I've noticed in most of your videos that you generally spend more time than your opponent during the early and middle stages but rarely get into sticky time situations like the one in this one. You've got good time management skills.
I think that it's interesting to try to mix up the sicilian a little bit like you did! One good thing about the early Bb5 move I think is that it's speeding up whites king side development and forcing black to respand with a queen side move. One possible varitation is 3. Bb5 Nd7 4. 0-0 a6. 5 Bxd7 Qxd7 6. c3 Nf6 7 Re1. Perhaps not the most ambitious line but white is soon gonna play d4, striking in the center and black is still uncastled.
I don't understand why in the main line of the Sicilian, after the Knight captures on d4, more people don't play e5. It is free tempo by developing a center pawn.
I think the main difference between winning and losing this game was your push to box out his bishop with your knight + pawn on his queen side and his two obvious blunders. Bad day for him, good one for you. ;)
I'm surprised too. I feel as if you analysis is simplistic. I recommend that you play your game and then do a more extended analysis like in normal games.
@trixapete This is indeed surprising ... Jerry gave me with his comments an abolute new view on this game and suddenly - after playing a couple of years at a rating of about 1400-1500 - I understand now, what strategy is. It's of infinite worth for me to see, what he doesn't like, what he wants to prevent, how he plans getting something he wants and so on ... It seemed, I learned everything wrong and the most not at all ...
Well maybe not but you can obviously tell hes far from being rated even 2000, real 2000 and up players dont make dubious moves like in this game. The guy is 1700-1800 at BEST
keep them going, as always when i saw a new vid from you i was just like =D. its awesome to see how advanced your thinking is. whenever i play i think nothing about where their knight WANTS to go so i can implement moves to stop it etc. one of my friends was rated 2300 on FICS...whenever we play he destroys me :p now i know what similar stuff he thinks xD. although for what it's worth i'm pretty sure you'd beat him fairly easily ;)
Awesome stuff Jerry! 5* I saw a comment I think on your last video of someone voting for u to play kingscrusher for an exhibition and thought process of both sides. I wanted to put in my vote for that too! It would be so awesome! Keep being awesome!
These vids do seem slower than KCs, but still interesting, maybe its Kc's accent that makes the video go faster xD anyway, great vid, looking forward to seeing some of those d4 openings in future vids : )
I agree with Taunting. I wish the games were more frequent. Kingscrusher's are good but they're so much faster than your games (no offense) and there's a lot going on . . . this is another level of playing and I like to see both.
Hi 9.e5 gives white a slight advantage. An alternative is 9.Be3.10...Bb5? 10...Qc7 = 12. Qxd8 is only = 12.Be3 seems to keep whites advantage 13...Nd5!? 13...Bd6 seems a little better. 14.Bd2 is fine but I would have tried 14.Rfd1 so if 14....Nxe3? 15.Rxd8+ followed by 16.Nxf7+ or 16. fxe 14...Bd6 15.Bd4 now on 15...Bxe5 or 15...f6=
17...0-0? gives white a slight advantage better as you said is just 17...b4. after 20...e5?? the game is clear. 20...Rd6 seems better += Good game. ghfmp
@ghfmp Nice points you've made. I didn't take note of the possibility for Rfd1 instead of Bd2 as a result of Rxd8 and Nf7 fork. Thank you for that. =)
@Muki13 Thanks...didn't know it was going to be against someone of a high rank but it just so happened to turn out that way. Thanks for being a loyal rater/commenter. =)
@Robotman42 Not sure about that. I think just immediately bringing the king to e2 is best..placing him on a white square. Thanks for the compliment again Robotman =)
This was a convincing win even though time ran down. I'd like to see you make a ckmate, however. I just know that you can do it. It was already said about the A file pawn push but that was what I thought too. More vids plz! =D
oh, dont worry, keep winning, that way i can forget my own loses Y_Y
i've watched all your vids and more, i am reading a book by Roberto Grau and i play everyday and still there's this guy i cannot defeat! and he doesn't study chess as much as i!
love your video's jerry. Your voice makes me want to Meditate. So calming.....that being said a march for the isolated pawns on the h file would have been much quicker win for you after securing your 7th ranked base pawn
Once again, your practical and sound play wins convincingly. I love how straightforward your videos are; every move has a clear justification and it all makes sense. Great game, I'll be watching out for #5.
You tend to get "pretty low" on time every single game man :).
One thing I didn't get is why did a guy that's ranked so high just give up 2 pawns like that? The 1st beeing a blunder? I somehow would feel much safer by just doing something like pawn g6 or try to develop my right rook since it didn't do much the whole game. The 2nd pawn has no excuse, at least I don't see any interesting moves to follow that, guess that even really good players make dumb mistakes :)
