THIS CLIP!! Thank you!

  • *grins* I LOVE this bit too! Your director really advised people to watch this clip? That's really cool... *wonders if there is another clip your director would like to see*

  • @thebrainlessfop The director wants to see the whole show ... and so do I!

  • The look on his face when he grabs her after "That decision is mine"...it completely kills me every single time. Just heartbreak and devotion and pure love. Unbelievable. And that silent screamed "No" after he finds out that Chauvelin has been with Marguerite...AHHHh I love Douglas Sills!

  • All the men look so spiffy in their shiny outfits! *laughs*

  • As Colm Wilkinson is to Valjean in Les Mis, as Sutton Foster is to Millie Dilmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and as Hunter Foster is to Seymour in Little Shop Of Horrors; Douglas Sills is The Scarlet Pimpernel.

  • The bridge scene and the spelling scene have always been the acting highlights of show. comedically.

  • I want to see the spelling scene because you said it was funny but i can't find it anywhere! Do you know where i could find it?

  • This is why I don't YouTube at 3am. I think I may have laughed hard enough to wake the cats in the other room.

Thank you so much for uploading this. I'd only seen small clips of Sills, but never a full scene. His ability to switch characters and full demenor at the drop of a hat is absolutely amazing.

  • What makes him laugh so hard (like what does he say) after he shouts 'PIMPY!'???

  • Ah, this one I can answer! After he shouts "PIMPY" and leans over the rail, I think Chauvelin also ducks down. Percy pauses for a sec, then says "Made you look" and cracks up. ;)

  • What is said before Douglas says, "And damn proud of it"?

    I can't hear it clearly.

  • Ah, that would be "Merde, this man is a nincompoop!" Or something along those lines. ;)

  • Thanks...

Now I'm laughing even harder than before.

Which is hard, that was amazingly funny.

  • My favorite scene in the play. The look on his face when he pulls her close is heartbreaking.

  • Douglass is one of the GREATEST actors that has ever lived. He's serious, hysterical, romantic, mysterious, and everything else an actor should be. Not to mention his voice.

  • Isn't he just amazing? *happy sigh* I sure hope he goes on Broadway soon...or on Tour. I'd LOVE to see him live!! :)

  • Do you have Douglas Creation of Man?

  • i can't really tell for sure, but that chauvelin doesn't really look like terrence mann. is this a newer production?

  • Its probably William Michals. I know what Terry looks like and that is deffinatly not him. I know what William looks like and that would be him ^_^

  • ok, thanks. i didn't think it was him, but i couldn't really see his face very well. so i'm assuming that's not christine andreas either, is it? it gets so confusing when they keep one actor and change the rest!!

  • LOL, it sure does get confusing!! This is from the Tour of SP, with Amy Bodnar as Marguerite and William Michals as Chauvelin. I'm so glad Douglas Sills was asked to come back as Percy!! He's amazing. :o)

  • me too, he is hilarious!! i can't get enough of his laugh, i watch that part like 20 times every time i get on here.

    anyway,thanks for the info!

  • AHHH i LOVE douglas sills!!

  • "Do You think I'll let any harm to that boy?! Lady blakeney." Haha. i love doug. could you post the title song? The Scarlet Pimpernel? Please!

  • I love that part too!

And to answer your question, no. I'm not taking requests at the moment.

  • -giggles- I LOVE his expression when Marguerite says she was Chauvelin's lover for a little while. He looks like he's gonna either be sick or yell, the poor guy.

  • It's Douglas! Wow! A great voice and comedic timing. I never got to see him in this role, so this is such a blessing. Thank you for uploading this!

  • *grins* I LOVE Douglas!! Have you seen my other vid? From "Little Shop of Horrors"? You should if you haven't. ;) And you're very welcome!

  • Oooo. I love Doug, He's amazing. i miss him. I miss seeing these videos' They are amazing.

  • i love him too!!!

  • OMG IS THIS DOUGLAS SILLS!?!? *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

    OMGoooooooooooooooooood I love this man!!

  • Yep! LOL, I LOVE HIM TOO!!!! :o)
