this clip is priceless. omg how ive laughed. i think the actors were great and what a voice he has. and the part where he comes back and says pp.....made you look, i laughed like hell. that was so funny. this is the first time ive seen any of this play. if i ever have the chance to see it i definately will. thank you for posting it. if you have any more please post it. its worth watching.
oh, my gosh!!!!!!!! douglas sills is hilarious!!!! and that song was so passionate!!! how i wish i had been able to see this...douglas sills is a cutie, too...
There isn't enough space for me to say how much i love Douflas Sills. He only has to smile and i'm lost, but when he sings... (faints) And his laugh:) OMG that laugh! Anyway great video, do u have anymore?
Yes it is. Credited during the tour as William Paul Michals, now William Michals. He's currently in the South Pacific Revival as the standby for the lead male role.
Oh my gosh I love how strong, and powerfull Doug's singing voice sounds. His also quite a hansome devil isn't he, and has such menifecent eye brows (yes I know great complemnt. I'm proply going to be called the weird eye brow gal(what a great complemet, "excuse me Doug, did anyone tell you, you have great eye brows", sure it would go over great!!!). Also I love how strong his voice is, and his facel expreshon (and once agin his rased eye brows) at 5:22.
he dosen't laugh, he just by accident used his regular voice, wich were bad cause his her husband, and she must not know his the pimpernel, so it's how it's supposed to be and he said "do you think i would let any harm come to that boy"
Because, once Chauvelin comes in, he has to be all foppish again and kind of silly, so he pretends to see the Pimpernel. So, he says "Pimpy" out towards the audience, I guess. And then, "Made you look."
Although, he really does just burst out laughing. I mean, I think he's supposed to, but...haha. Douglas is just so brilliant.
I NEVER get tired of watching this clip!!! Douglas is so good and he looks like he really enjoys his role as "Percy". And that VOICE!! I never get tired of that either.
I hope the show comes back someday and they bring the original cast back as well. It was a shame that the show didn't last a long as it should have. I would definitely go see it!!
Amy Bodnar wasn't that bad :)! She had an extremely tough line of people to follow in the role (Christine Andreas: Awesome!, Rachel York: Amazing!!, Carolee Carmello...No words!!!).
I believe Sills only performed Percy with Michals and Bodnar at the extended Los Angeles stay, or at least that's where he finished up. I was lucky enough to see SP1, SP3 and SP4 - while visiting NY, and we tried to live at the Ahmanson while SP was in LA. I never tire of seeing Sills play Percy, partly because that fourth wall comes down so often - and because the show kept changing!
Sills as Percy is just fabulous. And three cheers for the videographer. I've never had the nerve - what a steady hand! I know it's not right but how else can the brilliance of live theatre live on... there must be an equitable solution.
The official tour never left the US, I don't think. But! If you go to the official website, they will list upcoming independent productions of Pimpernel -- quite a few are in the UK.
This is beyond brillint! I've loved this clip for ages. My theatre company are putting Scarlet Pimpernel on - the director adviced everyone to WATCH THIS CLIP!! Thank you!
*grins* I LOVE this bit too! Your director really advised people to watch this clip? That's really cool... *wonders if there is another clip your director would like to see*
The look on his face when he grabs her after "That decision is mine"...it completely kills me every single time. Just heartbreak and devotion and pure love. Unbelievable. And that silent screamed "No" after he finds out that Chauvelin has been with Marguerite...AHHHh I love Douglas Sills!
As Colm Wilkinson is to Valjean in Les Mis, as Sutton Foster is to Millie Dilmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and as Hunter Foster is to Seymour in Little Shop Of Horrors; Douglas Sills is The Scarlet Pimpernel.
This is why I don't YouTube at 3am. I think I may have laughed hard enough to wake the cats in the other room.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I'd only seen small clips of Sills, but never a full scene. His ability to switch characters and full demenor at the drop of a hat is absolutely amazing.
Ah, this one I can answer! After he shouts "PIMPY" and leans over the rail, I think Chauvelin also ducks down. Percy pauses for a sec, then says "Made you look" and cracks up. ;)
Douglass is one of the GREATEST actors that has ever lived. He's serious, hysterical, romantic, mysterious, and everything else an actor should be. Not to mention his voice.
ok, thanks. i didn't think it was him, but i couldn't really see his face very well. so i'm assuming that's not christine andreas either, is it? it gets so confusing when they keep one actor and change the rest!!
LOL, it sure does get confusing!! This is from the Tour of SP, with Amy Bodnar as Marguerite and William Michals as Chauvelin. I'm so glad Douglas Sills was asked to come back as Percy!! He's amazing. :o)
-giggles- I LOVE his expression when Marguerite says she was Chauvelin's lover for a little while. He looks like he's gonna either be sick or yell, the poor guy.
